98 LOCKSMITH To give 1 star is actually an act of kindness and grace. My family and I made our first trip to Santa Rosa Beach, FL expecting it to be the very best vacay a family could have. On the last night after a beautiful evening with our friends on the beach, I somehow lose my key to the rental car. I call the first locksmith on google (who seemed to have great reviews) and set an appointment to have them come out the next day. The technician on the phone assured me that he could reprogram my key and would take an hour to get it done. The next day after 4.5 hours, the technician informs me he has lost a pin in the ignition chamber and cant repair what he has damaged. He advises that I (not him, but me) call another locksmith company and he said and I quote: "call someone who is more experienced and who has been doing this for a longer time". He then leaves us without any resolution. My family literally sat outside the heat ALL DAY!! We immediately had to make calls to other locksmiths, the housing rental company, and a tow truck company. EVERY SINGLE PERSON we spoke with in the community and on the phone ALL said the same thing: "this 98 Locksmith company has destroyed hundreds of vehicles- we DO NOT recommend them; we are surprised they are still in business and are still hanging around in this area"- LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE PERSON SAID THE SAME THING! Even though the technician did not charge me anything, he cost me over 4000 dollars in: - A visit from another locksmith and to actually reprogram the key - a towing company - a mechanic to fix the vehicle (entire ignition chamber had to be replaced) - a new rental house to stay 2 more nights (we had no other place to stay or way to get home) - a last min flight for all 6 members of my family - 2 UBERs - more grocery food - transportation fee to get the vehicle back to Texas On top of this, when we tried to contact the owner, TONY, to ask him to make it right....he ignores us and doesn't return phone calls or texts. Ok!! I know this is a long read, however it's well worth it I promise! I begin talking about Seaside towing, but end with how amazing Max is with 98 Locksmith! Well, Seaside Towing is holding strong with their 1 STAR REVIEW. Thought I'd come help them out and keep the trend going in 2022! We are longtime locals who's daughter flew into town for a surprise visit. We made a decision to take her to the Harbor. Well, my husband accidentally locked the keys in the truck! I logged onto USAA to have them send a company out to unlock the vehicle for us. They dispatched this company....I realized that I put my information in for the contact information with USAA. My husband was the one who would be waiting with the vehicle when the company arrived so I thought I should probably call the company and let them know my husband would be waiting with the vehicle, not me. When I called I got a busy tone, and I feel like when you get a busy tone you typically call back until someone answers or you get a voicemail. I called back TWICE!! Seems reasonable! The man that answered the phone didn't seem to think so! Antonio Hughes is who answered the phone, at least that's what the caller ID said...He seemed to be completely inconvenienced by my phone call to simply let them know that someone else would be waiting with the vehicle which I thought was pretty kind of me. When he answered, he didn't say hello, he didn't identify who the company was...He immediately verbally attacked me with his snarky and nasty tone! I was completely floored by what was coming out of his mouth. I hope he doesn't have a wife or children that he talks so disrespectfully to. When he was done running his disrespectful mouth, I couldn't even process words to come out of my mouth fast enough to respond. He then said HELLO!! I responded with how rude he is and why I was calling. Apparently my 2 calls were too overwhelming for him to deal with. He then hung up on me. They arrived 15 minutes after my call, they were kind and respectful and worth every bit of $100! YES I would rather pay this company $100 than have a disgrace of a company come out free of charge due to insurance coverage. It took 98 Locksmith a total of 22 minutes from the time I called to initiate the service, to the time we completed payment and they drove away. Seaside Towing was pushing 2 hours....Needless to say I would NEVER EVER recommend this company to ANYONE! I would Give them NEGATIVE stars if I could! I will be contacting USAA first thing tomorrow morning, to ensure this company did not request payment. Yet, when I called, they quoted me at $79 to $100 for the unlock service without even knowing where I was located yet. No stars. Called them they sent some kid who used air pumps(by hand) to put in between the door and frame. Pumped it up, while I watched I told my grandson, I'm no locksmith but this isn't right. So the person said he was going to go to truck and get more tools. When his Tool wouldn't work, he called someone, then told me someone else was 2 min away. He proceeded to go to his 98 locksmith truck and leave. We waived knowing this was the last we would see if this co. It was 100 degrees outside I might add. After calling a reputable company called a-z locksmiths, they were here in 20 min, were in my condo within 10 min and even fixed my plate on frame. Which 98 and messed up as well as cracking the frame with their hand held blow up method. Save yourself a big disappointment. DO NOT call 98 locksmiths in Destin. This company was hired for me through AAA to make an ignition key. They did nothing but make false promises to me for 5 WEEKS. The service was garbage at best. Nice in person, but nonexistent when trying to communicate. They would make promises to have the service done by the end of the day and then just not show up, no call, no text, no communication AT ALL. Spent hours waiting around for these people. If I called, my call would get silenced/ignored. They might text back with the automated- "can't talk right now" response. Then no call after. Overall, job never got done. Waited 5 WEEKS. Called another locksmith company and the job was done in 24 hours. Hands down worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. And I have worked in customer service since I was 18 and I'm 30 now. Endless frustration. No communication. Never completed my job. When I texted them to tell them how unsatisfied I was, they responded "I never take from you any $". And that's it. They never said sorry, that was it. We were in need of an additional car key since we only had one. We contacted other locksmiths and Ford and all of them were quoting us prices over $500. We knew car keys would be expensive, especially to get it programmed so we contacted 98 Locksmith to get a quote. There were reasonably priced and extremely responsive. When we called they answered all our questions and were very kind. The locksmith met us out and about in town, was able to cut the key from his vehicle, and program it in less than 20 minutes! It was the easiest process ever, and the gentlemen was so kind, it was a great experience. Highly recommend! read more

Horrible experience. Wanna truly feel taken advantage of by a company when in need. Give these guys a call. Charged me $450 to cut and program a single key at midnight after all of my personal belongings was stolen and I had no other options. The dealership charges 125 cut and programmed. How is it ok for a company to do this to someone. I own a business myself and I am greatful that myself and my employees do not treat people in this manner especially when they are in need. But that's the price you have to pay for no damage done to the vehicle beats scratching up the door and damaging the seal using a coat hanger. So I Recently bought a house and wanted. Very weird that someone would recommend this locksmith to me because I feel as if they took advantage of the situation or myself. I had a key for my car, needed a code, called this business. They charged me $200 for a code, not the key, and told me to call if anything came up. Well it did. The car wouldn't start and the tech, before leaving, said it was my battery. Not my battery. So I called for a tow. Driver told me it's not my battery, that it was my fuel pump. The day before I'm about to tow it to the shop, the police call, found my purse and returned my original key. My car started up with no problems! I called 98 locksmith, 5xs in a week. Talk to 3 people. One of which was upset with me, ashley,because I didn't want to go through the story with her, I just kept it simple for a refund on my key. They were just super eager to get me off the phone with no response back. Customer service has really gone down hill these days and they are definitely on this hill. Lol.
