I was in the mood for Matcha, specifically Witch's Brew Matcha. I ordered it hot... thus the lemonade was steamed! How delightfully refreshing! Now my wallet... HAPPY. This was the most reasonable cup of Matcha I've ever had! My for stay ordered was served in a coffee cup. That's part of their decor too.. coffee cups as borders around the walls. If I'm ever back in the area... I'll definitely be stopping for another visit!

Pour is way out in the southwest stretches of the metro but anchors a fairly busy strip center. The space inside is homey and not enormous, but there are plenty of spots to enjoy. The house brew is strong and always fresh and their breakfast burrito game is seriously on point. The beverage menu is fairly standard, from latte through seasonal offerings, and each drink is handcrafted to your wishes. The food menu is not extensive, but what they do, they do really well. There are a couple of sandwiches on the menu and their aforementioned breakfast burritos are outstanding. Pour offers several varieties and packs alllll the freshness and flavor inside those tortillas. You could even pair one up with one of their baked goodies and you're in for a treat. Hint: try a handmade Pop-tart. Parking is super easy, pricing is pretty fair, and the service is local & friendly. Their outside seating is unexpectedly cool as the strip center isn't exactly made for a patio, but Pour placed several tables on the front sidewalk and around the side in the shade for a nice touch. It can get busy, because there's not a lot of competition and demand is high, so be sure to be cognizant of when the high school gets out. Sample & enjoy!

First of all, be sure not to blink because the sign isn't very visable and the location is unassuming from the outside, abeit a very clean exterior. Walking in, I love the vibe, trendy but not pretentious, grounded yet modern and a fair amount of people but not overflowing. Yessiree Bob, this is my kind of place. Oh and the baristas are patient, kind and willing to offer advice based on your individual tastes. I've been here several times; however, my eating habits preclude me from indulging in anything outside of berries. Do the apple fritters, donuts, muffins and other items look outstanding, of course they do. In fact, my buddy whom I generally meet there has raved how good the pastries are and after living in Austin and trying home made poptarts, I'm still kicking myself for not trying them. However, the path to maintaining a healthy weight and figure is paved in discipline. I must admit they nailed the ambiance. The cement floors are patterned with what looks like dark wood textured tiles and the walls are a warm burgundy, emitting a certain visual warmth. The hanging art amuses me, sometimes it's movie paintings, sometimes its modern art while other times it's eclectic and I've never figured out their rotation, but I appreciate it. The hanging lamps offer a bit of 2010 mod while the open coffee service area proudly displays all of the tools of an expert craftsman. The counter area has a small display case enticing the sweet tooth and the chalk boards give a simplistic view of their menu, but they also offer daily "experiments" that are fun to sample. The first time I came, I tried the Café Au Lait which was very strong, robust and full of lasting flavor. The 12oz amount seemed to be about perfect for my needs. The next time I dropped by I sampled the Dulce de Leche which was a mistake. Why, you might be wondering? Because I've never ordered anything else since then and I always get the 16oz. It's smooth, a little softer on the coffee flavor while balancing it with the strong caramel notes. I know it's probably got more calories than I want, but hey, that's why I'm not eating! They also have some pretty good selection of home ground coffees from places like Ethiopia, Costa Rica, Brazil and other far, far away locations. Come to think of it I don't recall if they have any Hawaiian beans which are pretty trendy now (Kona is a great coffee!!) Oh I forgot to mention they do have a fast wifi but please for the love of God, don't be that geek in the corner pretending to write the great American novel in the corner. That's so.... 2000s.... The coffee bar is open separate hours other than just on Sundays, but on Sundays, you could attend a church service and get your coffee. Win/win! I love the space, with its high ceilings, comfortable seating, and robust Wi-Fi, making it a wonderful place to work or just get together. And oh yeah, the coffee. Foundry makes a great regular roast and works hard to make outstanding artisanal coffee drinks. Even a hot cup of cocoa is done just right and pairs spectacularly with many of their pastry offerings. Another perk is Foundry's proximity to the pond and walking paths at Sar-Ko Park. I have been known to get my coffee and then walk across the parking lot to one of the benches in front of the pond, just a serene experience watching the ducks on pleasant mornings. I highly recommend a piece of their cinnamon coffee cake to accompany your coffee. Pro tip: get it warmed up. Prices are standard for similar fare elsewhere but the value is in the friendly service and welcoming space. There is a really solid kids' play area (with an age limit) giving families with littles a great option. Enjoy the park scene or just unwind in their space or on their patio and enjoy Foundry!

This local spot is located in the little historic Lenexa downtown, which is itself somewhat hidden away now that the Lenexa Public Market is open and draws folks that way. Coming to this stretch of suburbia feels charming and quaint, and I love that there is a really fantastic local coffee shop nestled into this shopping center. Now onto what makes this place so special. There are tons of great cafes in Kansas City, but what sets Maps apart from the pack is that they roast their own beans in house and they are all super fresh. You can taste the difference in the brew and it's a nice change of pace to have something a bit different since many of the local spots in town use the same local roasters. Once you find out about Maps you'll start to notice other cafes and restaurants that use their beans. It's not as many as say, Messenger, but Maps holds their own in this arena. They also make their own chocolate! And when I say make, I mean make. They actually make the chocolate bars and not just the candies. Even more impressive, it's damn good chocolate. Honestly, if you haven't been to this spot and have a love for coffee and/or chocolate it's well worth a visit. The cherry on top for me is how unpretentious the entire place is. You'll feel welcome, and the staff working will be happy to chat your ears off about their products. 5/5 for me!

I ordered and had my drink within a minute, and my food came out shortly after. I ordered the Vanilla Sky specialty latte and the Sunrise sandwich. The latte was pretty mediocre, not bad but not great either. The coffee itself didn't taste anything special, and for the price I was expecting a little more from it. The sandwich, though, was really good. Everything was cooked perfectly: velvety runny egg, crunchy bacon, melted gouda (although I couldn't taste it much), and an earthy basil mayo. All the flavors worked really well together, and it was a solid-sized sandwich too. My biggest issue was the price. I spent over $20 here, and honestly I feel like I could make a sandwich and coffee similar to this at home for cheaper and probably better.
