I cannot say enough good things about A Baby Step Adoption. Some highlights: 1. Startup. When we first signed with them they did a great tutorial covering what to expect, costs, timeframe, things to consider, etc. It was incredibly informative and a great way to kick off the relationship. 2. Birthmother matching. I love the way they transparently match birthmothers with potential adoptive couples. They send out birthmother profiles to all clients currently looking for a match. If you think you're a good fit for the situation you tell ABSA to submit your profile to the birthmother. Then the birthmothers looks through all of the profiles and chooses an adoptive couple. Then you have at least one mediated introductory conversation before both parties decide if they're a good match for each other. It's an anxiety-producing experience but ABSA made us comfortable. 3. The pregnancy. We were matched with our birthmother when she was four months along. ABSA did a great job working with the birthmother and providing us with information. We ran into a few difficulties with our birthmother along the way, but ABSA went above and beyond to ensure that she and we were comfortable with everything that was happening. 4. The birth. ABSA was at the hospital as soon as the baby was born and acted as an excellent representative for both us and the birthmother in the hospital environment. They also did an amazing job shepherding all of the paper work and other items that are required in this situation. 5. Finalization. ABSA made it very clear what we had to to prepare for the finalization process. And on the finalization day we had an excellent experience at the courthouse. They've also continued to check in with us to see how everything's going. Final thoughts: when it comes to something as important as adoption, you want to work with people who you can trust, who are experienced, and who are professionals. ABSA is all of those things and more. They made what could have been a very chaotic and anxiety-filled experience something that we'll always remember fondly, and it was the perfect preface and first chapter for life with our amazing daughter. When we are ready to adopt again we will be going right back to ABSA. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

If anyone is considering adoption, they are silly not to use A Baby Step Adoption (ABSA.) When I started down this road of adoption, I initially signed up with another agency and thought I was out in left field for a long time. I learned of ABSA and once I met with Barbara and Liz, I knew it was the place for me. They were thorough from start to end. Letting me know the finances, the matching process, etc. The networking emails you receive from the agency is what I think stands them apart from the others. You have the ability to request your profile be presented to the birth mother. In short order, I was matched with my first birthmother and unfortuantely experienced a failure (to NO fault of ABSA!) They were wonderful in helping me heal and once I was ready again, I was matched with another birth mother and happy to say I am the proud mom of a 17 month old son who has changed my life. Everyone does their research on adoption before taking the first step, but A Baby Step is the right place to be. read more

We had a wonderful adoption experience with A Baby Step Adoption. When we began the process with A Baby Step they gave us a helpful overview of what to expect, how the finances worked, how to put together a profile, etc. We were paired with a caseworker immediately who was always there to answer our questions throughout the process. We were really happy with their birthmother networking system--instead of the traditional waiting list model both the birthmother and prospective parents could see the profiles and choose a situation that best fit their needs. We were matched with a birthmother very quickly and although there were some bumps in the road during the process, A Baby Step was there for us the entire time. Our daughter was born in August and officially adopted in December. Barbara and her team made the legal adoption process seamless and we couldn't be happier. We will definitely use A Baby Step when we decide to adopt again. read more

We have successfully adopted two children through A Baby Step Adoption and couldn't be happier with our experience. The agency helped us through every step and made the process pretty easy compared to everything else we had been through! We were matched with our first birthmother pretty early on and had a perfectly healthy baby boy about two months later. We agreed to adopt another child from the same birthmother a year later, but that adoption failed and Barbara and her staff were then there to help us through the tough time. When we were ready to adopt again, we had just begun the search and were matched with another birthmother immediately. We now have two healthy happy children. It's hard to imagine that there were days we thought we might never be parents. We are so lucky and blessed to have found this agency and to have worked with Barbara and her staff. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done for our family. read more

We highly recommend A Baby Step Adoption. For many years we dreamed of becoming parents. We finally received our little bundle of joy and started our family with the expertise of ABSA! We matched in under 2 months. Although that match resulted in a failure ABSA helped us through that tough time, and within 5 months we were matched again! A little over a month later our precious bundle of joy was born! We are very grateful for ABSA without there help I would not be a mommy! With ABSA's expertise we could even proceed with our finalization despite the pandemic! We are very thankful to Barbara, Shara, Kerri, our wonderful birth mom, and everyone else that helped us at ABSA at one time or another. We would love to adopt again maybe sometime in the future. If we decide ABSA will be our first and only choice! Blair Rose read more

We knew we made the right decision from the first moment we chose to have ABSA help us make our dreams come true of building our family. The kindness, compassion and willingness to help demonstrated by the entire staff throughout our adoption journey is what we are most grateful for. Our caseworker, Annie, was always available to answer any questions or to help address any concerns that we had. Linda and Barbara were absolutely wonderful in making sure that our ICPC process and finalization went quickly and smoothly. We are so thankful and blessed to have had the opportunity to work with a group of such wonderful individuals--without them we wouldn't have our beautiful daughter! We will always consider the staff of ABSA a special part of our family! read more

This Thanksgiving we have a lot to be thankful for! One of many is the tireless effort A Baby Step Adoption employees put forth every single day. From the very first meeting we had with ABSA to the hugs at our finalization, each and every employee had a smile to share and an ear to listen. There were times that required a phone call in the evening or a weekend meeting with the birth family. ABSA was present every step along the way for support. We couldn't have chosen a better agency to work with and we give them five gold stars. We have and will continue to recommend this agency to anyone that is interested in adoption and we plan to work with them again next year. Thank you for completing our family with the most precious baby girl! read more

In 2017, we began searching for a new adoption agency after our previous one closed. Our experience with A Baby Step Adoption was truly exceptional--it not only helped heal past disappointments but also demonstrated the strength of a dedicated and supportive network. After 3 years with another agency - which declared bankruptcy and retained our monies, personal files, and crushed our hopes - we met Linda at A Baby Step Adoption. Her calm demeanor, honesty, integrity, and amazing smile set us at ease. We met Barbara shortly thereafter and signed onboard. We are eternally grateful for their assistance in helping us make our house a home. We welcomed our daughter in the Fall of 2017. Each evening when we say our prayers we offer a prayer for "Auntie Linda" and "Auntie Barbara." They are miracle makers and our lives have never been more fulfilling. read more

We adopted with them, and it was awful. How dare we ask "where is our money going?". They only wanted to get paid, and they black-mailed us. I would never recommend them to anyone. Barbara only cares about taking your money, not about the babies. read more
