On Father's Day we took a culinary tour of New Jersey. I found A&C on Yelp and knew we had to try it. Absolute old school perfection. Cool selection of Italian dry goods and baked goods but the main event is the glistening case of pork products. We went with a pound of sweet sausage with fennel seeds and a pound of hot sausage. My wife turned that into a delicious sausage and peppers meal. Thanks to A&C we started with great ingredients. With cooking that's at least half the battle. Everything in the store looked great! If you like Italian food this place can not be missed. Aldo & Antonio are craftsman in the art of producing fine Italian specialties. They do their own butchering on the premises and produce fresh and dry sausages which include sopressata and store made pancetta. They are full service butchers that produce the total gamet of meats from beef, lamb and even rabbit. Their sandwiches are stacked with meat. The prices are reasonable considering the quality. One-half ($10), a whole sandwich ($18-$20). A half of a sandwich is equal to a whole sandwich many other places. Aside from their meat selection, they make their own braided mozzarella hourly. Twelve varieties of cheeses, stuffed breads, fresh pasta salades, many varieties of olives , olive oils, San Marzano tomatoes and sfogliatella are some of the other items available. Old school deli's are my favorite! This is one of them. It is located on the end of a strip mall so you have to know it is there. It looks and feels like a proper deli. The good news is the food also hits like a proper deli. The little joe which was chicken cutlet, mozzarella, sundries tomatoes with a touch of balsamic was delicious. The bread is the star of the show as well. Lovely sandwich. The eggplant parmigna also was good. A lot of thin layers of eggplant without it being mushy. Wish there was more sauce. You can't go to many spots now and get a huge (delicious) sandwich with freshly sliced cold cuts and cooked foods for 7-8$ but here you can. If you're looking for a place to eat at? Probably not, they do have 2 small tables in the store but if you get there around lunch, chances are they already taken so consider this a take place/place to buy meats and Italian delicacies. I know of 3 pork stores in northern NJ. One is in West Paterson, one is in Nutley and this one is in Paterson. I have tried them all and this store is superior by far. The food, prices and service are exceptional. I really enjoy coming here not only for the quality sandwiches (you must try the Michelangelo) but also for the friendly conversation. Folks this is the most expensive place to order food. Order sandwiches about 12 orders size 6 in long, 2 thin pieces of chicken, two slices of cheese, the bread was harder than a rock and the total was $170. 00 horrible experience would never do that again. People say don't put a price on your stomach but when they give you more bread than meat very very bad for business. read more

My nephew has sopressata and Mozzarella. All the sandwiches were huge, fresh and great. Prices are reasonable. Love this place. My husband and I formerly went to A&S in Wycoff, but refused to go back after being charged $8.00 for burnt broccoli. I don't mind paying for quality food, but this was outrageous. After this debacle, we went to A&C in Patterson and are so happy we did. The employees are incredibly friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food is fantastic. We often come here before holidays for our meat AND we enjoy their sandwiches. Their sandwiches are delicious- plenty of meat, fresh mozzarella and excellent bread. I am writing this review as a follow up to my previous experience gained at A&C Pork Store. sophia lauren remains my sandwich of choice and I seems to remain that way. Yes, Ive tried others and they are all delicious, but giving my love for broccoli rabe and fresh mozzarella, sophia lauren stands out the most for me. Picky with how I like it prepared, and finding the right person to make it, I always return for it. Today I decided to try their eggplant parmesan and it was pretty tasty. Traditional taste and not as oily. Prices are really hard to debate mainly because of the quality of their food is really good. I hope to return to A&C soon and try more foods on their menu. If not, I know the alternative. I believe A&C gives a good presentation and it embraces that Italian style vibe. This is definitely a 4.5 out of 5 stars. The sandwiches are great. The cured meats are perfect. The fresh mozz tastes awesome and is a little spongy in texture. The bread is fresh, with a harder exterior and soft and chewy on the inside. The Godfather and the basic Italian Stallion sandwiches are my personal favorites here. The service is always friendly. I've had a couple of mistakes on my order in the past, but nothing they weren't prepared to help rectify on the spot. Humble customer service is hard to come by in locally-owned North Jersey shops, but the employees here are very friendly and really care. The sausage and other cuts of meat behind the glass always looks tempting to buy, and I will definitely try them in the near future. If anything notable is to be said, I will update my review when the time comes. The store itself has great authentic imported Italian fare, and I've bought 00 pizza flour and other rare ingredients that can't be found in regular supermarkets. I believe the name for this store is really A&C Italian Pork Store, not A&S. There is an A&S Pork Store in Woodland Park, with an identical menu, but for some reason their prices are inflated for the same sandwiches and quality, only with a more surly staff. Much to my surprise the new owners are as good if not better than before.The staff is outstanding and they are always looking to help with whatever you need .
