Had a dead thermostat and a VERY old furnace (20+ years). Got bids from several HVAC companies. Felipe and his associate came out and installed the smart thermostat I had already purchased. He offered to do a service on the old furnace or give me a quote for a completely new and upgraded one. I went with the new one. He installed a Bryant heater that was more appropriate for our sized house than the one we had been using ("Should save you about 25% in heating costs.") Additionally, he fabricated an access panel in the unit to enable us to change out the filters much more easily. All included in his very fair price. He was able to come back and install it a few days earlier than originally planned . Arrived on time and finished early. I definitely recommend Felipe and his service! 10/10 read more

Great service received from this company. Others wanted to replace a furnace for 10k plus. These guys fixed the issue in under 10 minutes. Will definitely use again and recommend their services to others in need. read more

First of all; my husband said he never trusts 5 star reviews on yelp. So this is why I'm only giving 4 stars. In case you're a suspicious one like him. Lol Felipe was not just passionate about his work, but was very social & had me laughing throughout the day. Unfortunately for him, it was one of the hottest days of the year here in Salinas but here he is having to replace & install a new furnace. His work was wonderful & clean. Everything on the new furnace was labeled & he tested it out; checking the vents for proper air flow before leaving. We couldn't be happier! I would recommend him hands down. (The dog loved him too which was an added bonus!) read more

My wife and I recently purchased a mid century home that was in need of renovations. High on our list of "needs" was updating our MONSTER vintage furnace that was still functioning, but was running on its last legs. Since we're not big fans of cold weather, this was an urgent matter. After searching for local professionals on Yelp, I sent out several quote requests. In a matter of minutes, Felipe responded. A big plus! During my appointment for an estimate, Felipe was friendly and thorough in his assessment. To ensure we were smart about our expenses, we took the time to research various types of furnaces and equipment that were available in comparison to what Felipe recommended. He was quick and courteous when responding to any emails and questions that we had regarding various models, efficiency ratings, and brands. Ultimately, we decided to choose 831 Heating & Sheetmetal over the competitors. The level of professionalism, attentiveness, and competitive pricing couldn't be beat. Felipe went the extra mile to ensure we were happy with our new furnace and Nest thermostat. He took on the difficult task of removing our ancient and extremely heavy dinosaur furnace as well as the tedious rewiring job to replace our antiquated thermostat. The location of our new Nest was key since we would have been left with a hole (where our old thermostat was originally placed) in our wood wall panel. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the service Felipe provided us. As happy homeowners and aspiring real estate investors, we know exactly who to call in the near future! read more

THANK YOU FELIPE for taking care of business swiftly, carefully and professionally!! You went over and beyond to make sure this small ole lady had heat...it's warmer outside than it was inside since our unit was blowing cold air not warm. Again...MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!!! read more

Fast response time, didn't up-sell, did thorough job explaining, courteous, professional and broke down cost of item, labor and my client was thoroughly pleased with the service provided. Contacted 381 Heating & Sheetmetal on Monday about installing a new furnace in our old home. It's now Saturday and Felipe has since visited my home for a quote, installed new ductwork, installed a new furnace in the attic... And we have heat! - Very responsive to questions throughout the quote process. - Reasonably priced relative to other alternatives. - Carefully explained the features of our furnace to us. - Installed vents at the right places throughout the house to ensure efficient heating. Highly recommend working w/ Felipe and his team. read more

I searched and searched for a furnace repair company to service my home in the South Monterey County area and could not get companies to come out or even call me back. Felipe called me back in a short period and was very courteous. We made an appointment that same week and he worked around my schedule! Once he inspected the furnace, he explained everything so I could understand. He sent me the details of the repair and I received an estimate by the end of that day! That was unheard of, but he did it!!! We had a signed contract and he began work on my furnace that Monday. He installed my new furnace and new Ecobee thermostat and they work like a charm. I could not be happier!!! My experience with my furnace not working was a very scary experience as the furnace created smoke and almost caused a fire. My bad experience was turned around thanks to Felipe and his efficient, professional, and excellent service. I have already recommended him to several of my co-workers and family. I would highly recommend him to anyone!!!! read more

Felipe and his team helped us entirely replace our 20 year old Bryant forced air heater. We upgraded our system to hard aluminum insulation and 2 zones to match our remodeled home. Felipe presented himself in an professional manner, was genuine in person and fair in his pricing. It was a dirty, dusty, hard job that not many contractors would be thrilled about doing! He showed up when he said, took care of our house for the week he was here. At the end he even helped us install a solar roof fan that we had been trying to get installed for 2 years. I wouldn't hesitate to hire 831 for the simple reason they are a pleasure to do business with. I will be contacting them again if the need comes about! Thank you Felipe! read more

My wife and I just purchased a home with a 40 year old furnace. Felipe came, demolished the old furnace and in floor ducting. He then installed new in ceiling ducting and a new furnace in the attic. He was quick to respond throughout the process from quote to completion. On top of it all, he replaced our dryer venting with a rigid duct that is right sized for our house. He did a great job and we'd recommend him to anyone considering small or large projects. read more

I can not tell you how grateful we are to Felipe for coming out early this morning to help us and efficiently repair an electrical problem caused by the furnace installation (another company). He included a short lesson on trouble shooting and showed my husband exactly what went wrong.... it was another company's installation of the furnace (both AC and furnace tied to the thermostat. In deciding to get AC a year ago, we shopped around and felt 831 offered the best unit at the best price. We've never had to call him for any problem before and this problem wasn't his equipment or work... He also took our filters in to do a professional cleaning... no extra holiday or emergency fees. If you are looking for heating, ac, sheet metal...831 should be in your list to get a quote. Note: When we started shopping around, my husband was in the hospital, I had one heating company send out a guy who was smooth and scary, showed me a photo of our furnace that wasn't our furnace.to push me into buying. This guy/company was real pushy and later threatened me. He also charged us $125 for what was to be a free estimate. There are some real bad guys out there... 831 is one of the REALLY GOOD ones!!! Nice, caring, efficient professional and Felipe is worth his weight in gold! read more

I made a appointment with Felipe, which was Confirmed. Felipe then calls me to cancel our appointment and he tells me he can't make the scheduled appointment BECAUSE he has a much bigger job come up, one which he can make a lot more money than my job, so he's canceling my job and taking the larger job. Felipe....unethical to say the least. I said really, you would do that....he says yes. DON'T HIRE THIS UNETHICAL COMPANY read more

I've had 831 Heating & Sheetmetal do several jobs for me personally and for my Business. I could not ask for better service. Felipe, the owner is professional, timely and so fun to work with. Felipe did my sheetmetal work on my commercial building. The job he did was superb. His bid was fair and the job was done in a timely manner. He kept me up to speed all through the job which I appreciated. He worked really well with the roofing contractor too. Our heater went down at our home so, of course, I called Felipe. I called 831 Heating and Air to have our AC moved from the back of our house to the side. We were installing a pool and needed it to be out of the way. Due to weather we were given very short notice by the pool people when they would be coming to start the pool. Literally they gave us 2 days to be read! I called several places and Felipe was the best quote and offered to come over the day before they started digging to move it out of the way. He did not have time to connect it again after he moved it, but we got it moved and that was the most important thing. He said he would come back a week later to install when he had time which was ok by us. The weather has been very wet this year and we didn't get it installed until 2 weeks later, but Felipe was very good at staying in touch with us and making sure we knew he had not forgotten us. We didn't want him working with electricity while it was raining. :) He was very thorough and seems to have done a very good job connecting it properly on the side of the house. It works fine and is in a much better place. We are very happy with the work and would look to him for any future work needed. read more

I called Felipe yesterday because our furnace didn't seem to be working very well, he came out the same day, fixed the issue, pointed out an air filter that we didn't know we had and cleaned it for us. Owner Felipe Vasquez replaced our wall heating unit in just over two days (it was a lot of work). His craftsmanship was excellent (we have an older house so it wasn't an easy installation). Felipe is the man, professional, fast , and really good at he does. He helped us fix a bunch of older AC work that was sub par, installed new units and then came up with a solution for keeping the entire Comercial warehouse cool, including fabricating rooftop bases to hold two 30,000 cfm fans. This guy is a snake. No invoice. No confirmation. Made a part that wasn't needed. Got upset and retaliated because the part was Made by another party. And it was more affordable than his. Made a false invoice and dropped off his product that was never installed. Told him to pick it up. And now wants to enforce a mechanics lien when the use of his services was not acknowledged or approved. Records his phone conversations without telling you. Doesn't like to admit when he's wring and will screw the next unwitting person he can take advantage of. Get anything and everything in writing before you make your product guy. Bad business man period. Can't post with out a rating but I'd give negative stars if I could. He's a cheat!!! read more

Professional, polite, punctual, easy going, fair. Felipe is a true craftsman in his trade. He is the real deal. His knowledge base is set upon a strong foundation. Being able to switch gears between complex commercial mechanical systems to simple code knowledge at a single family residence is an impressive skill set.
