They had their Fall drinks written on the menu and then after explaining to me what the Johnny cakes latte tastes like, they told me it wasn't available until Tuesday, which was misleading. I tried to order a seasonal peach tea drink, and they told me they were out of it. At this point, I was frustrated and got the golden latte, which tasted awful. It was so ginger-y and not smooth at all. It tasted like the equivalent of a tough-to-get-down juice shot. I ordered a breakfast veggie sandwich, which wasn't bad, but my friend and I both ordered it for dine-in, and for some reason mine came out in a to-go box. This was super odd and there wasn't an apology or anything. The sandwich was okay - the avocados weren't ripe yet and were kind of hard. The brioche was good, but $10 for something I could throw together at home in 5 mins was unimpressive. Overall, I won't be back. Ascension in Frisco has seriously the best service, with an expanded menu, and coming here was so subpar and disappointing.

My mom ordered the chocolate croissant and said it was the best she's had at any coffee shop I've taken her to. We had it warmed, and it was incredibly rich and indulgent. The coffee was fine--nothing memorable--but the matcha was to die for. They had about six people working in a very small space, and despite that, service held up well considering how busy it was. The crowd skewed younger, with lots of people posted up working for long stretches. Definitely a long-haul seating kind of place. The vibe was great: louder music, energetic atmosphere, and it somehow all worked. There's also a stuffy (quiet) room available for rent if you need it. Matcha rating: 8/10. Second best matcha I've had in Dallas so far--better than La La Land, but still not topping Tried & True Stellar, which remains my #1. This place has real character--very local, very lived-in. I'd come back 100%, probably earlier in the day to snag better seating, since once people sit down here, they really settle in.

I always ask for an extra shot of matcha and they just two times my drink just wasn't made strong enough. I think they should definitely work on standardizing drink consistency and quality to keep repeat patrons happy. There's a large space for vinyls so if you're into that, def a spot to check out. I did like the quirkiness off the spot. The staff was kind and helpful. I had one of their special flavor lattes and my partner had just a usual flavor latte (vanilla). They were fine. Not the best but not awful. It's not your usual coffee shop, so it may not be everyone's cup of tea but I give it a taste.
