Ok so I've parked here on/off for many years generally because I need to take the metro from Ballston and its not too far of a walk. One big issue I have is its set up an traffic patterns still make not a bit of sense to me. Granted parking is fairly ample here and I've thankfully never had too much of an issue with parking. For me I don't think I've ever lost my parking pass thing, so I was looking through my car, through my purse, through all of my pockets and nothing. I honestly don't know where the thing went. So when leaving thankfully this place still has attendants so I explain to the nice lady that I lost my ticket, she said are you sure? I woefully say yes hoping she'd have some mercy on me and not charge me the full fee. Unfortunately that didn't happen and had to cough up $10. On the plus side, it was still cheaper than risking a parking ticket. Now getting out of here especially if you're getting on to Glebe Rd. can be interesting to say the least as you're competiting with turning and not hitting pedestrians, and hoping that the impatient drivers who can't see don't honk at you. I give this place three stars mainly because it is a solid option for parking.

If you're one of those people, this Metro Station is perfect for you then. I used to use this metro line all the time from George Mason to DC (orange line) and back, and explore each and every stop and all the stuff around it, and this little area is pretty awesome for food, although expensive. Sometimes delicious, sometimes disappointing. The metro station is much better than driving here (and I say this as someone that loves to drive) because you can get right out of it and be right in the middle of everything, parking is awful around here, and traffic can be a nightmare - and for that reason I give it a very high rating.

He asked who I was visiting - which I thought was a bit odd - no one has ever done that to me before. I told him - he proceeded to hand me a piece of paper to put in my front window - and told me where to park - for free! Turns out the customer I was visiting has reserved free visitor parking spots! The parking attendant reminded me to get my parking ticket validated by the customer. Which I did - and exited the parking garage without paying a cent!

From time to time they will have parking attendants to help you navigate but they are so rude and mean that I need to take a Xanax before even attempting to park here. I should add that the spots are very narrow and some are awkwardly placed so getting in and out is always a challenge. They get two stars because...it's free.....for 90 minutes but I'd much rather risk finding public paid parking to avoid all of the unpleasantness in this subterranean hell.

This is the real thing. The Washington Post's 29-year old local crime reporter Bob Woodward met his source "Deep Throat" in this garage at 1401 Wilson Blvd in Arlington, Virginia six times in 1972-3 (once for four and a half hours). The after-midnight rendezvous purpose was to discuss the Nixon White House and the Watergate scandal coverup. Woodward would turn to Deep Throat when the trail had run dry. Bob Woodward first describes his source, nicknamed "Deep Throat", in the book All the President's Men, as a "source in the Executive Branch who had access to information at CRP (the Committee to Re-elect the President, Nixon's 1972 campaign organization), as well as at the White House." In the book, Deep Throat is described as an "incorrigible gossip" who was "in a unique position to observe the Executive Branch," a man "whose fight had been worn out in too many battles." Woodward had known the source before Watergate and had discussed politics and government with him. Felt was the anonymous source in a story Woodward had authored on Presidential candidate George Wallace attempted assassin Arthur Bremer. In 2005 Vanity Fair published an article written by an Attorney for former FBI Deputy Director Mark Felt. Felt said, "I am the guy they used to call Deep Throat." Felt outed himself. Ben Bradlee, legendary Washington Post Executive Editor, confirmed. Contrary to the impression left by the movie, Woodward and Felt were close. After an initial meeting in the waiting room at the White House when Woodward was a junior Naval officer, Felt had become a mentor for Woodward advising him on career steps, law school, etc. However, do not fall for the 40-year spin that Deep Throat was an altruistic bureaucrat trying to save his country. Felt used Woodward and other journalists to manipulate information designed to undermine Acting Director L. Patrick Gray (installed after J. Edgar Hoover died in early May of 1972) in a failed attempt to get himself installed as Director. Max Holland's 2014 "Leak: Why Mark Felt became Deep Throat," is a well-researched and carefully written in detailing Felt's motives and is a treat for Watergate-buffs. "Follow the Money" was one of the most iconoclastic bits of guidance Deep Throat gave to Woodward. Unfortunately this was all Hollywood, it is in the movie but Felt never said this! Deep Throat's garage is located at 1401 Wilson Blvd in Rosslyn underneath the Oakhill Office Building.  The location was ideal for such a covert conversations with easy ingress and egress through stairs that led to the street from the subterranean garage.  Woodward met Mark Felt in space D32.  The garage entrance is on N. Nash St.  Use entrance C & D, which is about 300 feet down the hill (away from Wilson) of the historical marker on Nash St.  Turn left at bottom of ramp inside garage and go straight, all the way to the end.  Space D32 will be on the left.  Note: It is a little scary down there. In June of 2023 Northern Virginia Magazine published a story, "Time Could Be Up for Rosslyn Deep Throat Garage." The building at 1401 Wilson Blvd and the garage have been targeted for demolition for years. Also the story indicated that the historical marker on North Nash Street near the garage entrance will remain after the demolition.

The second floor was especially quiet and separately they had a quiet room. They have a really extensive book selection, and there are also rooms you can rent if you need a private space. Everything was very clean and well-maintained, including the bathrooms. They have a parking lot with free parking for up to 3 hours and paid EV charging stations, and the library is right next to pickleball/tennis courts, which is a nice bonus. I didn't really interact with the staff much during my visit, but they seemed friendly from what I could tell. Overall, a really nice library and definitely a good spot for studying, working, or spending a few quiet hours.

Amenities - None of the outlets for the desks work, and the molding on them prevents most stuff being plugged in anyway. It's always incredibly loud, lots of screaming kids, and just obnoxious people talking full volume, laughing out loud, or big meeting groups humming around. They let homeless people sleep and malinger around all over the place and it STINKS. Cleanliness - Disgusting, the floors and surfaces are always very dirty and the bathrooms are third world. Shit smeared everywhere, USED TP all over the place, broken soap dispensers off the walls never replaced, never any paper towels, etc. I also witnessed a homeless guy doing drugs off the sink. Comfort - Need more comfy seating. Only a few soft seats and none with feet support or reclining. Most of the chairs are very hard and the desks/tables are set too low. Staff - Seems overall to be friendly but very aloof.

Unfortunately, it was not a "free" garage by normal standards. What I discovered was there was a complimentary 1 hour of free parking; after that you would be charged $18 now, $40 if paid after Dec 16. I was in shock when I returned to my car after 2 hours to find a ticket on my windshield. That was my first knowledge of their true policy. It was not posted anywhere while looking for a space; nor at the elevator. I even inquired from an officer who was in the garage, taking photos of the licenses of parked cars, if unmarked spaces allowed cars to be parked longer than an hour. She said "yes, you can park longer." That was not true. I recommend that signs be posted in conspicuous places to alert patrons BEFORE parking.
