I had an extremely scary experience with A1 Heating & Air Conditioning late last October. I had made arrangement to have a technician take a look at my water heater and tell me why the pilot light would not stay lit. I also requested a quote on what it would cost to repair and/or replace the unit.
Instead of sending me a qualified, licensed technician however, they sent a kid over who really didn't seem to know what he was doing at all. He ended up damaging the water heater and left gas leaking into my basement.
The worst part is, when we complained to the owner, a Mr. Al Ewbank, he tried to make excuses for this employee. He actually tried to tell us that leaving gas leaking into a basement in the middle of winter is normal. The gas smell was so bad I had to call Fortis, our gas supplier, who immediately detected two leaks and shut the gas off. I also reported the incident to the BC Safety Authority and later learned that this employee was in fact the owner's son. I'm still trying to find out if he was licensed to repair gas water heaters but I sincerly doubt it.
I'm posting this review to warn others. Please be careful when dealing with A-1. Call the BC Safety Authority to check credentials. They are more than happy to assist. read more
