He gave some tips about how to go about contacting the insurance company and then met the adjuster at the house when they made it out a week later. Because of this and his subsequent follow-ups, he was able to get the insurance company to pay for a handful of repairs they would not have included otherwise. He also sent his guys back out after the job completion to address a couple items noted by an overzealous home inspector when our house went under contract. I may not have been his favorite customer since I was really pushing his timeline in order to get our house on the market but considering the scope of repairs needed, he got things done quickly. I hope to avoid any future hail storms and their related roofing jobs but if we do ever need these types of services in the future, I'll definitely call Derik again.

Homeowner observations: Breach of contract by contractor (see list of contract violations at bottom of review). Contractor took customer money up front, did not deliver major items, abandoned the job, and did not refund the customer's money. Contractor demolished bathrooms, did not complete the work, left bathrooms in a non-functioning state of utter disrepair. Homeowner repeatedly requested that the contractor complete the job - contractor refused to complete the job. Contractor's work quality was extremely poor. Contractor's workmanship was sub-standard. Contractor failed to perform work that complied with standards as specified in the written contract. Contractor displayed poor project management skills (contractor relied on homeowner to report issues rather than understand issues by inspecting the job site and talking with subcontractors himself). Project manager visited on the project on day 1 - demolition day. Project manager never visited the job site again. Contractor displayed poor communication with homeowner and with subcontractors. Contractor displayed generally unprofessional conduct. Contractor's words often did not match his actions. Contractor did not comply with contract terms - multiple breaches of contract. Project completion delayed far beyond any reasonable timeframe. Contractor abandoned the job (the project). Contractor made the project a low priority (did not put all hands on deck as project dragged on far past the contract completion due date). Contractor sent fraudulent invoices and backdated fraudulent invoices. Contractor did not comply with written contract terms - multiple contract violations (see below). Written contract specified project completion in 3 weeks from starting demolition. Contractor abandoned project at week 10. Contractor provided no schedule for completion. Homeowner had to live in a construction zone for the duration of the project without access to toilets and shower. Project completion delays caused hardships on customer. Customer did not cause project delays. Homeowner did not change the project specifications - homeowner stuck with the contract specifications (made no changes to materials selections and made no changes to contract deliverables). Homeowner made home available for project work by contractor and subcontractors. Homeowner submitted required payments in timely manner (per milestones as specified in the contract). Project metrics: Project completion deadline (Days to complete project per contract: 21 (3 weeks). Percent of work completed by the date of contract completion deadline (3 week deadline): 11% 34 days (more than one month) without functioning master bath toilet. 12 days without functioning guest bathroom toilet. 105 consecutive days (15 weeks) without a functioning master bath shower. Breach of contract - multiple contract violations: Contractor abandoned project at 10 weeks. Contractor did not deliver or install glass shower enclosure, did not deliver/install plumbing fixtures (2 sink faucets/drains, shower head, shower control valve, tub faucet/drain). Contractor did not complete tile/grout work. Contractor left bathrooms completely non-functional. Homeowner had to complete the project using other companies. Extreme poor workmanship with numerous severe defects that contractor never repaired. Contract specified "all plumbing to be performed by a licensed master plumber". Contractor violated this specification five (5) times by using a non-plumber (with no license) to perform plumbing work, resulting in two water leaks onto flooring. Contractor installed shower drain higher than shower floor tile resulting in a large puddle that never drains. Contract specified that contractor "remove trash daily". Contractor violated trash pickup multiple times, the longest of which was trash on site for more than one week. Don't use this contractor.

We even know the owners personally and they still screwed us over, so imagine what they would do to you if you don't know them.... This was our first experience with a home insurance claim for water damage and John, whom we attend church with, coached us not to contact our insurance until their job was done, pay them as soon as they removed the last piece of equipment, and submit the receipt to insurance and insurance would pay us back. He said we would maybe have to push a little and send a few emails, but 100% of their customers have had insurance pay in full. He lulled us into a false sense of security, and add on top of this our trust in him because of knowing him personally, we believed him. BIG MISTAKE. We paid him upfront over $12,000 cash and insurance said the job was only valued at a little over $8000 so that's all they reimbursed us for, putting us out $4500! My insurance tried contacting them multiple times to have them explain the excessive charges, they ignored their calls. After speaking to John myself, Jeff finally answered my adjusters call who explained some charges, and John contacted me after saying my insurance agreed to pay the rest of the bill. ANOTHER LIE! I later found out from my insurance that my adjuster never said that and he would still not be paying on the full amount because it was outrageous compared to what it should be. John admitted to me on the phone how they hide extra charges into the cost of a fan or else insurance wouldn't pay them, which is what makes it look expensive to insurance, yet they won't be honest with the insurance companies about what costs they are hiding hoping insurance will just pay it. But then when insurance doesn't pay it because to them it looks like they are charging 4x industry standards for the cost of a fan it just bites the homeowner instead! In the end, I requested a refund from Rainy Day the difference and John brushed me off telling me to hire a public adjuster to continue to fight my insurance. He offered to pay up to $500 for their fee, but we would still likely pay much more than that because of the size of our claim as a whole and we don't want to risk losing even more money when insurance will most likely still say no. This whole thing could have been avoided if we chose a company that went through insurance, learn from our mistake! I have many many more grievances with the way this company took advantage of us and hurt us not just financially, but emotionally and mentally as well, but my point is DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Also, these good reviews are padded with people they know or who have worked for them. The review with the dishwasher leak and pictures is the owners own kitchen, and he didn't even pay a dime for it because he told me his business ate the cost of his repairs.
