Unfortunately, we came in right before closing, so we couldn't stay and hang out, but it would have been a great place to hang out and do some work or have a chat. There were some other people playing a card game at the other end of the table. There's also other tables and couches around. I also liked the separate kind of game room in the front, seemed like a great place to host a small book club or meet with friends. As I was scanning the menu to make my drink selection, I felt the eyes of both baristas staring at me the whole time. I kind of felt out of place or like an outsider for some reason. Maybe it's just me, but it made it uncomfortable. The coffee selections were pretty basic and I don't remember any food options but I wasn't looking either. It does seem like a comfortable place to chill with a drink or get work done, especially with all the couches, but it was a little too dark and somewhat odd to me.

I did not live in Cleveland as a vegan, and being able to come home and support a local vegan business gives me so much joy. I went with my sister and husband and we each ordered a sandwich and hash brown patty. I also got the Buckeye Latte because when in Ohio you have to have a buckeye! The employee at the register was so patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I asked her many questions, and she had an answer for everything. The latte was the right level of sweetness and so smooth!! It is challenging to get quality vegan lattes and this one I would order again in a heartbeat. I enjoyed the Chipotle Turkey sandwich, my husband ordered the ham and cheese bagel sandwich on a French toast bagel (employee recommended combo), and my sister got the Fiona Hammich. Birch cafe makes their turkey and ham in-house and I was so excited to try their vegan meats. Of the sandwiches I was happiest with the Chipotle Turkey sandwich. The spicy mayo on it was delicious and it had avocado too! I thought the turkey was hearty, a good texture, and flavorful. It didn't remind me of turkey but I honestly like when vegan meat is clearly plant based. My husband's bagel sandwich was a wonderful breakfast treat. The bagel choice was fun as it added a sweetness to the savory meal which is a favorite flavor combination of mine. My sister LOVED her sandwich. For me I enjoyed the flavors in my turkey sandwich more, and she was fine not sharing more than one bite with me. We purchased a large chocolate chip cookie and a turkey meal to take home. The chocolate chip cookie was one of the best I ever had. It was soft and chewy. I would definitely stock up on those cookies next time I am visiting. The turkey meal was such a fun post-Thanksgiving Day treat. My family loved the carrots the most! They were in a creamy horseradish sauce. It was so unique we all could not stop talking about the flavors. Thanks, Birch Cafe, for an amazing experience. I will certainly be back next time I am visiting family.

Birch Cafe - Bacun, Sausage, Eggz & Cheese Sandwich. Great toppings, but the bagel was hard, probably nuked too long. (Don't tell Gordon Ramsey)

They have a little marketplace of beer and wine and a big dessert case. Pretty decor with a Midwestern diner vibe. Had a great calm breakfast there with the family- will be back for sure! We drove 30 minutes for this place from Cleveland and it was well worth it.

I wasn't sure where I wanted to go to breakfast this morning because the City of Willoughby (in…read moretheir infinite wisdom) decided to block off the entirety of downtown for a festival. So no one could reach the downtown businesses. So on my way home I came across "Cafe Europa and Bistro" in the Pineridge shopping plaza. It's a small storefront in the middle of the plaza, run by a European family - husband, wife, and son. When I walked in I was a bit surprised that the place was entirely empty because the parking lot was nearly full. The son greeted me warmly and told me to choose any table. He brought me water (spring water) and a menu. We chatted a little. I read the short, very to the point, breakfast menu. And settled on the "Healthy Breakfast". The young man was exceedingly friendly and kept up a running conversation the entire time. His mother was in the kitchen preparing my breakfast. And the entire thing took on a surreal feeling as if I was in the kitchen of their home as a guest. A marvelously fresh breakfast appeared very shortly thereafter and I began my breakfast, as the running conversation (admittedly a bit one sided) continued. An oversized mug of excellent coffee appeared quickly that really was excellent. Time flew by and before I knew it I was reading to leave. The young man asked if I would like a ginger shot, on the house before I left. I thanked him but said no. I paid my $16 bill and after a few pleasantries, departed. All in all it was an unusual experience. Excellent food, good service, nice people... but maybe a little too personal... maybe? I don't know. It was just different. I guess I would just say you should give it a try and see what you think.
