"Meh, I've experienced better" pretty much sums up my experience...
I grew up in the area but never went to this salon, but I was visiting and wanted my hair blown out straight and there aren't many places in town so I basically picked it out of a hat.
They scheduled me at the same time as someone else (I'm guessing because I was "just" a blowout) so after my hair washing, I had to sit under the dryer (which I've never had to do, ever, for a blow out) for 35 minutes while my girl worked on her highlighting client. I tried not to be annoyed, because I figured it might still turn out well...but after 35 minutes under the dryer I was a bit ticked.
Previously, I had told her that "They usually pull it straight with a round brush and finish with a flat iron." Easy, clear, and concise direction, right? Apparently she had other ideas or completely forgot what I had said--because even though my hair was still damp enough to finish with a round brush, she continued to dry it using only a wide-tooth comb--which meant it didn't get very straight (there were still some waves in it) just from the blow-drying. Then she used the flat iron on my non-straightened hair.
SERIOUSLY? THIS IS A BLOW OUT? UGH.
I guess it turned out OKAY, but I didn't pay for OKAY. *I* could have done it so it turned out like that, but I PAID someone else to do it so it would turn out BETTER than okay. Yes, it still saved me 30ish minutes on my feet doing something I don't particularly like, but it definitely wasn't the quality that I expected. At the end, I even had to ask if she had a product she could put on to help smooth it out! Who doesn't do that automatically?!
So this is the second blow out in two different cities that didn't go as expected. I hope my luck gets better next year. read more
