Michael, the owner, has since started the hot food again to offer. The staff, Mo x3 lol, John, (redbeard man) has made sure that customer service is everything and all food is freshly made and honest. It's Southeast Portland and it's hard to deal with the clientele that shows up and they deal with it with Grace. I don't think I've ever left a review for a gas station but since this is my neighborhood go to, I will give them kudos for taking into account and listening to their regular clientele. That's what makes things work being involved with your neighborhood. Back to the note of the hot food, the hot dogs are great quality, not cheap stuff, I'm happy so far. I do shopping for people and get so relieved when my assignment is at New Seasons since I know that…read moreeveryone there will be friendly and helpful. Sure enough, I ended up with a very large and complicated order I needed to ask five different people for help and every last one was just delightful. The customers were even amazing. Checking out was very easy and they have bags that are not going to fall apart since it is nice to not bag something to deliver and have the bag falling apart. Now if only the customers ordering groceries were as nice as the store! Hay, so you order and we get assigned multiple orders.... it happens. The reason I needed FIVE different people to help was that one of my two customers was adding items and changing other items which means I get to go back to the other end of the store to change out stuff. Then starts sending messages asking how long I am going to be because they are late leaving to go to the river. These are also always the people who don't tip their shopper they just legit tortured and caused their other order to also be late. Pro tip - don't be a jerk and plan ahead - who orders delivery of groceries when they are scheduled to leave??? But definitely shop at this store. They were the reason I managed to stay zen while being verbally harassed through texts.

Things aren't necessarily in the same places I'm used to finding them (like my Tom Bumble is in the candy/chocolate aisle, not at every checkout,) and some items just don't have a large selection like I'm used to. BUT there was a much better selection of Sock it to Me!! And I love me some Sock it to Me socks!!! The store is friendly, convenient to my lash salon and I got my chocolate so I was happy!! It's just SO small that it's hard to navigate.

Please note that most of the cake toppers (not all), mostly the figurines, were ones I bought separately and added onto the cake as QFC doesn't sell them at their store. If you give them an idea and vision about your birthday cake, they will make magic happen!! I've had this bakery make birthday cakes for my son's 2nd, 5th, and 6th birthday parties. His 7th birthday is coming up so I'm already planning to have them help me with creating an amazing 3D cake again this year! Danette was the cake designer for my son's 5th bday cake (Cuphead theme) which was a full sheet! It was a big project and she was amazing to work with. For my son's 6th bday cake (Fortnite theme) last year, we only did a half sheet and I think Danette also helped, but for the life of me, I can't remember who the other (main) person was, but I do remember the manager also assisted. My son's 2nd birthday cake was a Nightmare Before Christmas themed cake. He loved and still loves Halloween! The entire QFC Bakery staff at this location were amazing and so very helpful each and every time. Everyone always asks me where and who decorated my birthday cakes as they're show stoppers at my parties. We did my son's 5th bday party at Defy and I had random ppl stopping by just to admire the cake! LOL.. My guests also commented about how moist and delicious the cakes were which is really what I care most about with cakes as I loveee a good moist cake. Although I live in Camas, WA and there's a QFC location close to me, this is my go-to place for birthday cakes and my pictures will attest why.

I've shopped at this location for years, and the bakery has always been my go-to for cakes…read more I called the bakery in advance and explained that I needed "Happy Birthday (name)" written on a cake for Saturday, but that I needed to pick it up ahead of time. I had already checked online ordering, which could only guarantee the cake at some unspecified time on Saturday, so I specifically called to make sure I could have the inscription done earlier. The woman I spoke with (in the bakery department) told me it was fine to come in today (Thursday, Sept. 10) and that she would add the inscription. Great! I drove over. When I arrived at 3 p.m., however, the bakery counter was empty. An employee from the neighboring sushi counter went to find someone for me. After I waited a full 10 minutes, she returned and told me that the person who does the cake writing had "left at 2." No one mentioned a 2 p.m. cutoff when I called. I was specifically told to come in, so I made the trip in good faith, waited at an unattended counter, and ultimately left without the service I had called ahead to arrange! Now I'm stuck writing "Happy Birthday" on the cake myself with a tube of grocery-store icing, when the entire reason I called ahead was to have it done professionally. I have a suggestion! If someone asks, how about the bakery staff give customers accurate information about when cake inscriptions are available! Simply telling me, "Be sure to come before 2 p.m." would have prevented the entire problem, and a very frustrating experience for a longtime customer.

That covers a lot of bases. You will receive very friendly greetings and service here. In this day and age, that means a lot to me. I usually stop to get a cold drink when I work in the neighborhood, and there's a super-convenient bus stop just out on the sidewalk. They carry most everything you would find in a convenience store at the usual higher prices. Parking is a bit difficult. The parking lot is shared between vendors and customers, so if you're a pedestrian like me, pay attention. Entering from Barbur Blvd. is damn near impossible, so skip that because it's at a very busy intersection. It's best to enter off Hamilton at the side and you will make your life easier. The Lair Hill neighborhood really loves this family-run market so much so that when the property owner wasn't going to renew their lease in favor of allowing 7-11 to build there, the neighborhood association pitched a fit in 2001, and Swan Mart got to stay. That's a vote of confidence in my book.
