Showed up on time, always left a clean jobsite, communicated any scope change, polite and easy going. This combination is very rare; it shows why Miller is so successful and has multiple jobs always lined up. I was worried about them rushing my job due weeks of rain delay, but I had nothing to worry about. Only improvement could be more communication, but they know the jobs and if you ask about what to expect, you'll get a solid response; owner is a man of fewer words. Hard working and focused on the customer, not making an extra buck. Good prices. Also, took care of numerous small items and was flexible with scope changes on the fly.

Consummate professionals to the highest degree, I don't think we could have asked for a better outcome to what started off auspiciously. We had originally hired another contractor to complete several jobs at our house including demolishing our old railroad tie retaining wall and rebuilding it with Versa-Lok, a concrete porch extension, general landscaping including grading, and building Versa-Lok raised beds around our house. Said contractor started the job, and left the house in shambles for 3 months, not responding to any of our phone calls and effectively taking our money and running, while demanding we give him more money to break contract. Given it was nearing October and we were concerned about water leakage into our basement with the partly-completed work that had been done, we stated looking for other contractors to complete the job. Tom came out 2 days after we called for an estimate, and he had the estimate back to us 3 days later. Price-wise, Tom was actually the lowest price to complete everything, and it was complete work - other contractors couldn't do everything we needed done. When we hired him, he gave us a start date and deadlines that he was spot on with and was communicative during the whole process. Several days into the job, while working on some of the grading, he noted foundational issues and worked with us to get them fixed by adding a french drain system and retarring our foundation. Tom and his crew were able to get all of the original work done (including removal of the detritus the first contractor left behind, and fix his mistakes) plus the foundational work in a little less than 3 weeks. Everything was awesome - I don't think there is enough I could say about how good of a job Tom and his crew did. The precision, quality, cost, speed, and responsiveness is unbeatable. If you need someone to do concrete work, landscaping, or plumbing, you need to call Tom. He'll give you an honest, fair assessment, and if you hire him, you will not be disappointed.

I first contacted Gardenalia in Feb. 2022 and quickly set up a meeting with Patrizia, who came to…read moremy house and listened to us discuss our landscaping needs. We needed an extensive clean-up and redesign of a low-maintenance pollinator garden. Within the next month, she had developed a custom design for our house and we were very impressed during her presentation. Patrizia puts together a wonderful packet of information with photos of all of the plants that she is choosing for you, which is great for a garden newb like me! We quickly put down a deposit and got on the waitlist for her team to install the plants. Initially we were told that we were scheduled for June, but were warned it was hard to guess - which I understand given the nature of the work. I checked in again on May 26th and was told another 5-6 weeks. They ended up beginning the work on July 18th. Not long after they had finished up, we had noticed that one specific type of tree they had planted throughout the perimeter of our yard was dying. We were told that we needed to water them more. At this point, we were already watering them extensively multiple times a day but stepped up our efforts. It also wasn't long before weeds were popping up in our garden and this was requiring daily maintenance while still not keeping on top of it, which is something we definitely didn't want. In September, I reached out again to request them to come by for fall maintenance. When doing our final walk-through after installation, this is the timeframe when Patrizia had told me to reach out... but in her response to my email, she said it was too early to schedule fall maintenance. I asked when would be a good time to schedule and did not hear back. My husband emailed in December expressing disappointment that now, most of the trees they had planted were dying (value $960) and we had never heard back about scheduling fall maintenance. We had another landscaping company come look and they were surprised that Gardenalia did not put down any newspaper or cardboard to suppress weeds. The other company also pointed out several plants that were not fully planted and had exposed rootballs. We did receive an apology from Gardenalia for not responding to our emails in the fall but overall, didn't feel like they appropriately addressed the other concerns we brought up. In their response, they said that paper mulch to suppress weeds would have been a "waste of money" - but just weeks after installation, I began spending hours daily weeding without being able to get on top of it. We did not reply and decided to go with another landscaper's services for maintenance in the spring. In April, we heard from Gardenalia again - they were offering to come by and weed/clean up our yard for free. This was a very nice gesture from them but by now, we had started working with the other landscaping company. A good portion of the plants/trees that Gardenalia had installed, as well as a butterfly bush that had been thriving on our property for years and had been transplanted, did not make it through to this year. Our new landscapers explained this was likely due to being planted or transplanted during such a hot time of year. I wish Gardenalia had explained this as a risk to us as all of the work was very expensive and we would have waited until the next year. This means a greater expense for us this year as we had to pay for extensive weed removal, lay down cardboard to suppress the weeds, and replace the plants and trees that have died. In summary, I do believe Patrizia has a passion and a wonderful eye for landscape design and she was mostly professional and kind in my interactions with her. The garden was very beautiful before the weeds became too much to deal with. I was less impressed with the maintenance team and the work that they did with the installation or in responding to our questions and concerns, especially for how much we spent on the project (over $12k!). I do appreciate that they tried to make it right in the end but did not feel confident that the quality of the work would be what we wanted. For what it's worth, we have not had any issue with weeds popping up since having the other landscaping company put cardboard down.

The single quote we did receive was for 10,000! That quote sent a clear message - that business did not want the job. So we let our beautiful pond and waterfall go. Then one day, I rec'd a post card advertisement in the mail for Three Rivers Landscaping. I checked out their website and was impressed by the before & after pictures. Most of the pictures were of larger projects so I was expecting them to tell us our project was too small, but fortunately for us, that was not the case. Within 48 hours Doug came to the house, listened to our ideas and 1 week later we had a quote (very reasonable) and timeline. When we asked about payment, Doug informed us that he wanted no money upfront, that we would pay him when the project was finished! That arrangement alone built trust and confidence that our waterfall was going to be done the right way. On July 14th, our project was complete! Finally, after a 3 year wait, we have our beautiful waterfall back. Doug & Ben Thank you for making our waterfall beautiful again. We are beyond thrilled with the end result, your commitment to getting the job done on time, and your hard work. We appreciate your enthusiasm & creativeness, treating our waterfall as if it was your own. In addition to the work on the waterfall, thank you for serving as exterminator and getting rid of the wasp nest (sorry for the scare). We look forward to having you do work for us again.
