The staff's professionalism and easy process from start to finish was beyond exceptional. From the moment I walked in the door with my barstools, I was greeted by Mercedes and her beautiful smile. She listened to my concerns and immediately headed for the back to see if she had the fabric I was looking for. In no time she found exactly what I wanted. In less time than originally stated, I received a call that my stools were finished. When I arrived to pick them up, they were brought to the front with care, and the finished product was better than expected. Prices are very reasonable too. I highly recommend this company for your re-upholstery needs. Everyone was so helpful! Thank you again! I'll be back. read more

Love this family owned and run company. They do an amazing job.! Worked with both daughters of owner, Ana and Victoria. So professional and friendly. They.Want the customer to be happy. Thank You so much A&B read more

We were referred by a friend and the service was timely however the cost was unexpectedly high for Sunbrella. Also, the cushions were or ARE oddly off in size. Smaller and do not fit the furniture . It's patio furniture but it looks odd. Point is.., we could have replaced the furniture thru Costco for the amount we paid for the reupholstered cushions. read more

Excellent job, very professional and recovering work is really lasting well, far better than original fabric on our recliners. Stain resistance have saved the day multiple times. read more

A&B Upholstery Never disappoints. They are the BEST in every category from their courteous, friendly and helpful staff to the outstanding workmanship from their craftsmen to the pick up and delivery men who are always on time and helpful! We have had chairs and sofas reupholstered and extremely pleased every time. We highly recommend A&B Upholstery!!! read more

A&B Custom Upholstery essentially rebuilt my chair and ottoman to be better than it was brand new. The workmanship is wonderful. Ana was terrific about taking time to walk me through fabric considerations and options and sent me home with five swatch books to play with. My every interaction with Ana and A&B was professional and organized, but my rating is four and a half stars instead of five because every step took longer than I expected. In the end, the wait was more than worth it, but I had some uncomfortable moments wondering if I was still in the queue. read more

I brought in 6 chairs. 4 needed the seat padding replaced and 2 needed to be completely reupholstered. The folks at A&B were incredibly helpful in choosing just the right fabric and padding needed. . They didn't try to upsell on the most expensive fabric or services. In the end they completed the project quick (1 week), economical and with great skill. We love our chairs. They are better than new. read more

Your search is over... just call Ana and your upholstery needs will be solved. I was very impressed with the responsiveness and quality of work. We had some outdoor furniture with Sunbrella material that had disintegrated after being in the sun for 7 years. Sent some pics to Ana, went to the shop (easy to find) and we picked out the material. A few weeks and done! Ana was great, she kept me updated through the process. The chairs turned out great! read more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE ... STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR FURNITURE !!! Over $1,000 wasted !!! This is a family owned and managed business. After dropping off our high-end sofa along with fabric my husband and I went over the work that needed to be done with the owner. We were informed that the sofa would be ready within a couple of weeks. Two weeks later the sofa was delivered to our home. After an initial inspection we couldn't believe what we found. Seams were uneven, the tension on the tufted cushion buttons was loose on all cushions and due to an incorrect tying technique and thread the tufted buttons popped off with a slight pull. Looking under the cushions and the bottom of the sofa, multiple areas were left unfinished and the area in general was poorly finished. Furthermore, one cushion was done in the reverse side of the material and went unnoticed until we called it out. There appears to be no real quality control practices in place. We called A&B immediately. The sofa was picked up and returned for "repair". The owner's daughter was apologetic and said that the affected areas would be addressed. The sofa was redelivered to our home for a second time. Again to our surprise they simply covered over the original mistakes with new material INSTEAD OF removing the fabric and doing the job right. Again more apologies and excuses and another commitment to fix the issues. The third try was no better and after calling them repeatedly to reupholster the entire sofa our calls eventually went unanswered. We eventually took the sofa to a different upholsterer to have the work redone. That is when I got a professional's opinion of A&B's work. In short they gave A&B an "F"! The guy actually thought we had tried to reupholster the sofa on our own. I am all in favor of supporting small businesses but cannot recommend this shop. Why take a chance here when there are plenty of quality places in the area that do a better job and stand behind their work. read more

Unfortunately this is one of the few bad reviews that I have. I called this place at least 10 times to get a quote. Every time I called I was told to call back. Finally someone told me that I need to email the photos and dimensions to the shop email. I don't know why they just couldn't of told me that on the first call. I sent the photos with measurements on 4/21 and still have not received a call back or an email back. So I am unable to review if their work is good or not, as no one has ever followed up. read more

I have used A & B for many years. They easily replaced and rebuilt my antique dining chairs. I learned how creative they could be and started asking them to make cushions for chairs that had no cushions and a day bed that I designed. Even slip covers .............They make your life easy and do great work. I have recommended to many and never heard a complaint. I can't comment on prices , I've never had a reason to go elsewhere. I m pretty picky , there a great company to work with........ Highly Recommend read more

As a cleaning professional, I can always tell when a sofa, love seat or chair is made right and made well. There is a huge difference in companies making custom upholstery in Southern California. A & B Custom Upholstery is one of the few companies that are not just experts but they actually care about their work and their clients. I am a Certified Master Textile Cleaner and the owner of The Fiber Cleaning Specialist & The Fiber Protection Specialist. We are experts at cleaning fabrics so we have many high-end clients. Some of them have had custom upholstery pieces made by A & B. A few have very expensive sofas & chairs that were re-upholstered by A&B. Our clients love them, especially Ana & so do we. When the upholstered pieces are made right, our cleaning jobs always go well as it is much easier to clean a quality fabric on a quality frame! We appreciate them, their work and will continue to refer them to our clients! read more

I had the same experience as a couple others. Things started off great in terms of exploring fabric options, and I spent time at home making my selections from the fabric sample books I took home. I emailed pictures and dimensions of my furniture in a very timely manner, and didn't hear back. When I received a follow-up phone call a few days later, my emails had not even been opened. When I finally received an estimate, it did not reflect all the information in my emails, texts, and phone calls. I am taking my business elsewhere. So disappointing! I had heard such good things about A & B from my cousin. read more

Ana and her Dad, David, know their business. They run a great shop in Costa Mesa. When I needed to have some cushions recovered due to my dogs, they were helpful in selecting something nearly indestructible which looks really nice! Based on Yelp reviews I called A&B with the goal of re-upholstering a small chaise and hoping to start bringing even more business to them as I'm an antique dealer and often need items re-upholstered. I was told to email a hotmail.com email which I did. After a week of no reply, I called and my email was in their spam. I feel a business should not be using hotmail. Over the phone I gave my measurements and was told how much fabric to buy and that they would send me a quote for the work. Another week went by and finally a quote arrived of $675! crazy high price plus the person said if I sent measurements then they would tell me how much fabric I'd need so obviously there is not good communication all around. I'm also wondering how they came up with that amount when she did not have the measurements. I will be looking for a new shop. read more

A&B Custom Upholstery is great! We sent our 2 couches to be redone about 1 1/2yrs ago but before you jump to any fast thoughts, the length of time can be explained. First the fabric was sent and it was not of the quality normally used by A&B but was put on our couches to use until new fabric could be obtained and so we would have them for the holidays. After the holidays, A&B had to move their location so another delay. Once they got set up, off our couches went again with the new fabric on order. After looking at the new fabric, Ana did not like the way it was constructed so we had to chose another. After we picked another, the couches took about 3 weeks to complete and they look and feel great. All the time, we were assured A&B would pick up the tab and make sure the couches were to our liking, this they did. So, the delay was not their fault and they made it up completely. They are a family business, much like ours, so I understand the situations they encountered and appreciate how they dealt with us. I will do more business with them as the final product was well worth the wait never once did they say, "oh sorry, those couches were done a while ago and we can't redo them!" read more
