Legacy Oaks - Kitchen looking through pass-thru window, dining room and living room

    Legacy Oaks

I've lived here for almost a year now, and decided to put up a review for Legacy Oaks. Several…read moreother coworkers have their corporate apartments here too. This place offers spacious apartments, nicely designed with high ceilings, arches, large kitchens, whirlpool tubs, and plenty of big windows giving you lots of natural light regardless of which direction your apartment faces or whether you're on the first or second floor. The complex is off quiet streets behind a nice upper scale shopping center on du rhu, right off Dauphin and very convenient to I-65. The apartments are gated and you feel very safe and secure in the area. The reason I only gave the apartment 4 stars when in actuality it's 5 star quality is the maintenance and service I've received as a corporate housing renter. Maintenance and cleaning between renters leaves a lot to be desired and it did not appear to be a very high priority for the maintenance staff prior to my moving in. All of the issues I reported when I moved in have gone unaddressed. And while none of them are more than eye-sore type issues, that shows a lack of commitment to your tenant, even if they're renting through a housing company. When I moved in there was a large stain in the master bedroom carpet in front of the master bath door. Multiple sinks had water damage in the vanities and cabinets below them. There was minor water damage to the master bath ceiling from a past leak in the 2nd floor unit above. The weather stripping around the doors is torn and deteriorated (this would be much more of an issue for me if I was paying the a/c or heating bills!). The maintenance crew used gloss paint for the touch up and spot painting they did between tenants, when the rest of the walls are painted flat. So now when you walk in you see reflective spots all over the hallway, bathroom, and bedroom walls. Finally, there are coffee mug rings all over the coffee table and trim on top of the halfwall near the toilet in the master bath. None of these issue reflect poorly on the apartments themselves, but it does reflect on the maintenace staff's workmanship and management's priorities. There have been a couple other issues I did not let linger... the A/C and thermostat have had a few hiccups. I've stayed on top of those issues and they were resolved satisfactorily, usually within hours of reporting the issue, though one instance required several phone calls and leaving work to meet the maintenance working at my apartment to point out that the A/C was indeed not working (when the thermostat is set at 72 and the unit reads 76... just because you might think 76 isn't 'too hot' that doesn't mean the A/C is working!). All in all, very nice place to live... even if you have to be aggressively proactive to get maintenance done on your place!

They could do a better job of screening some of the tenants and limiting the number of people per unit, but they do not allow dogs and only small cats. Somewhat pricey for what you get, but not too bad. The management is easy to deal with and they are quick to respond to repair requests. The application process was quick and easy, and it can mostly be done from out of town. The apartments are in a good location, central to most things. Good about bug spraying and keeping the grounds maintained, but the pine trees and sandy soil make it hard for them to keep grass growing well. Not very shady and dumpsters are right out front in the some parking lots. Biggest drawback is the traffic on Airport Blvd, but there is a light at the main entrance and a back entrance to avoid Airport Blvd. The front gate does not work well and it is broken down a lot so, if you want a closed up place at night, beware.

The most significant issue I experienced during my lease involved ongoing air conditioning problems. Over time, I submitted multiple maintenance requests as the unit repeatedly failed to maintain a stable temperature and would periodically freeze or struggle to cool the apartment. This became a recurring issue across several incidents, eventually totaling seven documented occurrences. While maintenance was responsive to individual work orders, the underlying HVAC problem was not fully resolved until I personally compiled and presented documentation of each prior incident. After doing so, the issue was finally addressed and corrected. I do want to acknowledge that once the matter was escalated with clear records, management took appropriate steps to resolve it. However, it was frustrating that it required that level of escalation for a basic habitability concern to be fully fixed. Overall, the property itself is in a good location and has potential, and staff were generally courteous. That said, my experience was defined by inconsistent maintenance reliability, particularly regarding essential systems, which significantly impacted day-to-day comfort.

The management team sucks and so do the maintenance team. I contacted the corporate office a week straight to speak with Hope and I still haven't received a call back. The apartment was full of mold and no one seemed to care. I was told that maintenance would be out the next Monday with new appliances and to spray no one came out. A lot of broken promises and a lot of my hard earned money wasted. Please take your money elsewhere. These people don't care.

My wife and I are moving to Mobile next summer. We were looking at all of the places available to…read morelive in the area when Olde Oak caught our eye. We were impressed with the pictures we found on their website, the rent prices, and the amenities. My wife then discovered that they have no breed or weight restrictions when it comes to dogs and cats, which is a huge plus as my wife and I are dog lovers and really loved the fact that they do not discriminate against certain breeds of dogs. My wife then found their facebook page and discovered that they do a "Bark Box" giveaway for resident's pets. We essentially fell in love with the place before ever laying eyes on the property. Well, it just so happened that I was in town visiting family, so I called to schedule a viewing of the property. As I neared the property I noticed it is within walking distance to Catfish Junction, a very good restaurant, as well as walking distance to a brand New Mexican Restaurant that is not yet finished with construction. Once I arrived on the property, I noticed it was a gated community, which is a HUGE plus. There is something very comforting about knowing that only residents can enter and hang around the property with the gate code. I then entered the very nice, neat, decorated office and met with Ms. Chelsie. She was very energetic, welcoming, and eager to help. She went over the options as far as bedrooms/bathrooms offered in the different apartments and once I had decided, she took me on a tour of the property and showed me the apartment. The tour revealed a pool and a hot tub (open year round), a workout room which offered a good selection of workout equipment (open to residents 24/7), a wi-fi/cafe area, and a business center (open during office hours). She informed me as we walked that parking was not assigned, but you could reserve a garage or covered parking, if desired. While I would not use either, because I have no need, it is always nice to have those options. Then we made it to the apartment. Now I can only speak for the two bedroom/two bathroom since that is the floor plan I was interested in, but nice is probably an understatement. I have lived in many apartments since I joined the military, and this was by far the nicest I have ever seen. She informed me that the first floor apartments have hardwood leading in the front door and in the living room, but the second and third floors have carpet in that area instead. My guess for this is to help with noise reduction on apartments that are directly above. Anyways, back to the apartment. NICE! The master bedroom was immediately on the right upon walking in the front door. It was more spacious than any master bedroom that I have had in an apartment. It could EASILY fit a king size bed, and all other bedroom furniture with plenty of room to spare. The master bedroom also features an attached master bathroom, which is also a feature not often offered in an apartment. Some other features of the master bedroom were the very good sized walk-in closet, and the built in computer desk (it is built into the wall opposite of the door of the master bedroom). I then walked into the living room/kitchen and noticed how spacious it was. It is an open floor plan. This area features plenty of room for a sectional, large entertainment center, dining table, coffee table, and other furniture. Upon walking towards the back of the apartment, you are greeted by two doors. One door straight in front of you, and one door on your left. The one straight in front of you is the guest bathroom and the door on your left is the guest bedroom. The guest bathroom is good sized, and so is the guest bedroom. It is exactly what you would expect for a second bedroom/second bathroom. I looked in the closet opposite of the kitchen to find a washer and dryer (included in all units) and lots of storage area. I was very impressed. I then asked about internet because nobody likes living in an apartment where only crappy internet is offered, right? Well, you can breathe easily because although they only offer services through AT&T for cable and internet, it is the FASTEST internet in the area due to having upgraded AT&T fiber optic ran throughout the property. I personally love fiber optic, because it allows for gigabit internet (1000+ megabits per second speeds). Did I mention that these apartments are only 10 years old? After looking around a little bit longer, I was impressed and we headed back to the office. Ms. Chelsie gave me a pamphlet and her business card and told me she would keep in touch over the next few months, keeping me updated until it was time for us to put down a deposit on our new apartment (since we are not moving until July of 2019). All in all, this place is a hidden gem. The office staff is so courteous and attentive. Ms. Chelsie even followed up with me the day after I left. This place is amazing. 5 stars is exactly what it deserves! We can't wait to move in!
