My wedding at Flint Hill had two different stories: The wedding day was fantastic, but the planning was a nightmare. I suspect the positive reviews reflect the former. I will share advice that I wish I had received before making a 50% deposit. My rating is based on the planning. The day of would get 4 stars. - We were glad we had an outside wedding planner to be our ally. If you've never planned an event like this, you might not realize that you can easily be taken advantage of. - They provide a lot of staff on the day of the event, but some of them were people we had never met. We had an eight-minute call with our "Day of Reception Director" the week before the wedding. She is a part-time (weekends) employee who doesn't even have a company email address. - We were dazzled by Melissa's sales pitch. She spent 2 hours with us when we came in for a tour and it was great. We thought she would be a great ally in this process. She was super friendly and helpful through the contract process until we paid 50%. - We needed to read every version of the updated invoice to catch price changes. The price of our dessert was $9 until one day it was $9.50. They charged us $150 for early arrival with a $150 credit to cancel it out. One day that credit had changed from $150 to $2. Laura from the design studio "accidentally" increased the price of some tablecloths by $5 each. - Their contracts sometimes expire after two days, and they said we needed to sign before getting answers to our questions. This happened with 2 contract addendums. We asked questions. Melissa said "Any specific detail changes to this contract will be handled in the extended planning sessions." - They marginalized me while behaving towards my husband. We had a recurrent problem where I would send an email, no response, husband reminds them, and they respond quickly. One time they ignored my email for five days. When he replied to my note, they responded to him within the hour. I don't know if it's because he's a man, he makes more money than I do, or they simply didn't like me. - If we didn't get it in writing, they often denied it. There are numerous topics that I am certain we discussed verbally but unfortunately I didn't have it in writing. With the issue mentioned above, they insisted we never discussed it, and they only agreed to do it because we found written confirmation. - We needed to spend at least $2,000 at their design studio, but we didn't have any trouble exceeding the minimum. We had very minimal design requirements, brought in an outside florist for the bouquets, and our initial quote was over $1,900, not counting the $700 tablecloth rental. - Menu changes come with an upcharge. You only get to put out one salad dressing. If you want your guests to have a choice, there is an $0.50 per person. Mashed potatoes come with no toppings. Want to add something as simple as sour cream or chives? One dollar per person for each topping. - We paid more than 80% of the adult rate for children aged 4-9. Children starting at age 10 are charged full price. The menu says "reduced rate" for children, but the aren't mentioned until much later in the process. They get a 20% discount on the base price for the buffet, but they are full price for drinks, dessert, and add-ons. I don't know if they would also be charged 100% for drink packages with alcohol. - We had to convince them to let us have a menu tasting. They offered us a "tasting box" with six items from another event's menu but only one or two from our menu. None of these options had our main dishes included. They said the point of a tasting box is to understand the quality of the food, not our specific menu. I want to thank Kristin, the CEO, for her help. Two months before our wedding, she allowed us to switch from the Atrium to Flint Hill (for a cost of $3,500) The change in venue couldn't fix corporate policies and staff difficulties though. I can honestly say that planning this wedding was one of the worst experiences of my life. Good luck, future brides and grooms. read more

This is a review I hoped I would not have to write, because the day of our wedding was really quite beautiful. Our second event coordinator Jessica was great (she took extra care to provide a special meal to a family member), and the CEO Kristin did speak directly with my wife during the planning process to ensure mounting concerns were heard. Unfortunately, facility leadership chose to describe my wife's concerns as "misunderstandings which were limited to our experience with you," a characterization that is neither accurate nor fair to us or those who read these reviews. Bottom line up front: If you choose A Divine Event, keep a close eye on every budget line item in the evolving invoice process. The following facts, based on documentation, are not misunderstandings: 1. Our first event coordinator replied negatively or vaguely to most e-mailed questions we had about menu alterations, tainting our experience early on. Answers later evolved as a much more attentive coordinator (Jessica) took over. If you choose to have an event with A Divine Event, I suggest in-person or virtual meetings (with written minutes) if you find it hard to convey ideas (as I did) over email. 2. It was not our misunderstanding but a fact that a new invoice showed desserts suddenly increased $.50 per person. (This was fixed after we caught it.) 3. It was not our misunderstanding but a fact that a $150 early arrival fee credit became only a $2 credit. (This was fixed after we caught it.) 4. It was not our misunderstanding but a fact that tablecloths increased inexplicably by $5 with a new invoice. (This was fixed after we caught it.) 5. It was not our misunderstanding but a fact that 11 days before the wedding we were emailed that a draft of our large "Welcome sign" would be ready to review "within the next week" after we had discussed it for months (This was fixed after we caught it.) In the end, Laura and her team created a beautiful sign....If only we could have been spared the stress! While none of these invoice changes or communication challenges ruined the day, they were annoying changes in documentation (not misunderstandings) that undermined our trust in the company. Some other facts (not misunderstandings) that degraded the experience: 1. As the process proceeded, my emails were consistently answered much faster than my wife's emails. I hesitate to mischaracterize this pattern, but it existed and is objectively demonstrable. 2. We looked forward to take-home goodies that included each item from the buffet. Mahi Mahi was the main dish but we were not given any. Additionally, within our take-home basket were mini, 8oz waters. After all we spent, it seemed odd not to get a sample of the main dish and not even full bottles (16oz?) of water. Better to leave the water out! Maybe this one is just a pet peeve and, again, not a big deal, but it was one last annoying straw. 3. It is a fact that our first contact with our "day of" wedding coordinator was via email only 9 days before the event, and our only call with her (8 minutes) was 6 days before the event. This key individual should be involved in earlier planning sessions. 4. It is a fact that there continue to be questions if on-site security (which we paid for) was present during our daytime events, and not just that evening for a different event. Did any of these issues ruin the day? Absolutely not. Flint Hill is a beautiful facility and we appreciate the work of staff who worked hard to make the day a reality. But are these issues simply my wife's misunderstandings? No. And unfortunately my rating must represent the majority of the experience and not just the day itself. Our company holiday party this year was held inside Mershon Hall at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. A Divine Event catered the food and it was delicious. I estimate we had roughly 130-140 attendees. The evening started off with an indoor-outdoor cocktail hour inside Mershon Hall's ballroom and outside on the cordoned-off patio facing the Botanical Garden's Levy Parterre and its beautiful blue-and-white Italian limestone fountain. There was an open bar with drinks choices galore. Servers from A Divine Event walked around serving an assortment of hors d'oeuvres. My favorites were the ahi tuna crisps and vegetable spring rolls with peanut sauce. Each ahi tuna crisp consisted of a lightly seared ahi tuna slice served atop a small cracker. The spring rolls, each of which could be finished in two bites, were served in shot glasses filled with peanut sauce. Crispy and tasty. There was a brief delay in dinner service. When it started, the lines were long. Three dinner stations were set up. I think several people thought there was just one line that hit all three stations, but there was actually a separate line for each station. It wasn't a big deal however as the lines dispersed quickly. We jumped to the shortest line which was the salad line. Here's a breakdown of the stations: Dinner station 1: * Baby Blue Salad - Boston Bibb lettuce, bleu cheese, grape tomatoes, sweet & spicy pecans, cranberries, citrus vinagrette * Coffee Braised Boneless Short Ribs - green tomato avocado relish Dinner station 2: * Smashed Potato Martinis - wild mushroom ragout, cheese, bacon, chives, sour cream Dinner station 3: * Parmesan Crusted Chicken - lemon cream sauce with artichoke hearts and wild mushrooms, herbed rice pilaf, slivered asparagus spears Dessert station: * Biscotti cookies, assorted chocolate truffles, fruit mousse cups, mini red velvet cakes, white & dark chocolate bark and shavings, chocolate-dipped strawberries, mini fudge cakes, iced chocolate cream cheese brownies, white chocolate cheesecake bars, and more Drink station (separate from bar): * Coffee (caffeinated and decaf) * Hot mocha chocolate * Spiced chai tea * Hot apple cider * Whipped cream, chocolate shavings, marshmallows I was impressed with both the quality of the food and the manner in which it was plated. This wasn't a self-serve buffet, but one where each dinner station had an attendant. I've been to a lot of weddings and parties catered by several of Atlanta's good/established catering companies and I think A Divine Event is right up there with them. The food was fresh and satisfying and the staff was polite and friendly. I'm a fan of Bibb lettuce and was glad to see it on the menu. The coffee-braised short ribs forked apart effortlessly. The "smashed potato martinis" was an interesting take on mashed potatoes as the mashed potatoes and toppings were served inside martini glasses. I was surprised at how tender and flavorful the chicken Parmesan was. The herbed pilaf was soft and fluffy and the cream sauce and veggies were delectable. The dessert table was an overload of enticing sweets. It was hard not to want to take one of everything. I ended up grabbing some cookies, a mini red velvet cake, and a fruit mousse cup which contained blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. I loved that the drink station had a canister of spiced chai tea, already sweetened too. I drank three cups total throughout the evening. A cup of steaming hot chai was perfect for taking on a winter stroll through the garden. The layout for the evening consisted of circular dinner tables, covered in blue tablecloths, seating 10 guests each. The centerpieces were illuminated spherical bowls with translucent, jelly-like "marbles" surrounded by small candles and glittery, ornamental snowflakes. There were also standing-height tables around the perimeter of the ballroom and out on the heat-lamp heated patio. Overall, I thought A Divine Event did a fantastic job. Bravo. read more

This company worked directly with my venue, Flint Hill, so planning went very smooth. They did my florals, decor, and catering. I worked with Emily Fleming at the Deign Studio, and she made all of my ideas come true. I'm not the most creative, but I had a rough idea for what I imagined, and she suggested the most amazing decor pieces and florals that went perfect with the theme I wanted. As for the catering side, there was a large variety of dishes to choose from; it was so hard making a decision. It was phenomenally delicious, and the guests continuously said how good the food was throughout the night. My husband and I had A Divine Event cater our wedding, and it was an absolutely incredible meal and amazing experience. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone needing catering for their wedding. Even to this day, two and half years after our wedding, I have guests telling me they remembered the delicious food at the wedding. My husband is Korean and we had a lot of Korean guest attend the wedding, so we wanted some Korean menu items for all of our guests to enjoy. The kimchi and Korean short ribs were an absolute hit and guest favorite for everyone at the wedding. I am also a rather picky eater, so Divine Event was able to allow us to customize our meal so that there were also a good amount of vegetarian items for me to enjoy. They even asked for our specific meal preferences in advance, my husband and I, and our plates were prepared and delivered to us at our table as we wished. The desserts too were just amazing. The short review: A Divine Event (ADE) catered my wedding 3 weeks ago. It was amazing. Their people were a pleasure to work with and the food was perfection. I would absolutely use them again and would not even think twice about it. I very highly recommend them to anyone! The long review for the detailed people (like me): From the beginning, ADE was awesome. I didn't have a super amazing budget and they worked with me to get what I needed at a price I could afford. Steve Moore, their Senior Social Account Exec, was always quick to respond to my emails and answered my hundreds of questions with enthusiasm. The tasting was great. The whole staff was super nice and did not rush our tasting. The chef came in and explained all of the dishes to us. We were able to enjoy the food, ask questions and make changes, as needed. Steve helped us to develop a menu that was perfect for us. We had passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour and three chef-attended action stations for the reception. More on the food in a moment... When I arrived at the venue on the day of my wedding, ADE was already there setting up. The only person that I talked with that day was Marla, the server that ADE put in charge of making sure my husband and I were taken care of. She was awesome! She made sure we had drinks and took food to the bridal suite so that we could steal away and grab a quick bite before going back to our guests. I didn't talk to any other ADE people because I didn't have to! They took care of everything. My wedding coordinator and cake baker said that everyone from ADE was super nice, that they were really on top of things and just handled the event perfectly. Now, onto the food. It was the absolute best. Our three action stations were amazing. We had a Tilapia Taco station. This was my favorite of them all. The tacos were so perfect and the sauce just set it off! We also had a pasta station with three different pastas: Penne Pasta with a Lemon Cream Sauce, Chicken and Spinach; Pasta Marinara with Mama Mia's Meatballs; and Penne with a Vodka Cream Sauce with Roasted Cauliflower and Spicy Sausalito. All of the pastas were absolutely delicious. And lastly, we had a Southern Braised Roast with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Stir Fried Collard Greens. The roast was a favorite of our guests. The food was so full of flavor, everything was very hot and the lines for all the action stations moved quickly. They also put a bag in our driver's car that had a good portion of food from each of our actions stations, two pieces of cake and a box of truffles. Since we didn't get to eat a lot at the wedding, this was a lifesaver! I was so thankful to actually get to eat a full piece of our wedding cake! Now, exactly three weeks after our wedding, people are still talking about the food! A few days ago, someone said that they never leave a wedding remembering the food and they still think about how good our food was. Another person said it was the best wedding food that they've ever had. Several of our guys said that they had two or three servings of the roast because it was "just that good." Overall, it was a major success. I cannot possibly thank A Divine Event enough for all they did to make our night perfect. Food (quality, flavor, presentation) Even though it was monkey-brains-insane on the wedding day, we did opt to do the private meal upstairs in the bridal suite. THANK GOD we decided to do this. It was the perfect time for us to take a breath and actually eat, instead of starve while being pulled in all directions downstairs with the guests. The quality of food was good. I thought the appetizers were much better than the entrees, personally. I loved the spanakopita. It was on-point--crispy and fluffy on the outside, warm and cheesy-spinach goodness on the inside. The texture and flavor were awesome. I was also very pleased with the spicy Thai beef on endive. The meat was not chewy and the flavors went well together. The jalapeno cheese was meh. The salmon was a bit dry and bland, but nothing terrible. The salad was wonderful. So much so, in fact, that I heard the guests ran out of the salad pretty early on. I don't think all my guests got to enjoy the beautiful summer salad mixed greens. I also hear we ran out of the bourbon peppercorn flank steak, again disappointing. I don't know if that means it was just too delicious or the portion was just too small. I tried it and thought it was good, but a bit too tough. We did thoroughly appreciate the to-go baskets that were packed. We devoured it all that same night after midnight...after I was changed and comfortable, haha. read more

A Divine Event stayed in communication with me so we would not have any suprises. We used A Divine Event Catering for our company holiday party in 2012. To this day, I still have co-workers asking where we found our caterer and who the company was. They left a lasting impression on the company and our staff. The food was hot, service and staff were EXCELLENT. What was the best is that for all that we received, the cost was all still within budget. A Divine Event just cancelled on catering my wedding in September with absolutely no warning, even though I booked them and signed a contract (and sent a deposit!) last November. The explanation was that they are now only catering events at venues they own, leaving those of us at outside venues with cancelled contracts and no catering. We had such high hopes based on our tasting. Unfortunately, the foods we chose, when produced for a wedding of 100, was very standard wedding fare. Forgettable at best and over-cooked at worst. For the price we paid, I expected a lot more. The service was excellent and our captain worked her tail off, but overall I'd skip it. There are more affordable places that offer this quality of food. We initially chose them because the pricing was very competitive, the menu looked delicious, and Robin was quick and courteous when responding to our many questions. A Divine Event is handling our upcoming wedding (they are the preferred vendor for our venue) and they are taking care of the food, flowers, decor, lighting...pretty much everything. I walked into our consultation today not really knowing what I wanted, except that I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg, and that I knew what my wedding colors were. That was pretty much it. Our advisor Sara walked us through the process, took a look at my dress, and gave bouquet suggestions that I was really happy with. The process was a lot less overwhelming than I thought it would be, and there are a lot of options to choose from, so I think no matter your budget you are bound to find something you really love. I also liked that this is basically a showroom, so you can see a lot of your linen and decor options in person. Our final quote for the flowers alone was less than I thought it would be- less than what we had been guesstimate quoted at a well known florist nearby, and what we are paying for food the amount of people we are expecting? I actually kind of think it's a steal. I would very highly recommend them to anyone planning any sort of event. read more

My (now) husband and I had the pleasure of having Divine Event cater our wedding. We had the buffet option, three passed hors d'oeuvres, and cake cutting. We cannot say enough good things about A Divine Event and by extension - Deb, our project manager. Our amazing experience would not have been possible without her attention to detail and finesse. My parents live in Boston and so organizing a time for us all to chat with Deb and the various other planners sometimes proved tricky - Deb was present for EVERY SINGLE MEETING as well as various conference calls. It was very important to my husband and I that we find food that is not 'regular wedding food' and food that we loved. We made a few substitutions with the menu throughout the process and ended up with three proteins for the buffet (Thai Red Curry Salmon, Parmesan Encrusted Chicken, and Grilled Flank Steak with Chimichurri) and various sides. Everything was piping hot for each of our 110 guests. I have not stopped hearing how amazing the food was and that it was the best 'wedding food' many of our guests had ever had. We also procured all of our linens, bartending staff, and various other decor items from A Divine Event as well. The staff that worked the actual event were amazing. Our specific server was Amy - amazing. Thank you Amy for such an incredible evening. The other staff were incredible also, and I wish I remembered their names. Long story short, A Divine Event was perfect. We had the most amazing day and it is due in large part to this company and the incredible staff that they hire. I have now used A Divine Event for 3 separate catering events. All of the events took place in my home, but ranged in size, season and purpose. They did a fabulous job from start to finish on all three functions. The staff is absolutely amazing; true professionals who make it easy to host an event for 12 to a large party for 100. Whatever your event is, A Divine Event will work with you to fit it for your needs. The food is always spectacular. I make a point to test out new menus each time. I've also sampled food at other events where I've been the guest. I truly have never had anything that wasn't exceptional. This is for the Nocross location. The food was phenomenal. The cake was great. The decorations were completely wrong. I wanted leaves from local trees in fall colors scattered around a tall candle with a floating candle in the middle of the tables at the reception. Sarah at the design studio told me all of their leaves were hand picked the day of from local trees. Sounded perfect. I specified red, yellow, and orange leaves, all the colors that make fall beautiful. Complete lie about the "hand picked" part. They came straight from Kroger (I know this because I saw them later in October when I was there shopping) every one looking exactly the same ( long skinny yellow with weird red tips) and looked so fake the wedding planner went and touched them because she was alarmed too. Good thing I paid $10 a table for just the leaves that someone picked up the day of from the local grocery store instead of letting me bring my own leaves like I wanted. But of course, if you do a wedding with Magic Moments, you are required to get your decorations through this company exclusively. Decorations are "rented" for 3-4x what it would cost you to buy and keep the materials. But no, this is of course not allowed. read more

I was a little nervous planning a social event for my colleagues from afar.....we were all traveling from various locations for a conference in Atlanta. A Divine Event was so easy to work with, they handled all of the fine details down to table center pieces (that I had forgotten about) the week before the event. They even recommended the linen color (a spiced orange - which is a little outside the box for me) and it looked amazing at our venue location. Although they were exceptional to work with and paid close attention to the fine details of our planning......that's not even the best part. Their food was AMAZING!
