Anyway, we tried the donut shop on Washington @ Houston St. and the wife's donut was dry. My apple fritter was pretty good and the price of both was $1.89. We then drove directly over to the donut shop across from Brookshire Bros (Home Town Donuts) next to the convenience store/gas station and my wife said her donut was great. My apple fritter was one of the best ever. It even had the burnt sugar on the edges. The only problem was they were popular enough that they sold out of some of their donuts. No hours on the door so it may have been 10 minutes before closing like it was at the first donut shop (12:50pm). The price here was $2.00 even. Home Town Donuts were our favorites in Cleveland Tx.

I always like to taste a shop's apple fritter as a measuring stick. The taste was good. The texture was good. I was not used to have a rather flat fritter. I think I prefer a fat fritter over an almost pancake like fritter. The taste was good, so no biggie. Overall, this is a nice place with decent pricing. It is what you come to expect from a Texas doughnut shop. They may want to consider an end of the day bag.

The glazed donuts are so soft and so sweet they always taste so fresh, and the bread that they use for the kolache is always very fresh and very soft and has a very good sweet taste to it. And they have a great selection of donuts that have all been decorated with different designs, they have cartoon characters, animals etc. and they are just as good as they look, although sometimes I do feel bad about taking a bite out of something that is so cute and nicely decorated.
