This place has a huge selection! I was a bit intimidated at first because of the gate and the fact that its in a far corner of the parking lot, but we parked right up front and it was good we didnt skip it! They have a lot of great stuff - bags jewelry shoes for everyone - and the women working were very friendly and welcoming. Its a bigger space than you think because they also have keyboards, records, tools, even china! Definitely shouldnt miss out coming here & im sure we'll be back. Buyer beware I have been with this establishment for about 10 plus years beware of the jeweler the jeweler have known me for more than seven years. I took my garnet ring in to AV pawn shop to have it cleaned and have the ring repaired to my surprise when I come to pick up my ring, I was told that there's a stone missing I had the Ring many many years, never lost a stone unfortunately, when I tried to retrieve the ring, they never explained to me about the stone, they were trying to give me my ring back without the stone. I refused the ring. I told him that I would not accept it. I went back the next day he put in a fake stone in my ring, didn't ask me or anything never explained to me about my stone. I refuse the ring. Beware make sure your stones are in your rings. Make sure it's the same ring. I just don't trust a jeweler. read more

Hello to future customers, my experience not so welcoming, the ladies in the front offered help but I calked before I got there too make sure I can still arrive before closing. They told me yes but as soon as I got there refused help, the manager did not want to help at all. I ask for map directions bc I ran out of battery on the way here & he just looked at me crazy. I have talked with Alan on several occasions about electric guitars and basses. He is quite knowledgeable, and has always given me spot-on information. A few years ago I bought a 1986 Japanese Fender Jazz bass that was the perfect instrument for me at the time (as well a being a rather rare conversation piece) and at a very fair price. Recently I was looking for a Mexican Fender Strat, and he walked me through the store, pulling out each Strat, showing me what to look for, and pointing out the flaws of each and explaining how it affected the price. I kept quiet and listened as he told me things I already knew from my own research, and that confirmed to me he's an honest guy when it comes to guitars. He gave me a very fair price and included a hard shell case. I've played the guitar all summer, and couldn't be happier with his guidance. I see some bad reviews here, but it's clear they are by folks who don't understand the pawn business. It's not like "Pawn Stars." Do your research before you go in. You're not going to find a 'steal' here - they're professionals, in business, but you CAN get a fair price. I'd go here before gambling on Craigslist anytime. read more

These guys are crooks. They prey on the poor, with ridiculously high interest rates and insane markups. My partner pawned a purse before we were together, and she was one week late in paying them back at their pre approved interest rate of 60% APR. Of course since she paid late, they told us it was too late, and we could buy it off them for a profit margin of 340%. Fuck these guys. Nothing but crooks, and a cancer in the community. Great shop. Friendly employees. Willing to make good deals! Dean and his crew have a great thing going in North Long Beach. Stopped in after thrifting at the Amvets across the parking lot. Being a musician, I spotted the pawn shop and had to take a look. I walked in on a wonderfully curated display of vintage guitars and a beautiful Hammond organ with the original Leslie speaker. For those in the know, that's a rare find. I fooled around and fell in love with a little post-war Regal resonator guitar. It was set up real nice and even in tune. Again, rare for a pawn shop instrument. Anyways, I didn't buy it. What it did buy was a really nice Tiffany bracelet as a post-Valentines gift for my bae as it was the day after VD. So I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about, but I tend to really like this place. Could be due to my inexperience with markets and pricing when it comes to guitars and amps and the like, but I've always had a good experience with these guys. I came in not knowing a thing about electric guitars and they helped me to pick out one I liked, even asking what sort of genre I was interested in playing so I could make sure I picked the one right for me. I ended up settling on a Epiphone Gibson Jr, and they even gave me somewhat of a discount since it was my first guitar. I returned at a later date and purchased an amp, which again they let me test out before I bought and helped me with finding an amp right for me, and some time after that purchased a bass. Yeah yeah, there are some pricey amps and guitars and basses, but I'm usually able to find something a little bit more in my price range with some looking around (and they usually ask you what the range is you're trying to stay in). I did notice that some of the reviews were older, so maybe they were able to fix some of the issues they had in the past. But I'm certain I'll be dropping in again at some point in the future. Well I went to pick up a $650 dollar lens that I pawned because of hard times. I went back there today to pay off my ticket and pick up my item, and I found out they didn't have it. They say it was stolen during the riots and looting and that I am out of luck. They said since it was stolen there is nothing they could. When I asked if they didn't asume any responsibility for the stolen item they said they did, that they were sorry and there was nothing they could. That's the extent of any responsibility that they will take. I will definitely never pawn anything here again. I suggest everyone reconsider dropping off items at a place that probably isn't insured and will not cover your items if they are lost. read more

I understand that as a pawn shop they are in the business of making a profit, mainly off of people in a desperate situation. But my situation is different. My home was recently broken into and my entire jewelry box (among many other items) was stolen with many memories and expensive items. One of the most important piece was my fathers wedding ring. He passed away and this was the last physical piece of him I had. Many of my pieces were unique and very easy to describe, my fathers ring has a distinctive mark on it making it very easy to identify. The entire staff couldn't care less and blew every one of my questions off. It amazes me that a thief doesn't have to provide proof of any kind when selling stolen property but the rightful owner has to jump thru hoops. Now of course I have no way of knowing if they have any of my pieces but any concern or offer to help would have been greatly appreciated. The thief has robbed many other homes and has been seen in the general area which leads me to believe he's dumb enough to use the local pawn shop. I was told I would have to wait the 30 days they hold purchased items and I'm figuring buy it back. I guess I was hoping for a shred of human decency but two of them couldn't stop stuffing their faces long enough to breathe let alone show any kind of concern. A half hearted feeble "good luck" was muttered as I turned to walk out and felt more like a mockery. I'm heart broken over my loss and now feel utterly hopeless in retrieving my property. Weird way of doing things. Told me I had to give him the price I wanted first. Then of course he went low. But came up to an ok price. Helped pay medical bills. Never sold or pawned anything before. Lots of guitars, amps. I offered to sell a top of the line dj system in Anvil cases, top of the line mixer, denon dual player with mp3, with Mackie amp and two Yamaha concert series 15" speakers. I wasn't sure about going to a pawn shop but was referred by my friend. The store is absolutely huge and they had hundreds of guitars hanging on the walls. Everyone was uber friendly and Dean knew everything about the instruments. They also sell jewelry, tools, stereos, video games ..... and the list goes on. They even had a jeweler behind the counter doing repairs while the customers were waiting. I never knew a pawn shop could be so interesting.
