This is an absolutely beautiful store! Many different crystals to choose from and extremely reasonable prices. Jewelry, gifts, and all different types of crystals for you collection. Everything we purchased was carefully wrapped with cards explaining the name and uses of the crystals. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. Really nice store. read more

I had a completely opposite experience at A Broader Concept than the previous reviewer. First, I want to point out that they do tell you on the website to call first as at times they close due to mineral processing, inventory, re-stocking & cleaning. Additionally, on the door they do have a sign requesting you to turn off your phone and no photos. Had the previous reviewer realized this, I think their experience would had been very different at the store. In any event, my experience was wonderful! The owners were two of the nicest people I've ever met. I liked the store so much, I ended up going back later in the day to buy extra items. I went in expecting to buy a few items and left with many items, including a few free items the man threw in for me, which was a pleasant surprise. Their prices are very reasonable, in fact on some items I purchased, I looked on Amazon and the stores prices were lower! They include a information sheet for each gemstone you purchase. Everything is packaged and wrapped with care. The store has many unique items for yourself or gifts. I highly recommend checking it out, just call them first to make sure they are in fact open. Honestly one of the worst crystal shops I've been in. Not only is it over priced, they lie. I bought what I thought was citrine was actually just baked amethyst. Which wouldn't bother some people but when you're looking for something specific it can be annoying. Not only are they selling fake items, while I was there I felt extremely uncomfortable the whole time. They watched my every move and when I picked a card to read the owner scolded me bc he assumed I was *stealing* his display cards. You'll never catch me back in that shit hole lmao I even called to just let him know I got my crystal looked at and was told it was clearly a fake... instead of any sort of apology he became defensive and upset and tried to tell me who I went to was basically and idiot that doesn't know anything. I read another review and I am relieved to see that I am not alone. I last set foot in this place about ten years ago. My husband and I went in with our daughter. She was about five years old. She was and still is a very well behaved and quiet girl. As soon as we walked in I saw the male shop keeper eye her. I had her hand and told her to look but not touch. She showed interest in the stones which were located in bins. I asked her if she would like me to get her one and she was delighted! I kneeled down beside her and told her to pick a stone and I'd buy it. As soon as her finger touched the stone the male owner yelled at her to not mix up the stones in the bins. That said, my husband and I sensed his displeasure and with a quick glance my husband scooped her up and took her to the car. I stayed to pay, which was a big mistake on my part. As soon as the door closed behind my husband the owner turned his aggression on me!!! He started to scream at me for letting my daughter touch anything. I told him she was picking out a stone for us to buy, but it didn't matter, he was furious. He scared me to death, if you were to see him, he is not a small man. I left shaking and I'm not small myself - I'm 5'9 woman and was about 30 years old at the time. That said, I squirreled by the man (who was blocking my path to the door) and left without buying anything. My husband called the police since this man made me feel so threatened. This person is completely crazy. I live in town and ten years later, I still feel uncomfortable whenever I drive by the place. I think the best word to describe the man is RAGE. To this day I avoid driving by that store. Very bad and angry man. I think his mean spiritedness and rage has sucked away any good energy the stones may have had. read more

all of the staff were wearing masks, and sanitizing constantly. The staff were so kind and considerate to me and my sister who were first time shoppers. they are family owned and do an amazing job at staying clean. the environment in the store the second you walk in is so incredibly inviting and calming. i could spend hours in there and i will definitely be back again! read more

I have been a regular customer since 2006 . I have found many gift items and many handmade jewelry wire wrapped items. They are wonderful people to do business with . I also have used them for custom work in jewelry and have many unique pieces. This is a very upscale store with many museum type pieces that deserve respect when viewing them for purchase . I wish I had thought to place a note on Yelp sooner. My husband and I have been coming to A Broader Concept for about 10 years. My husband's brother had purchased, for our home, one of the onyx bear lamps and could not say enough good things about this store to my husband. We could not wait to check the store out for ourselves as my husband is an avid rockhound. We have gone in to browse and to buy with a purpose and Craig and Sharon have never once tried to push a sale on us. When the bank account allows we head straight to A Broader Concept to seek out a new treasure. My husband's background in geology along with Craig and Sharon's knowledge and love of all things rock and mineral can make our visit there a long one. To their credit, no matter how long we've stayed and whether or not we purchased anything, they never made us feel unwelcome. I've learned so much from Sharon regarding using crystals for metaphysical purposes and Craig and my husband, it seems, could talk for hours about the fossils and minerals that are displayed so beautifully in this little ( though they set it up so well it seems bigger) shop. As another reviewer stated some of the pieces are museum quality and they display them with just as much care as any museum. When you enter the store you are greeted warmly by either Craig or Sharon ( or both if you're lucky to come in when they are both there) as well as softly playing music and the sound of trickling water from a small fountain. The experience is very calming as you wander through the displays looking as all the wonders the earth has given us. Ask any question and get them answered with a smile and the knowledge of where each item came from and the history of the area. I now know more about the minerals found in New England than I could imagine knowing. The prices are so amazingly reasonable that just about any trip in will allow you to leave with something. The folks here are always willing to talk to any kids you would bring with you as well and I have yet to see any child leave empty handed as Craig, I think, feels so compelled to pass on the love of rocks and minerals that he will gladly give a child a little something to start off their own collection, free of charge and with great information about the trinket. We have yet to be disappointed in any visit and have benefitted GREATLY from their generosity. We display all of our purchases from A Broader Concept proudly and have received more complements than we can count regarding their beauty. I cannot say this to enough people... VISIT THIS STORE!!! Awesome store. Very interesting place and great to bring your kids. But... keep them supervised some very breakable items . I would give this place 10 stars if I could! The selection, quality, and price are just unbeatable. I'm a huge crystal lover and try to go to shops in every town I visit. The rocks here are simply stunning!!! Big beautiful stones and tiny precious pocket stones and everything in between. Wands, pendulums, jewelry, books and even the most exquisite framed butterflies. I was spellbound. Coming from the west coast, the prices at Broader Concept blow my mind! The regular prices at this store beat typical sales prices at other stores. Love this store!!! Very knowledgeable ! There is a strict child policy there, but I completely understand why, little people have curios little fingers. The couple who own the shop, Craig and Sharon, are absolutely the most knowledgeable and honest people that I know in this industry. They take great pride in offering only the best quality merchandise, and they are always very fair on pricing so you never have to worry about spending more on something than it is worth. In fact, I can guarantee you will walk away with a great deal! They make a fantastic team and a lovely couple too! They have filled their shop with many gorgeous one-of-a-kind pieces. Went into this store today with my 12 year old son, was looking around, and my son went near a large crystal on the floor, I thought the owner was going to jump over the counter, he started to yell at my son for going near his crystal, why have it on display if no one should get near it, then he said I don't like kids in my store, and has signs all over saying things about this store is not for children , I am a business owner for over 30 years, and have never treated a customer like this, we went in to buy something, but the only rocks this guy has is in his head, there are lots of other places to shop for this stuff in NH, so stay away from this place, kids are what make life great, and if you hate kids then you should not be open to the public, I feel sorry for this guy and he must hate life.crystals are supposed to give off good energy, but with a owner like this I would guess everything in this store has bad energy. read more

Good selection and price but I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcomed. My 7 year old collects gemstone so he, my daughter and I went as we have been to many stores like this before. I always prep them beforehand to be respectful and to not touch anything without asking if it's ok first. Right when we walked in, the woman behind the counter gave a look of annoyance that there were two kids in the shop. She went behind a door and came back with her husband. He was nice but continually told the kids that they would get cut if they touched the sharp geodes, to stay with their mom and tried persuading me into buying the $2.00 pre bagged mixed stones while my daughter and I were looking at the loose ones, almost to deter us from looking through them. I understand they have high quality items and understand that kids can be destructive but felt like that was predetermined about my kids right when we walked in. My kids were extremely well behaved, respectful of the products and my daughter, who is 4 even pointed at each don't not touch sign and repeated "Do not touch" and she didn't. We were there to buy (and we spent a lot of money), not to look and cause trouble. Their prices are good and quality is great but I felt very self conscious today. I had the misfortune to stop into this shop while out and about with my family on our day off. We were driving by and my husband saw the shop and its sign stating that they sell crystals. He stopped as I am a crystal collector and use them as well for energy healing. When we entered the store we were greeted by the owners, a husband and wife we learned, who asked somewhat condescendingly if we knew anything about crystals. I explained I collect them and use them in connection with Reiki. While I looked about my husband and 12 year old son waited patiently for me to examine the crystals. My son who is a generally very well behaved boy walked near the large crystals on the floor, and moved his foot in the vicinity of the crystal. The next thing I knew the owner was yelling very loudly at my son, screaming that these are worth thousands of dollars. (I thought to myself why then is it just left out in the open where anyone could walk near or into it?) He did not just admonish my son but kept going on and on. My son who is very sensitive to criticism, started to apologize profusely and was on the verge of tears. I had selected 4 small crystals at this point, and was about to pay. I considered just putting them back and walking out, but against my better judgement I decided to just purchase them, as I had been looking for these particular crystals for a while. It was supposed to be two crystals for a dollar, but I realized after walking out that I had been charged $3 for my four small crystals and that I had been overcharged. But at this point I just wanted to leave this unpleasant place. We walked out. As we were leaving I also saw there were signs all over with rules about cell phones and children etc. I have never in all my days ever entered a store which purports to be a positive place of crystal healing with such bad energy. I am going to have to go home and smudge these crystals to remove the pall of this place. read more

Absolutely never coming back. I went there once before they closed to just check it out and saw some neat stuff. I told a few friends, then came back today with one of my friends. We drove all the way out just to go to this store and I had intended to purchase a couple of things. While browsing, my friend noticed a very tall, around 10 foot geode they have in the store. Thinking it very impressive and pretty cool she took a photo of me standing next to it. "Did you just take a photo?" A woman from behind the counter asked. We replied yes, and a man ran over and said "there's no photos in here." We apologized, my friend said she would delete the photo (and did), explaining that she just wanted to show her husband. After she deleted said photo, the man asked if it was her first time in the store. She said yes, and he demanded to know "WHY WOULD YOU TAKE A PICTURE WITHOUT ASKING FIRST?". I replied because other stores let us and he said "well this one doesn't" and proceeded to go on and on about how rude we were for taking a photo. We promptly left within five minutes of arriving. Will never come back, these people are SO rude and you just lost two if not a BUNCH more customers because of your rudeness.
