Food here is mediocre and I didn't find that the quality of the ingredients (or the overall meal) lives up to the prices. Don't get me wrong, everything I've tried here is good, but that's it. If you're going to portray a gourmet-ish image, you need to meet that expectation. It's the little things that count, and at 500 noches, there are many little things that they're doing wrong.
One simple example is the meat and cheese plate... It comes packed with chesses and meats, yet just 3 tiny pieces of bread. No crackers. Nothing to go with the spreadable cheese after you use those 3 tiny pieces of bread. The solid cubed cheese was low-quality and flavorless, I'm assuming it was swiss. I've eaten better cheese from an Oscar Mayer Lunchables pack. Sad.
The artesanal beer list is excellent, except that they never have anything I want to order. 5 times I have been here and always have to make a different choice because the beer I want is out of stock.. The last (and most likely final) time here, the first 5 beers I tried to order were not available and so I settled for something I didn't really even care for.. Not impressed.
Service here is only a solid 3 stars. The atmosphere is the best thing they have going, as it is somewhat charming with live music nearly every day. They have no bathrooms, and the park's communal bathrooms are often closed for whatever reason. If you need the bathroom, you'll have to use one at a neighboring restaurant.
I think they can do a lot better. Again, the prices here are not reflected in the quality of their food, the service, or overall value. The only reason I am not giving them 2 stars is because the staff is rather friendly, although slow and seemingly unorganized. read more
