One of the oldest stations still in operation, with the station made mostly of wood. Good views of the neighborhood from up here and it doesn't smell bad with the fresh air. There's often delays, which is the only bad thing. Hipsters catch the train here. It serves the Blue Line. There's a shitload of bars and restaurants. Always busy. Lots of Instagramming motherfuckers. As for the station, it's a classic. This is my most favorite other than the Quincy station. Both have old wood paneling. There's actually a charm about it, which you can't say about most stations. Lots of places around here to drink and eat. There's a Stan's Donuts right next to here. Busy intersection. There's lots of buses to hop on. Because trains are coming here from O'Hare, there's often delays. It's the biggest complaint about it. There's lots to check out in and around this if waiting.

Lots of hipsters and wannabes going about with the nightlife. There's convenient access to bus routes. It has a pretty good location where Division Street meets with Ashland and Milwaukee Avenues. It serves the Blue Line. This is between the Chicago Avenue and Damen stations. Inside there's kind of a fart odor as others have mentioned. The station is mostly okay besides this. Of course there's a few sketchy people but that's typical stuff around. There's a few bus stops that are located conveniently close by here. Good area. It has lots of hip ass cool bars and restaurants. It seems like it's mostly safe.

I could tell you this is because of the Fulton Market area, but I believe such places ought to be judged by their own merits, rather than the area where they find themselves. Morgan is a modern station. While not a work of art, per se, the tasteful use of stainless steel with some design elements gives it a more pleasant look than the old, worn, vanilla found in other 'L' stations. (Let's put aside for now those with old charm.) Morgan is also clean, well-lit, easy to navigate, fully accessible, and wider than average. These features aren't necessarily rare, but a station is better when they're present. Ample signage, too! Finally, seating here is limited, but this is typical of almost all stations, and while I think I know the reasons, this is not the forum to discuss them. Thus, Morgan earns a spot among the better of CTA stations, with standouts being its modern design, cleanliness, and accessibility.

New, modern L Station on the CTA green/pink lines! This…read morestation is only a few stops off of the loop, but it's pretty new! Everything still shines, the steel and concrete still look fresh, and it just looks like it hasn't been around for centuries, like some of the other Chicago Transit Authority stops. There's even some wonderful public art that this station overlooks, with some cool murals that the community has put up. It's a beautiful stop that overlooks some fun shops, great restaurants, and things to do in the area. The stop also affords a great view of the city! If you need to get to somewhere in this neighborhood, I suggest you make this a way to get there! The station is handicapped accessible, and makes for easy travel in and out with a swift elevator that smelled of Pine-sol. It's a great way to get to the Fulton Market area.

The station has a Dunkin Donuts inside, but what really makes it unique is the memorial in the southwest corner of the station. The Berlin Wall Monument is a large section of the wall which once faced West Germany, and that side is filled with graffiti; the side facing East Berlin is blank. This makes sense when you consider that East Germany was under communist rule, but West Germans were free to express themselves and not face the sort of severe consequences their counterparts across the wall would have. The monument has a plaque expressing its dedication to Chicago and the gratitude of Germany toward the United States for the support of destruction of the wall.

At the time of this review, I have been living in Lincoln Square and using this station almost everyday for about seven months. First, it's dirty. You will often find trash inside the station or on the platform. Also, the platform is often covert in bird poop that is rarely cleaned. Second, it smells. I've smelled worse things on the CTA, but it a constant low level damp bad smell that is omnipresent. Third, the escalator is often broken. Recently, at least, it seems the escalator had been out of order more times that not. It makes the long walk up the stories tiring. There, however, some good points. First, the station has some amenities. There is a piece of the Berlin Wall located on the ground floor. It's worth popping in to view this even if you're not catching a train. There is Dunkin' Donuts on the ground floor. The downside is that it closes early (6:00 pm). Also, you can catch the the 49, 49B X49 and 11 buses here. Third, the platform is wide and accommodates a good number of people. If you live in, or want to visit, either the North Center or Lincoln Square neighborhoods this the best and most convenient L stop to use. I just wish they kept it in better repair and much cleaner.

We were headed to Chicago Music Exchange on N Lincoln. Our route was Cermak-McCormick to Clark/Lake, where we transferred to the Brown line for the Paulina train stop. The station gets crowded! We were there midday on Tuesday on one of the hottest days in June. Fortunately, the signage was clear and we got to the correct platform. Plus the wait for the train wasn't long. Chicago has a great public transportation train system.

Area around here can get hairy at night but there's also some bars and hip restaurants close by. The trains usually come something like every few minutes. An annoying thing is that the station is way up, so there's lots of stairs to get here. It serves the Green and Pink Lines. Trains come here fairly often. Around here it can look bad but there's a few things good such as some breweries. There's a few close to here, including Midwest Coast, On Tour, and the Goose Island Taproom. Also there's some places to eat. There's Cobra Lounge. Get in some recreational activities. It's also close to Union Park. This park is very large and has lots of athletic fields, and there's often festivals and other things.

Don't get me wrong, Granville is fine, only as several others have noted, it's just really freakin'…read morenarrow! The only way in or out is on the north side, and if you're exiting, the path you have to walk can only fit people single file, unless someone wants to take the chance and tip-toe the blue safety line (definitely do not recommend). Otherwise, the station is reasonably clean. A pressure washing wouldn't really hurt, but there is no trash or 'other' waste to be found. There is a large cover that extends over the platform and part of the tracks to offer protection from the elements, and areas with electric heaters for those winter months. There are also a handful of benches and ample signage with arrival times. Some other features of this station include an up escalator, an elevator free of foul smells (only a little chlorine), a bike rike, and a large mural. The station also appears to be staffed during peak hours. Finally, I appreciate that the station is very well lit at night. Thus, Granville is not my favorite stop on the red line due to its size. However, with the worst thing being a slight queue to exit, Granville gets an A-OK in my book.

This station is conveniently located in the heart of Edgewater, and CTA personnel do a pretty good…read morejob of keeping the station clean. However, as others have noted, the platform is very narrow, and unlike other nearby stations (such as Thorndale or Wilson), Granville has only one entrance and exit, which is on the north side of the platform. This results in a two-way bottleneck of people entering and exiting the station. Unfortunately this problem has become much worse since last May, when the station's lone escalator was taken out of service for repairs. This has forced both entering and exiting passengers to use the same narrow stairwell. Repairs to the escalator were originally promised to be finished by July, then the contractor pushed the date back to end of August. When August came and went, the contractor once again changed the completion date to mid-September. Mid-September came and went, and the contractor changed the completion date yet again to Oct. 31, 2023 (...beginning to see a pattern here?) It's now Nov 8th and the sign shows November 15, 2023 as the completion date, but nobody around here is holding their breath. You get used to this sort of nonsense living in a place like Chicago (who wants to make a bet that the project won't be done by next Wednesday as promised? I'll offer generous odds). CTA has posted signage explaining why their escalators need repairs and refurbishment, and I get it. However, the signage only explains why the repairs need to be made, it does not explain why the project has taken so long to complete and why the contractor has continually pushed back their own forecasted completion date. I'm sure the contractor will offer up some lame excuse that they had to order a special part from Taiwan which is taking months to be shipped in. I don't mind the length of time that the repairs are taking, what I do mind is that the contractor continually dangles and then revises their project completion date. Alas, this is what happens when you use union labor. There are no consequences for half-assing the job as the union will protect its members time and time again for missing deadlines which would land any private sector worker into serious trouble. You can't blame the CTA though, because if they were to hire a non-union outfit, a bunch of those overpaid union guys would be picketing outside all the CTA stations with that giant inflatable rat. So to avoid this, they just give in. This is your "Welcome to Chicago" moment, folks. The same exact thing happened at O'Hare Airport when the ATS trains were taken offline back in 2019. The project was originally supposed to take just eight months, but the contractor kept continually pushing back the completion date, and it took almost three years before the ATS trains were back up and running. And they pathetically tried to use the pandemic as the excuse for the delays, when in fact the delays began occurring long before the pandemic or lockdowns. Sheesh. No wonder why Jack and Bobby Kennedy hated unions so much.
