My mothers health crisis, and death was extremely unexpected and when I arrived at the funeral home, I was treated with the utmost respect by the staff. Justin, Malachi, etc we're all consummate professionals from the very beginning. Like many people that are confronted by the untimely decisions that come with an unexpected death..I was a bit emotional at the time everything transpired when I arrived at their business. They took the time to explain every decision to me, make sure I understood everything that I was signing, and helped me along with one of my friends pick out the stationary, the vault, casket, organize the services, etc. They and their staff were constantly available to answer any and ALL questions I had which took a huge amount of stress off of my shoulders. It was also extremely convenient how I was able to upload the selections of the songs that were played in rotation at the memorial, as well as the pictures on the website for the chapel services. After the graveside service by my moms chosen pastor they remained in contact to answer other questions that I had regarding followups about the death certificates as well. In addition, they worked to get the funeral done in a professional expedient manner despite the fact that it was a holiday weekend. They actually called Beal Memorial cemetery ahead of time - to make sure that the manager was on staff so I could set up everything there. I made it there with an hour to spare! If I could give both them and their staff 10 STARS I would.

I knew he wanted to be cremated and placed in the memorial wall at the Barrancas Cemetery in Pensacola NAS. So I did a Google search, I saw that this place was the closest funeral home to NAS that was open, and I figured that they've done the Barrancas thing before, so I called them. What followed next was service that was so wonderful that it took a huge load off of my mind. During our initial meeting, everyone was so kind and delivered customer service like Chick-fil-A employees. They have different service packages based on the amount of life insurance there is, which is actually pretty nice, because you don't even get bothered with seeing the various boxes or flower arrangements that you can't afford. I hate to talk about it so nonchalantly, but it was like building a burger at a gourmet burger restaurant. We just went down the list checking off stuff together. The box, the flowers, the prayer cards, the catering packages. It was really easy and nice. They will take your photos, digital or tangible, and add them all to the slide show at the service for you. So you don't have to worry about scanning them all yourself. Also, side note, if you have some real photos that you've been watching to make digital, just give them a flash drive during the photo process and they'll put them all on it for you. So nice. The actual service itself went seamlessly. We showed up and everything was set up perfectly. The priest we hired did a good job, and the funeral home was able to coordinate wonderfully with the full Naval honors that he was given due to his service. The catering was laid out for us and the staff there was going around asking everyone if they needed anything, taking trash from us, and just being super helpful in general. Overall, this place was perfect. I couldn't imagine them going anymore above and beyond for me and my family during our time of turmoil. If you're looking for somewhere to go and you're reading this review, call them. I vouch for them.

Unfortunately, the experience was extremely frustrating, particularly because I was coordinating everything from out of state. Communication was one of the biggest challenges throughout the process. Emails frequently went unanswered, and I often had to follow up multiple times or have my husband call in order to receive basic information. This created unnecessary stress while trying to plan a memorial for my parents. One of the most upsetting issues involved the handling of my parents' ashes. I had specifically requested to either be present or be on a video call when the ashes were divided. Despite that request, the ashes were split before I arrived in town. When I arrived, I also discovered that the cremated remains of both of my parents had been placed together in a single bag. I requested that they be separated. The staff member I had been working with was not present, and the owner initially told me to return the morning of the service if I wanted them separated. After pushing to have it addressed while I was there, he ultimately separated the ashes himself by using a spoon and dividing them by color into two separate bags. The interaction was uncomfortable and felt unnecessarily argumentative during an already difficult moment. Planning the service itself also required repeated follow ups to clarify details such as what would be included at the graveside. While the service was ultimately coordinated and the military honors were arranged, there were still some disappointing aspects. We were only provided one option for a minister. I had explained that my mother practiced Buddhism and asked whether the service could respectfully acknowledge that. The minister told me directly that he "wouldn't touch on the subject of Buddhism." During the service, the tone felt heavily focused on promoting Christianity rather than honoring the lives and beliefs of both of my parents. He also read from the obituary but did not read it in full, which was disappointing given how carefully it had been written. I was also surprised that when asking about urn options, I was told to simply purchase one from Amazon rather than being given guidance or a selection of options. Once the graveside service began, the coordination at the cemetery itself was handled professionally. However, the process leading up to it involved significant communication issues and unnecessary stress during an already emotional time. Families planning services, especially from out of state, rely heavily on clear communication and respect for their wishes. Unfortunately that was not our experience.
