Then in the end the truth came out that she did not do the paperwork she agreed to do two and a half months earlier and demanded $1500 more or she wouldn't do anything that's after the nearly $10,000 I had already paid. I would give zero stars if that was an option.

I was fortunate in two ways: first, my ex and I both wanted to settle as peacefully as possible; and second, I had the opportunity to work with Jeanne, who made the process smoother than I could have hoped. Jeanne is warm, personable, and compassionate. She handled everything in a timely, detailed, and thorough manner, which made a very difficult situation much easier. I highly recommend her as a mediator! :)

Retaining Wine Country Law for services during a legal dispute with my ex-wife regarding spousal…read moresupport, I chose them because they seemed to empathize with my general distrust and disgust of the legal profession. They have a program that uses basically three levels of client involvement that I found refreshing and reassuring. It makes the client feel empowered. I like feeling empowered. I began the process hoping that my issue would be quickly resolved. There was not much to it. I was retiring and my ex would see that, I figured, and we would agree to an adjustment and go our separate ways. So I used their services mostly for paralegal work at first with a smattering of advice from The World's Best Attorney, Thomas Shields. Minus a tiny bit of hyperbole, I really mean that. Thomas was consistently excellent, informative, and helpful during this process, and it turned out to be quite a process. To make a long boring legal saga shorter, $10,000 in legal fees (to say nothing of the legal ransom I had to pay to my ex[tortionist]-wife) and six months of life-suckage later I'm finally free. One rather irksome detail that feel compelled to include here, and the reason for my knocking off one star, is that when Thomas was off on a well-deserved break, the attorney he left in charge of my case missed an important deadline and cost me and extra month plus more in legal fees, even though they scrambled to get it in the next day after I called the office--and I'd been calling--to remind them. Well, people make mistakes, sh*t happens, but that was some expensive sh*t and I wish it hadn't happened. Other than that rather annoying snafu, the office staff was always courteous, professional and efficient. The paralegals kept me on track, and the admin was always "on it," and got back to me as soon as possible, occasionally even surprising me with their responsiveness. Though this case was way bigger than it was supposed to be--should have been--I never felt adrift, neglected or confused. I felt in charge of things, so different than any other legal team I've ever experienced. I would highly recommend their services without hesitation, though I hope that for my own sake I never have to use them or anyone else ever again.

Laura is extremely knowledgeable about family law and knows how to get things done in the courts. She multi tasks, she works fast and she doesn't waste time. She keeps things moving so you will get results. Her billing is extremely fair, especially compared to other attorneys I've dealt with. Laura is professional, funny, easy to talk to, honest and so nice. Now my narcissistic rageaholic ex husband wouldn't agree with all that; he actually said he was scared of her! PERFECT. Some words of advice... listen to Laura when she tells you the best way to work with her. Like not calling or emailing all the time to ask questions; make a list and call once. When she asks you for something, get it to her right away. If you haven't heard from her it's bcuz nothing has happened, the courts can be slow. Help yourself (and your bank account) and work WITH Laura as much as you can to get your case resolved, you will learn a lot and you will be glad you did. Legal issues can be scary and daunting and I hope I never have to deal with the courts again. But if I do, I know that with Laura on my side any issue will be resolved as quickly and favorably as is legally possible. In my honest opinion Laura is truly the best!
