This NEEDS to be said. From the front desk, to the administrative, the management, the medical…read morestaff, medical counselors to the oral surgeon, I received the single most needed e mergency appointment I could ever hope to be blessed with this day, and not just any day, but on a day they were fully booked. To say they flowed like water, moved like an oiled machine, sang in harmony......believe,..these are all undersatetments. Kitty Haawk Smiles Dentristy in University Height, has me as a client for life. Saying they saved me is the truth. I am highly suceptible to infection. I have just managed to live through one that hit November 2024 along my spine and in my arms. This infection being so bad, it nearly took my life. Over 3 months of intravenous antibiotics, months of in home rehab. and I still cannot walk straight up and down(hunchback) but alive. In fact, pulling through percentage wise was not above 20%. The wonderful Dr's, Nurses and many medical teams at Stone Oak pulled me through. These are the bad types of infections. When you hear the word Mersa, yeah, that's the bad kind. Yet I was blessed and they were skilled. I have to be so very careful in everything I do. However infections I come by very easily unfortunately. Well as fate would have it, I just got out of the hospital on Topperwein yesterday spending a 3 day ordeal with an abssys molar. As I said, the first people I spoke with and told my plight, were the ladies at the front desk. I know they could tell I was scared, and I was. The ordeals I had gone throught. I was told by Topperwein Hospital get tooth wextracted immediately upon discharge. And damn straight that was my intent. So filled upon on 2 different types of antibiotics, one type which I constantly stay on because I get infection so easy, I set out to get an oral surgeon that could accommodate and extract the same day that took my insurance. NOT AN EASY TASK. I like to think by blessings again after hours of searching, along came Kitty Hawk Smile Dentistry and Orthodontics. They werent just experienced, knowledgeable, but they treated me as if I had been their patient for many many years and from the 1st person to the last, they all knew my case and issues as if they HAD truly known me for years. I was told what my options were, which they thought were the best options and why, and free to make up my own mind as to which route to take. All put me at ease and I cried because I knew this was all going to be in the past in a mattter of a couple of hours. I was totally floored. What person says they had a great time at the dentist. This very blessed and thankful 59 year old lady does. My brother told me I had an extra head growing out of my chin. You know that joke,.....Does your face hurt,,,,,,Well it hurts me. That was me. I thank the whole Team for taking care of me. From the Front desk,, to being able to sit with Jaimie M. and go over my options, she made my choices quick and easy. Especially, Christina Derosa for initially consulting over my issues and for actually getting to enjoy for the first time ANY visit to the "mouth" doctor. However, Dr. S. Atkins I sit here tonight and feel what nice work was done, how comfortable I feel tonight. No huge gaping hole, no pain to speak of really, (but yesI am taking the meds you prescribed), its like you took my meessed up mouth, fixed it and then dressed it up nicely for ease and comfort, but for making me get my courage back and pushing me just a little further in reminding me it was ALL about ME and MY comfort, also I cant forget the ladies that assisted Dr. Atkins, my pain matters, as does honesty. I got the straight forward version with smiles. Just how I like it. And I know you all think this is complete BS and overkill, but I dont give a damn. I am straight up, I am blessed I chose that number to dial after dialing out of service numbers, dropped numbers, no oral surgeons serving on the team for 3 hours and calling my insurance 5 times. Noone touches my mouth but you all. Thanks so much. Kathleen S Davis

We had a mixed experience at Kitty Hawk Smiles Dentistry…read more Unfortunately, my visit started off poorly due to the front office manager, Nikki. She came across as very rude and unwelcoming. She frequently talked over me and cut me off before I could finish my questions or receive clear answers. That kind of interaction is frustrating and not what you expect from someone running the front office of a dental practice. There was also a communication issue during the appointment. The hygienist was not informed that I was receiving orthodontic treatment, so the cleaning was started without removing the braces first, which should have been addressed beforehand. That said, the back office staff was great. The hygienist was very informative and took time to educate me on proper care and how often certain treatments should be done. The doctor and orthodontic staff were also excellent--professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Overall, the clinical care itself was solid, but the front office experience and communication need improvement, as they set the tone for the entire visit.

They pick and choose who to be nice to patients and staff and Megan always sits on her phone even in front of patients cussing and not paying attention & Monique is a stuck up person if isn't her way then it's wrong n horrible. the only people who are good are doc Garza and Miguel other then that this place is horrible. They are quick to steal your money and then act like they can't do anything about it. It's a revolving door of staff constantly because the manager and DA is rude and a bully. Talk about stuck in high school. They only care about money at this office and that's it. If you want decent care here good luck 9/10 you won't get it you'll get 10001 excuses just to get your money. Summary: If you value your time, avoid this place. They are disorganized, unprofessional, and…read moreincapable of managing appointments properly. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else otherwise you'll waste your time like I did. ------- I've had multiple issues with this establishment over the past year, and I've been hesitant to post a review because I hoped things would improve. They haven't. While their dental services might be excellent, the constant issues with appointments force me to give them a scathing review. I hope they read this and realize they need to overhaul their management. A few months ago, I received a call saying they couldn't accommodate me because there wouldn't be any hygienists on site. That's fine, and I rescheduled. But when I arrived, they claimed they didn't have me in the system. I made a trip for nothing, which is incredibly inconvenient since I moved to another city in TX. I come back to San Antonio once a month to visit family, so my scheduling is very deliberate. With my most recent appointment for a regular check-up, I arrived to find a sign saying they were closed due to IT issues. No notifications were sent. You'd think a well-established dental practice would have contingency plans, but no. Once again, my time was wasted. My point is: Customers shouldn't have to worry about whether their appointment has been recorded after they make a call. Mistakes can happen, but that's why you train your employees properly or at least inform customers that they will receive a text/email confirmation and to call back if they don't. They've never said this to me. After that whole debacle, I've always had to verbally confirm over the phone to see if I'd receive any text/email notification to confirm my appointment, and if they said no, I would be extremely skeptical and have to call back. Scheduled customers should also be given a heads-up when unexpected events occur and they have to suddenly close for the day. If everything is reliant on tech, they should have some kind of contingency plan to be able to communicate issues with customers. This is not a nail salon or a restaurant where it's no big deal, people can come back the next day, next week, whatever. This is about people's HEALTH and their LIVES. When we have to reschedule sometimes the next available date isn't until over a 1 month because they're booked or we are unable to make the dates they have openings. This establishment needs to place greater importance on their clients' well-being BEYOND dental health and professionalism.

The staff is very attentive, courteous and professional. The clinic is clean and inviting. Their equipment is excellent and better than what I am used to seeing. I have lock jaw, very sensitive gums and a pretty small mouth which makes it very challenging for any dentist. Dr Sam and his tech (I forgot her name) were fantastic! They listened when I explained the challenges I face when getting dental work done. They were patient and allowed breaks when I could no longer keep my mouth open. Even though they worked on a few teeth I didn't feel as if they were rushing or trying to cut corners. I once had a dentist hit a nerve with the needle when numbing my gums. It was excruciating and lasted two weeks. The experience at Heritage Dental was soooo much better. I feel Dr Sam understood how nervous I was and took extra care when administering my injection. He and the tech also gently talked and soothe my nerves when I thought I would hyperventilate. Although I felt some pain it was manageable. I would recommend Heritage Dental to any and all looking for a dental clinic. They truly foster a family atmosphere.

This was my first time ever…read morehaving filling so I didn't know what to expect and the Dr.Okafor nor his hygienist explained the process to me. So they proceeded to drill into my mouth with out any numbing solution.... Again I didn't know I needed this because I didn't know what to expect. They began drilling in my mouth, and I began to cry and just accept the immense pain. Then they finally noticed and asked what was wrong I told him that I could feel everything and it was hurting tremendously. The hygienist then goes I forgot to numb her mouth. Then he yells at the hygienist and then he starts injecting my gum line over and over and get upset that I didn't tell him that I was in pain.... Literally didn't know what it would feel like again and I even told him it was my first time. In my whole 23 years of life I've never had cavities until now. Anyway moving forward the original reason why I was even there was to get my wisdom teeth removed, and I prepaid for my appointment in advance, and then the doctor proceeded to tell me that he could not pull out my wisdom teeth due to the x-ray that he saw and that I would need surgery and he would refer me out mind you he had already looked at these x-rays at the last appointment we had so he could've told me that at the last appointment we had...so that was a waste of my time! So then since I took off of work so I could come to this appointment. I said well why don't we just get my fillings done instead. Boy was that a mistake... I should've just went home. This is how I got my fillings done if you would like to say that because then afterwards my bite was all off and I had pain for months!!! It was extremely painful to eat or drink anything for what felt like forever, whether it was a hot or cold food or beverage item. Now I'm trying to get the money back that I prepaid them and I've called 4 times now and they said they would send me a check and it's now January of 2025 and I have not received anything. If you care about your health and wellbeing do not come here!!

After checking on my insurance and finding out how much I was covered for ($4000) he decided I needed a few crowns. CACHING for him! He filled one of the old fillings and then did a crown on the one behind it. When the new crown was applied, it cracked. Instead of taking it off and putting a temp back on, he glued the crack and ordered a new crown. When I went in for the new crown, the old crown was of course glued on and it took over 30 minutes of grinding, picking and scraping to get the cracked one off. IMMEDIATELY after the numbing wore off, the tooth next to the crown, that had just been filled, started to ache. I couldn't eat on that side and anything cold drove me through the roof. I went back in to see what the problem was and was told I didn't have the right kind of toothbrush and I was brushing wrong. Also, I had a nerve showing because of plaque. It's funny that I didn't have that problem before the old crown was PRIED OFF!!!! My feeling is that a nerve was exposed during the process of removing the cracked crown and he did not want to take responsibility for it! He applied desenseitizer to the tooth and said I should be fine. Then to make matters worse, at checkout I was told I owed $50.00+ because the insurance only covered part of the charge. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back and will be filing a complaint with my insurance. I now will need to find another dentist to fix this mess!
