DON'T BUY PALLAS "TOP SOIL". Unless they've changed, Pallas' "top soil" is not what you would…read moreexpect. It is mostly a byproduct of some sort of timber process (not actual dirt). I bought a truck load of it last Fall to level some areas and create a few shallow berms for water management. I told Pallas before buying that I would be planting grass seed in it once spread. Now, in my 2nd Fall of trying to sew grass in those areas, it will not grow. It is so fine that it won't hold moisture and kicks up like smoke if you walk on it. It won't compact. It's really more like powder or sand than dirt. Don't buy it if you're planning to try to grow anything in it. It won't (unless, maybe, you mix in dirt or other organics.
