The folks who provide support and assistance were amazing, especially Filomena Lawless and Steve Murphy. Filomena offers such kindness to both residents and their families, and for that I am forever grateful. Steve was a text away, offering quick responses and helping us find who best to speak to in a few cases. The care staff in Assisted Living were incredibly helpful, especially Darlene and Mom's favorite caregiver, Bob, and kept a close eye on Mom's health, even picking up on health issues she hid from us. Mom made a wonderful friend and cribbage companion during her time there, a late in life relationship whose loss was particularly difficult for her. When she had problems with her room, both in independent and assisted living, the staff responded quickly and they were easy to interact with and very friendly. Joe, the man who provides transport, was always ready with a friendly joke and appropriate teasing and always brought a smile to Mom's face. He also brought her several cards after she was out of the buidling for a health issue. The front desk staff were helpful. So why only three stars? Mom was never very happy about the overall food quality on a day to day basis. Given the rental cost and the fact that that cost increased every year, we would have been happy to pay the increase if there were tangible improvements. During the time she lived there, whenever I would talk to local folks about Brookdale, especially people who had family there, the food quality seemed to be a common theme. The biggest complaint I have came at the end of her stay. At that point, you know that despite the friendliness and care of so many people, ultimately this is a business designed to make money and answer to a board of directors. Mom had to enter a hospital and then a rehab facility and we were hopeful for a time she would be able to return to her apartment. Once it was clear we needed to vacate her apartment, we began the process of recovering rent and assisted living care costs that had been automatically withdrawn from her checking account, per Brookdale's policy. At that point, she was in a rehab facility that was no longer covered by insurance, so she was in need of those funds, amounting to thousands of dollars. Each time we attempted to get an answer about the timeline, we received a different answer about how the process worked and when we would receive her refund. When we tried face to face meetings to that end, the director became testy. It took a full two months after she was completely moved out of Brookdale to finally have the funds in our hands. Bottom line: there are a lot of positive things about this facility, but beware it is a corporation - slow to change and respond.

They love the food, they've made some new friends and they've been well taken care of. Covid has meant some adjustments but things are mostly back to normal now that everyone has been vaccinated. I recommend it as a safe and enjoyable place for your parents to live.

My mother had a walker never fell in a lifetime but she was sent by emergency due to a bad fall hitting her head at this place. She had to have stitches because of it. When my mother passed away it wasn't as bad as seeing her in this Horrible Place. The people working in the lobby weren't so great either. I asked my husband to wait for me as l stepped out to get the car. When I looked up the woman who answers the phones was stirring at us like she's never seen people before, so l decided not to leave him alone with her. Shes a busybody and a know it all but knows nothing. Always with a book making believe that she's reading l just can't stand this place, l won't even drive by it. Well landscaped on the outside as for the inside it's worse than a prison. I prefer to go to the graveyard before I ever go to a place like this. I promised my husband who hated it there that he would never leave my side or care. I took care of this man in everyway, so this is a place for people to do away with their loved ones. Instead of taking care of their own which is cold and heartless they just dump them here and forget about them. Someday they will answer to A Higher Authority.

Compassionate Staff, and Peace of Mind…read more Moving a loved one into a nursing home is never an easy decision, but choosing Bay Path was absolutely the right one. From day one, the staff made our family feel supported, informed, and genuinely cared for. The nursing team is attentive, professional, and incredibly compassionate. They take the time to explain care plans, medications, and any changes in health clearly and patiently. It's obvious that resident safety, dignity, and comfort are their top priorities. The facility itself is clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. Common areas are bright and inviting, and the rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. There are daily activities that keep residents engaged -- from social events and games to therapy services and wellness programs. It truly feels like a community, not just a care center. Communication has been excellent. The administration is responsive, transparent, and proactive. Any questions we've had were answered quickly, and we always feel informed about our loved one's care. Most importantly, we've seen firsthand how respectfully and kindly the staff treats residents. They know them by name, understand their preferences, and treat them like family. If you're looking for a skilled nursing facility that prioritizes compassionate care, cleanliness, professionalism, and strong communication, I highly recommend Bay Path. Our family finally has peace of mind knowing our loved one is safe and well cared for.

First off let's discuss the visitation policy. You have to make an appointment 24 hours in advance to see your loved one. You can't bring any bags or purses in. Am I visiting a hospital or a prison? They said it's Covid protocols but all Covid restriction have lifted in every health care facilities and as far as I know my purse doesn't cough. They want 24 hours notice so they can make sure your family member looks like they are taken care of. Let me say that there was some staff members that were wonderful, patient and kind. Respiratory therapy, PT and OT were great. I admit my father is not the easiest patient but when you have no ability to communicate with people behavior is the only way you have to get the point across. He is vent dependent and unable to speak. Speech therapy was non existent. She gave him a thick binder he had to flip through to get to what he wanted to say and gave him a card with the alphabet on it. These would be fine if they had bothered to take into account he is vision impaired and couldn't read any of it. One nurse was so rough cleaning him that he started to refuse to get washed. Because of his disease he is unable to control his head movement. When they turned him to wash him they hit his head on the side rail of the bed 3 different times and also pushed his trach into the side rail when turning him. They took no account of the pain he was in. I had to fight to get him so much as oxycodone. My dad even told us that one night a staff member told him she would love to watch him burn. When we brought this to their attention instead of investigating the complaint the case manager said they were sending him to a facility in Boston with less than 24 hours notice. We had no opportunity to tour the facility. It's 55 miles away from where he lives which forces my 70 year old stepmother to drive into Boston daily. They told us if we appealed we would have to pay out of pocket for him to stay there. Such a nice thing to do, to isolate a dying man from his family. They took a family nightmare and amplified it by 1000. One day it will be them in the bed and I hope karma gives them exactly what they deserve. People aren't dollar signs. They likely will attempt to challenge this review or have some comment. What they did to my father and our family was criminal. There is no heart or compassion in this place. 10 out of 10 do not recommend. Addendum: When we got to the new facility and they did his skin check vibra never even put a dressing on his wound. Instead they just stuffed some gauze between butt cheeks so he laid on an ambulance stretcher for almost 2 hours with no protection. And within hours spiked a temp with an aspiration pneumonia. So I guess they didn't bother to hold his tube feeding before left. As a healthcare professional I strongly recommend not sending anyone you love to this dump
