Once I was even threatened, although the cashier had him removed from the property. This was the second to last time I've been here, once recently my boyfriend and I drove in for gas in the evening. I made sure both doors in the pickup cab were locked and my mini dachshund (who will defend me at all costs) was looking out the window for our protection.

That, paired with the fact that the gas is not astronomical makes this a good place to stop when you're running low after doing a road trip to Santa Barbara. The gas station only has about 4 pumps, and one of them is consistently out of service but at least the other three are fairly fast. I really have trouble waiting for really slow pumps and often don't fill up all the way since it takes like 10 minutes to do 10 gallons or something. There is a nice little Seaside Market attached to this Shell with all the expected amenities you would want in a convenience store.

It's one of those sham convenience stores without an interior bathroom, but instead of an exterior bathroom that's still part of the building or part of a building, they have a deluxe Porta-Potty. Why is it deluxe? Because it has a normal sink. I don't mean a Porta-Potty sink with a tank with bad water pressure; I'm talking an actual sink, as in when you inspect the Porta-Potty from the outside, you can see that they've gone to the trouble of hooking real plumbing up so that the sink has normal running water. Would it have cost them that much more to build a small bathroom? In case you too want to use the loo, it's on the left side of the building when you're facing the front doors and Vladimir Putin, toward the back. It made do in a pinch, but I probably wouldn't stop here again. It's close to the freeway, but it's complicated to get back on it, or at least I found it complicated.

I went in to pay inside, and the clerk was really rude while charging my card. when I went back out to pump gas, the system was frozen and it wouldn't allow any gas to come out. I went back in to inquire with the clerk what to do next and how to get it fixed. she ignored me first. Then she kept saying go away lady get in the car and go away without even giving me my money back or telling me anything. I waited for a minute to see if she would explain what was wrong with the system but she kept ignoring me. Then I inquired about the money that she charged on my account and she's now said nothing got charged just go away lady. This is the second time I go to that gas station and they are the rudest people I have ever encountered in any kind of service industry.

Didn't have time today to sit there and wrestle them apart, tho I'm a 200 lb rock climber and it shouldn't have been so hard. At payment was TOLD "I charged you for two cups" by the woman working there. I assumed she meant for two cups (like a 75 cent surcharge for the extra cup) but realized she meant two cups of coffee after. Um. The wrongness of this should be evident, but here's a couple versions that would be less egregious: Even "I'll have to charge you for two cups of coffee if you don't separate the cups." Or better, don't charge a person for two cups of cofffee who got one cup of coffee. This is charging for an empty CUP something like 3000% of the cost of the cup for the cup, and that is extortionate, even if the scale is small. This is absolutely unacceptable policy, if it is policy, and needs to be addressed, whether it is or not. Great location though! Also, "I charged you for two cups" is inaccurate is misleading if you charged me for two coffees. That is the necessary language.
