I was contacted by their "coordinator", Ms. Laura Guzman, (who gave her name as "Australia", when…read moreasked,) regarding a hospital position on Friday April 1st, 2016. A position for which I was highly qualified. Ms. Guzman found my resume online and asked that I come to their office at 825 S. Loop West in Houston, Texas, on Monday, the 4th in order to meet with a HR rep from a Heights-area hospital who would be conducting in-person interviews with applicants. She later called me back that afternoon to explain, due to a death in his family, the HR rep needed to switch the appointment to Tuesday the 5th and could I be at the office between 12-12:30 pm? I explained to Ms. Guzman that I was in class that day and would need to re-schedule. "Australia," in a very sweet but disappointing said, "Oh...we'll have to take you off the list," Believing this to be a genuine job offer, I emailed my instructor that I could not attend class because of a potential job opportunity. I then met with Ms. Guzman at our agreed upon time at their "office" which is deep inside the back part of a storefront in an industrial sector of town. The interior was spartan, but neat. I was the only applicant in their office. When Ms. Guzman greeted me, her voice was unmistakably that of "Australia," and the HR rep I was expecting to meet was nowhere to be found, and when I inquired, Ms. Guzman pretended to be baffled that I was expecting to meet an HR rep from a hospital. She then went through the motions of trying to determine who, in the office, told me such a thing, after I explained I had come to her office on the explicit instructions that an HR was recruiting and was ONLY available on this day, and I had missed class to be there. I filled out the standard paperwork, and she then ushered me into her boss's' office where I explained the confusing situation.
He saw my resume, and claimed there were two hospital positions available which we discussed, and one of which I was interested in. I was also required to get a battery of vaccines, which I agreed to do and later that day made appointments to do so. However, attempting to contact Ms. Guzman to confirm I was getting the vaccines, calling her company's number at 713-757-1331, only reached a voice mail with her instructions to leave a message. After three failed attempts to reach Ms. Guzman by phone, and no reply to my emails sent to lguzman@lengston.com, I finally left a message that I needed to hear from her or else I would have to cancel my vaccine appointment. I have yet to hear back.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience involving individuals who recruit on the Internet using what appear to be very suspicious business ethics and tactics. Ms. "Australia" Guzman apparently has no qualms about using a false name over the phone, or giving recruits a false impression in order to lure them to the Lengston office. Recruits should avoid this company which goes by several names: "Lengston Hospital Services,"; "Lengston Corporation,"; "Lengston Staffing," etc. The common denominator is the phone number which is consistent on all listings.
Follow-up: I complied with the vaccine prerequisites and had a series of 6 vaccines done on 4/22/16. When I returned to their office to provide documentation and complete other paper work, I was informed the "positions" for which I was highly qualified were no longer available. I was also given the impression I would be contacted by a supervisor regarding a supervisory position which also never occurred. This company draws you in under false pretenses then sends you on unnecessary time-consuming medical errands only to inform you the positions with which they originally lured you in no longer exist. I would avoid this company.
