These guys just opened the day before, but they were nicely stocked and ready for business. We…read morewere on a ride up the Loop when we felt a bit parched, so we decided to stop. First of all, the view from the store is amazing -- mountains and trees everywhere. If you need to use the phone, they have a pay phone outside, which is good because there is no cell service on the highway. Walking into the store, you can see a super cool lunch counter, which isn't in use, as they don't have a restaurant yet But, there is tremendous potential there. I love the seating area with the loveseat next to the firewood. It smells amazing, and is just so cozy! We went into the store part, which is so lovely -- beautiful wood throughout and so spacious. They had everything one could possibly need for camping, including firewood. They also had a decent selection of drinks and snacks. I know as they get further into running mode, they'll get more, and I cannot wait! But, more than anything else, I was impressed by the owners, as they were warm, friendly and super welcoming. I plan to stop there every time I'm on The Loop, and you should, too!

Great place to stop and learn a bit before going hiking good people very knowledgeable about arearead more

They even remembered my husband on our second visit and helped us order in a way that kept us from overdoing it, super thoughtful and appreciated. The food was fresh and delicious both days, and we loved spotting some local Michigan treats on the shelves (a sweet touch for two Michigan natives now living in Seattle!). Great food, great people, and just the kind of hometown charm you hope to find when visiting a new place. Highly recommend!

Remember what life was like before yelp? We just went places 'cause they looked cool, tried restaurants 'cause they looked nice or someone recommended it... but now, most of us go on Yelp. Why? To read novel length reviews from wannabe journalists? Or are you like me: I just want to look at the menu before hand, check out the prices, & know if I'll get food poisoning or not. Either way, you read this long rant, thanks, I hope I made you laugh

I loved that I saw at least six versions of my childhood dining room table, which felt so nostalgically comfortable that I wanted to crawl under one with my coloring books and my chocolate milk. But I digress -- you're supposed to be reading my review. I decided that I was in the mood for grilled cheese and tomato soup, so that's what I ordered. The tomato soup is really amazing -- so fresh tasting and delicious. But the sandwich was next level nom-ness. I opted to get it on sourdough because it's the best for dunking into the soup. Totes 'lish (I just thought I would type like one of the cool kids!! In conclusion, I want to talk about the service -- ordering was fairly simple, and the varied menu made it exciting to know there are so many choices. You order in line and the incredible wait staff brings the food quite quickly. With the vibe, the service and all the things, I am definitely coming back.

It definitely worked on me - usually specials are relegated to a small corner of the menu, but here they are front and center. I couldn't resist and so I got the Pot Roast Dip. It's a sandwich that has a good amount of pot roast, some bacon jam that's glued together with provolone and Swiss cheese all on a Giuseppe roll (From Macrina Bakery? It's a crust roll). The bacon jam and sandwich dressing makes the sandwich really sweet, but the Angus sauce is very salty, and so when the sandwich is dipped it all balances out interestingly enough. It was good to try, but I think I'll order something else next time. I also got a Mocha latte- very smooth and delicious. I would get this again! Their bathrooms are shared with the rest of the building - the code is at the cashiers. The wifi password is right next to it too. You grab a menu, wait in line to order, and then they bring your food to you. Bus your own table when you're done. Solid spot.
