This place has ruined two Easter dinners for my family. On two occasions we purchased half hams which were inedible. They were boar tainted meat. It was disgusting. 84 Packing is obviously selling the meat of uncastrated hogs. read more

We are very lucky to live nearby, and try our best to always shop local especially when it comes to meat. I'm not a huge meat eater myself, but my husband stops here pretty much weekly. We were looking for a few hard to find items that are not available at the local shops and a friend suggested 84. Stopped by and greeted by a friendly and helpful staff and amazing selection. Many types of bacon, ham, dry aged beef, sausage all at reasonable prices. We were not disappointed in the flavor or our meats and our meals. read more

If I could leave a lower score I would. Made no less than 3 phone calls and I stopped in the store minimum 3 weeks before our graduation party. I order a roasted hog for the party, gave a deposit for it. Hour before the party arrived to pick up the hog and they had none- they had no record of it. I showed them the on line banking for the deposit. They gave me the deposit back, but did nothing else to try and solve the problem they created. NOTHING but look of bewilderment. read more

We came across this butcher shop on the way to a restaurant that we were headed to try. We didn't give it much thought until we tried and didn't like the food at the restaurant we tried. We were supposed to order our Easter ham from them but changed our mind. We stopped at the butcher and it was a great find. We bought a ham and a huge bag of chicken breasts. We would have bought more but our freezer at home is full. The butcher shop has everything you can imagine and more. They have the standard beef, chicken, and pork, but also have lamb, goat, and different organ meats. They even have goat milk. There are different packages that you can buy that include beef, chicken, and pork. It is a great way to save money on quality meat. The butcher shop is clean, the employees are very nice, and the meat is fresh. Check them out and fill your fridge and freezer. read more

They may be fine for retail meat purchases but I would stay away from their custom processing unless you would like be shorted close to 60-70 lbs. We had a cow processed by 84 that had a hanging weight of over 800 lbs but we only received a little over 400 lbs of meat and mostly ground beef. To give context most online sites say the yield from hanging should be closer to 60-65% NOT 50%. Last year we used another local processor and 933 lbs hanging converted to almost 600 lbs The issues started when we first showed up and the paperwork stated a half cow. When we insisted we had a full cow the machinations and obfuscation started. He just doubled the weight on the sheet and the price to process but none of the numbers of steaks changed. When we picked it up we had the same number of steaks as on the sheet but instead of 90 lbs of ground beef we had over 170 lbs. We only had boxes 4-12 with the correct tag # on it and then there were 3 mystery boxes of ground meat with no tag number and a different name. (and while all the other steaks and ground meat were frozen solid these mystery boxes were barely chilled) When questioned they became very defensive and insisted that 50% is a standard yield. I think they took or mistakenly gave away about 60-80 lbs of our steaks and subbed us some crappy ground beef. STAY AWAY read more

The selection here is amazing like 6 different types of bacon, 5 types of burgers. If you haven't been it's worth it. We went to get some Del Monica steaks for a cookout and they worked out pricing to get a better deal buying the bulk cut and having them cut to size. Be prepared to wait a little on busy weekends and for the occasional whole pig to be carted out to someones truck. Yep, that's right kids. You bring them your livestock and they will butcher it for ya. They have some of the best loose sausage ever and I get it every time. Being new to town we were trying to find better options for quality meat in our area. We did! Not only is the meat selection abundant, the service is friendly and fast. Wade gave us a full tour and explained everything about the butcher packages. We were sold and this motivated us to purchase a large freezer for the amount of food we planned to buy. Since we have lived on Rt. 136 for 8 years we have never heard of this 84 Butcher Shop. We used to shop for meat at Mike's Packing in Wash. Pa. Mike retired, closed his shop, & we have been forced to drive 50 miles to Washington, Pa. for groceries. Since we moved to Brush Run Road on Rt. 136 we have been trying to find a packing facility closer to home at which to shop. The photos & reviews for 84 Packing described exactly what we are looking for. I'm in the 'market' for meat for a family Thanksgiving dinner, (it's my turn to cook). I am planning to serve an alternative to turkey, "Rachael Ray's Pork CHOPS W/ FIGS & CRANB0ERRIES" as the star of the meal. We have eaten this at home once before & it was delicious! We will show up at 84 Packing early Monday morning for sure. If it turns out to be as good as it sounds we will be new customers. Thanks a million for the information. We needed a prime rib roast for Christmas and decided to use 84 Packing. The roast was the best I have ever had, and I am in my 60's now. Chose the aged beef, a little pricey but it was worth it. While there, I purchased some bacon and breakfast sausage.. The bacon is very meaty, little fat, and very tender with excellent taste. The sausage, Is nice and lean BUT had a strong taste of a spice I can't name. It would have been perfect if they cut down on this spice and let the other flavors shine through. My wife and neighbor said the same thing about the overpowering spice. I am going to mention this to the owner on my next trip to the store. Still I am very impressed with my other purchases and will try additional products in the future. read more
