I imagine the heads of Cumberland Farm and Shell met there when it was a grassy field, and decided there, in quiet New York, they would put up rival gas stations for exhausted travelers and theirs would be a great rivalry for the local history books. There are no obvious signs of victory or defeat to indicate who may be winning. I went with Cumberland Farms because I noticed it with enough time to turn. The station has like eight pumps available, and a pretty big store for snacks. In addition to your regular chips and sodas, they also have hot dogs, coffee, and grab & go sandwiches. It seems to have a strong local following; the other customers seemed to know the cashier. At present, they seem to be having AC issues because it's warm in there! Not unbearable, but not for extended periods of time for people who prefer the fall or winter. There are public restrooms which are actually pretty clean, that earned this station five stars for me!

There are wide open pumps, fire wood, drinks, beer, coffee, sweets, coolers, beer cozies, t-shirts, maps, chips, dip, food, kitchen items, camping and picnic gear - they have ice outside, hot dogs, slushees and Covid masks inside and all those tools and liquids for your suburban vehicle. Flory's is a place to visit, come on in! There are families (off the Taconic) outside eating at wood tables, there are lumberjacks and builders coming in to get their booze, chat and smokes on, even high school kids (wearing Yankees hats) skipping around out front sharing change for ice cream and burgers.. I have lived in hopewell all my life, and I love this area, however when businesses come in that try and take advantage of us it upsets me. Flory's uses their prime locations as an excuse to drive up prices, in regards to both gas and food. Gas is always much higher than any competitors in the area. For example, today I filled up gas for $2.79. When I passed by Florys they were charging $3.15!! Are you joking?? Although these locations are clean and well kept I'm not paying that much more for gas. Inside is no better... I hate to admit it but I drink bang energy drinks (bad habit I know) where our local Stewart's charges 2 can for $4.44 (or other locations averaging $2.50 a can) Flory's charges $4.29 for one can! This is insane. I often find myself looking for that blue Flory's logo before ever pulling into a gas station locally. If I see it - I keep driving, knowing I will he robbed by greedy owners. This needs to stop, we work too hard to be taken advantage of!

Also, breakfast is a big win-win for anyone who wants something on the go, which is gone fairly quickly. There's a variety to offer such as bagels, muffins, donuts, and bread to name a few. Take advantage of the choices, especially at a great price. The store itself is very laid out, with your typical gas station products, milk, snacks, drinks in freezers, car auto parts, you name it. I find it to be well organized leaving no mess and anything item misplaced. This Stewart's does a wonderful job of keeping up on that. This location only has 4 pumps which will require some waiting when it is busy. The prices here can be a little higher compared to some areas, but the choice is up to you. Bring the fun!

I would stop here more often to get food and coffee but it's like they hardly have any at night after 6 or 7 and don't want to make it fresh if they're out and you ask for it, unlike other Stewart's locations. They're open til 11 so I get you're busy a lot of the time with people at night coming in for gas, beer, milk, ice cream, but a lot of us come to Stewart's for the hot food and coffee. I use to go to the one in Wurtsboro and they always keep it going all day and are fast to refresh. The one over by the Culinary Institute is keeping the food and coffee more refreshed all throughout the day so I drive a different way now from the start of Hyde park thru back roads to get from Poughkeepsie to pleasant valley just to go to the Stewart's there because the one on Dutchess turnpike doesn't keep enough food or coffee full and fresh. And there's more food options in the food warmers on display at the counter at other Stewart's locations nearby. If you listen to feedback, please put more hot food back on the counter and keep all the coffees full and fresh, and I will gladly come back to this location.

They make great sandwiches and have excellent ready-to-go options and snacks. The breakfast sandwiches are especially good--way better than the Dunkin' across the street. Best of all, the ladies behind the counter are super friendly and make the trip inside worth it every time.
