I took in three pair of pants to have pockets sewn together. They sat at the alterations shop for over a month. I needed them for an overseas trip. I called and asked if they could be finished early (by a day) or if they would at least be finished on the day promised. The tailor told me none of the pants had been worked on yet and she was not positive the pants would be finished on the day promised. I then called the morning of the day promised and ended up leaving a message on their vm. No call was returned. I went in after I returned from my trip and picked up my pants, which still had not been touched. I guess I will be sewing the pockets myself and will find another tailor as well. This is NOT a reliable shop and the lady had no response other then "sorry" on as to why the pants were not worked on. read more

They could be a "Better Alteration" however, 50% of the time they turn my repair away and direct me to another alteration service. They've even accepted the repair only to call two weeks later to tell me they couldn't fix it. And once had to dry clean $$$ my husband's carhart work pants because they couldn't stand the smell. Don't, just don't. I needed a patch on a blanket. Simple, but I don't own a sewing machine. After a discussion, they took on a job they were obviously ill-equipped to perform. The blanket looked like it was patched by a young child and they actually did more damage. When I called to ask them to work with me to fix what they'd done, they were refused and actually blamed me. A Better Alteration does a good job of the job at hand; however, my last job for them, overall, was not satisfactory. I had several long-sleeve cotton tees that the sleeves needed hemming. The cost was $20 per shirt, which I feel is exorbitant. In the past, I have paid $10 for this service, so I was shocked when they quoted me $20. Nevertheless, I needed the job done, so I paid their fee. They, as usual, did a good, neat, professional job on hemming the shirt sleeves. However, I had brought the clean shirts into them in a plastic bag, with all of the shirts neatly folded. When I picked them up after the hemming, they were all just thrown together in the same bag, unfolded, and consequently, came out severely wrinkled. I hung them all up, and and several days later, they are still very wrinkled. I wil have to wash them all again to get the wrinkles out. I expected better treatment of my shirts. I expected them to be returned to me folded neatly, and they weren't. So, overall, even tho the job itself was satisfactory, the cost and the unfolded, wrinkled condition of my shirts on return made this particular job unsatisfactory. I have to say, I have used A Better Alteration many times before over the past several years, and have never had a complaint as to cost or condition of my clothing on pickup, but they fell very short of expectation this time around. read more

I know that most women out there will agree with me and understand when I say that it is difficult to find a bra that you like. And even when you do, they aren't cheap garments! So when my husband put my favorite bras through the dryer without putting them in my delicate bag, causing the hooks to snag on other clothes and twist out of shape, I was frustrated to say the least. He knew about A Better Alteration through his work for Mirror Pond Dry Cleaners and talked to Gwendy (the owner) on my behalf. She said that she could repair my bras, no problem. I took them into her shop and within days she had my bras repaired, good as new, at a fraction of what it would've cost me to replace them all brand new. The girls in the shop were super helpful and nice, as well. Overall, I was super pleased with the work they did, and will definitely be back the next time I need an alteration done. read more
