Sunnie messaged my ex night before to advise he was too busy (he was fitting him in) and asked if it was ok to have his wife do the lesson at 3:00. I said that's fine and said as long as his wife was a licensed instructor. I felt this was a reasonable and valid concern to bring up as a parent. This is when he went on a rant. Following were his response: Of course she's licensed ! I wouldn't ask if she wasn't. I find that to be an insult!! I don't run a hot dog stand! It's a licensed driving school. If it's that difficult dealing with her now, I doubt it's gonna work. I'm sorry, I'm gonna have to decline. She can find someone else... after her research Thank you Ouch And... You're not the only parent I know. All parents have that concern but no one has ever said that in my 17 years if teaching. Nevertheless, I'm sorry I'm not doing it WOW. Since when did asking a valid question become such an issue. I asked as there are many unlicensed instructors around. I'm glad we found this out about him now and not later. I don't want this irrational and rude person anywhere near my son.

(I had failed the road test part a month earlier using another driving school's vehicle.) I spent some of that hour familiarizing myself with their passenger van and then about 20 minutes driving it around the road test route area with Farooq before we arrived at the PoCo ICBC, which is conveniently only about five minutes from the school. (Skip operates the business from his home, but don't let that influence your decision about whether to use their services--they've got a fleet of nice vehicles.) I had failed the road test a month earlier, in part because I didn't prepare adequately for the driving part of the test (I did pass the pre-trip inspection part, though) and in part because the van I used from the other school was a bit of a beater with a totally inadequate defrost that wouldn't defog the windows, which proved to be a significant distraction because it poured cats and dogs that day. Skip's van, on the other hand, is almost brand new and feels/performs like a charm. Even though it is longer than the other school's, it felt like I was driving a car, not a beast. That allowed me to concentrate entirely on the skills and I passed with flying colours.

Tijana provided thorough and precise teaching in all lessons that I took with her, which I found really, really helpful. I had some overseas driving experience but driving in BC is a very different with a new set of rules and challenges, but Tijana made it very easy to adapt to this new driving environment. She was also very kind, patient, calm, and supportive and always gave me helpful feedback. I also liked it when she'd use a whiteboard to illustrate key concepts (such as intersections and turns). Scheduling lessons was easy, and I could also schedule my lessons far in advance (which was much appreciated). Lastly, she is friendly and approachable which made my learning experience quite enjoyable. Highly, highly recommended for anyone preparing for the ICBC road test.
