Went to 84 lumber to check prices on a 4x4 post to use for our garden. There were other people in front of us so it took some time to talk with someone. After inquiring about what it would cost for a cedar 4x4x8, we were told it would be $98 for one post. We said Thank you and left. Although surprised a local lumber yard would charge three times more than the big box stores like Lowe's or Home Depot. I have found local lumber stores to be much better in the past, and hope they look at supporting the local homeowner's better, especially if their quality surpasses the big box stores. read more

As i entered the location on Decatur there were three guys to my left, never greeted or approached i walk towards the two guys at the desk and said i've never been here and asked where was the wood.. all that was said is outside the doors.. mind you, I did say i had never been here to them, so i don't know what the process was.. so i walked through the doors and saw no one other than guys on forklift... I finally stopped one and asked where can i get help, and he stated inside, they will give you the price and answer questions... I'm not sure if these guys didn't want business or were too busy in their conversations. I called because we recently bought a new home and we wanted a cylinder lock for the sliding glass door and Kayla was incredible from the start. She said they didn't have the lock in stock but would call the company to speed things along and within a few days I had what I wanted. 84 Lumber has a great employee in Kayla. If you're a contractor, find another company to order, this companies employees are far from having knowledge on what they sell, nor are they willing to follow through on anything. Honestly this is bad business altogether they definitely will Cost you your time and money. Maggie shame on you and your employees work ethic. We are operating busy handyman business and we don't have time to go there and request estimates or pick up materials. I sent requests for estimates few times but never get reply back. I called and they told me to come down. They never charge delivery fee before but now they charge $300 for one time delivery. I know everybody is doing renovation since lock down. Now, they are acting like a king and charge more. It's not right. Our company quit using this company and transferred all needs to a honest company even slightly higher price but quality is better and honest. Never this place again. read more

My husband purchased $4000 in lumber to build a patio cover. When the order was ready, he sent workers to pick it up. Assuming everything he ordered was packaged correctly, the workers took the order to our house. The order was missing all the fascia board and they gave us the wrong plywood, which totaled $1500 of the order. My husband went there and the co-manager Donate, argued with him. He stated we were responsible for checking the order before taking it. I feel the responsibility is on the workers who packaged and banded this large order together. Needless to say, Donate refunded the missing fascia board. When my husband returned a few days later with wrong plywood he met another manager. He was rude and tried to charge us a "restocking fee." REALLY??? You give us the wrong lumber and want to charge us a restocking fee! My husband refused to pay a restocking fee. After arguing again, the manager tells my husband he's not going to charge the fee just to "get him out of here!" And to top it off, my husband had to help get all the plywood out of his truck or they would have made him wait. Oh and by the way, they are charging $20 more for a sheet of plywood then Home Depot. My husband works for a general contractor and he will never go there again. They should be ashamed at how they treated him for their mistake! read more

Went in to purchase wood panels. Nobody in store, no salesperson greeted or asked to help. A tradesperson arrived and suddenly 2 people appeared. Salesperson told me he would call me with the information I needed for my purchase. He never called. I called, they did not return my call. Zero customer service, zero interest in sales. I ended up at Chardon lumber to buy my building supplies to build my barn...Best decision I made all day!!! Would NOT reccomend 84 Lumber, will never shop there again. Shady and rude customer service, employees are not very helpful. They called told me my lumber was ready for pick up, I showed up the next day and they said none of my lumber has be received and nothing is ready for pick up, 2 hours later they were able to find my lumber after I convinced them to go look in their yard for it, complete waste of my time. 84 Lumber is unorganized and completely unhelpful with the way they made this mistake. read more

They messed up my order when they type in the system and delivered the wrong item, was short on some of the stuff and of course, this piece of garbage place have nothing in stock. Went to them and they said there's nothing they can do because that's what they have in the system. Do not trust their people who take​ your order. Home Depot has better lumber. And it's a third the price. The ONLY way that 84 lumber's 2X4s are better is that they're... officially... straighter. The problem is, though, that there are so many flaws that it nothing is sitting flat to each other, so it totally defeats the purpose of them being straight. read more

I'm working on two separate projects, one that will be built out of standard Douglas fir and another that requires ground contact (abq) and pressure treated wood. Jorge was super knowledgeable, helpful, and personable. He asked questions to get a better understanding of the projects and was able to save me money by recommending the correct products to use. Before leaving the store I changed my mind about the dimensions of some the Douglas fir I needed, Jorge was already helping another customer but Zach was able to make the changes I needed while also being very personable. This place is borderline fraudulent. I purchased 25 sheets of drywall and they were used. They were so beat up. I had no choice cause it was fri and my original supplier was closed. I needed to install on sat. They had 1 less sheet than what i paid for so they said they'll refund my card for the $10. Its been almost 2 weeks and still no refund. Im not gonna go there and argue for $10 but these people are legitimately shady. Dont go here, even if other places are closed. read more

Walked in on Saturday morning about an hour before they closed. My buddy and I waited 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. They do not have the hours of operation posted on yelp MON-FRI 6:00 am until 5:00 pm And SAT 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. Sundays closed other than that they are great prices on baseboard are half of what home depot sells for. Do not get ripped of paying full price on baseboard when yoy can get it cheap at this store. I DID get some help from the Home Depot staff....But, I decided to go to 84 Lumber and get the better experience from a local type store...Unfortunately, my experience at 84 Lumber was Worse! as the staff suggested that I may be a shoplifter... If you have other options, use them. If you don't, whatever you do don't work with Rick. He sent the wrong size trusses, then took over a month to send new ones and months to pick up the wrong lumber he sent with them. The wrong windows were delivered and he said they would work, but when the installers came to install them they did not have the materials that were needed. They lost a day of work and we lost weeks of time to have the windows installed. It was over a month after the windows were installed that the screens arrived. He started by saying he didn't know we needed them and then he said the wrong ones came in and then we were missing some. He ordered the wrong type of window for next to the door so we didn't pass inspection. He said the exterior door for the addition came in black, then after a white one was installed he said it didn't come in black. We ordered a fiberglass front door and a wooden one was delivered. I guess he actually thought we wouldn't notice the difference. We were simply adding 200 square feet and thanks in large part to Rick it took 11 months to get it done. I understand our contractor played a part in this, but our contractor was not the one who came into our home and copped an attitude and lied to our adult daughter. read more
