The 49er RV Ranch is an amazing place to stay! I will never forget the kindness of the owners and maintenance when our trailer broke a leaf spring hanger. They were gracious and helpful while we repaired the trailer. One of my favorite things about this park is it is clearly family owned. You can also tell how much they care about it. The grounds are well maintained and it is such a fun atmosphere with the gold mining theme throughout. It is also a great location. It is easy to get to many of the amazing places to see in the area. The BEST RV park we have stayed at! The staff are super helpful and will help with any cables or adaptors that you might need help with. They have a convenience store with basic accessories. The park is gravel which was great because it started to rain and we didn't have mud puddles everywhere. The bathrooms are super clean and they have a shower and laundry you can use. I loved that they spaced 1 space in between each rv set up. We were in spot 55 in the corner and it was perfect! They have individual fire pits during winter season. They have a dog park in the front section. Larry helped lead us to our site and was super helpful with a couple questions we had. We live a few hours from here but we're talking about coming back just bcuz of the atmosphere and the park setup. It was so clean, had a picnic table, and each site was sectioned off. If you drive up to the end of the road, there is an 8 mile road down to the Wild Rivers where I watch HUGE NEW Motorhomes descending like an I Love Lucy Show.... Riiiiccckkkyyy. Look out...! Our 1st time here. It was amazing. We got there a few days before Thanksgiving. We bought a new power plug and it was the wrong one (left the old one at home). They did everything they could to help us either fix or make a new cord. We had to get a new end for it and they told us where to go. Came back and we were good to go. Our framily showed up. They helped with backing everyone in. The place is very clean. Everyone was helpful and kind. We were able to use the building for our thanksgiving dinner. Lots to do for kids. Tether ball, gold panning, playhouse, horseshoes, dog park and a mile away from Columbia State park. We also went to Sonora for the Christmas parade and Natural Bridges for some swimming and hiking. The store there is super cute and stocks a little of everything. We will for sure be back. If you love the area, you will love the campground. And those that put the countless hours in to keep it a clean, safe, fun place. read more

First of all I see some of the negative reviews and while I see the frustration, I think there needs to be some thought behind out comments. This park is super clean and also quite cozy. Cozy being small, sites are very close together as it is an older park and I would say about 3/4 are full timers who do live away from the camping spots. They have many facilities, ie an awesome laundry facility, a small gym, restrooms, a hospitality center that serves morning coffee, Friday free meals and smores around a community campfire. It also has a gathering facility for RV clubs and such, as well as I found a very well stocked on site store. They have cable which is often hard to find in older parks as well, and great wifi. That said, this park is definitely geared to an adult crowd, more of a retired type of camper who enjoys a quiet place close to town. For a smaller facility they have some rather large spots so those with larger rigs ie diesel pushers should not shy away, just call and make sure your rig will fit. We came with kids (ages 7, 9/, 10) and I will say, it wasn't the best fit. That in no way is a reason to leave a negative review. Not all parks are suited for all needs. There is no place to play really. The hilly topography is not conducive to bikes, and they coziness not conducive to play. Again, not a negative, just a consideration when booking. You have to think, will this suit our needs? As far as the staff. We had nothing but the best treatment from the staff. They were friendly, helpful, welcoming. They didn't say one negative thing about the kids even though I am sure for some of their guests they were a little bummed to hear them playing. The kids walked up to the store for candy where they were treated politely as they behaved politely. We were there for Veteran's day weekend which meant we were there for Sunday football and wouldn't you know it???/ I forgot our Coax cable... Not even sure how that left the rig but it did. The staff got us a huge cord so we could run it and watch the games outside and bbq!!! Sooo generous with their time, it was very nice. Also they help guide you in which is very helpful because of the coziness. I just cannot complain about this park. I can find that at this time it's not the best fit, but I can definitely see coming back when the kids are grown and I am in for the relaxing quiet weekend. read more

TLDR - a small RV park,but quaint, friendly, and some small and neat good rush decorations/exhibits. * Wi-Fi is actually decently fast. Three megabytes per second download. I've been to many RV parks and this is actually considered to be pretty good * There's a dog run! It's a decent size, fenced in area for the dogs to run around. It's all dirt, and it's sloped, but it was very convenient for our puppy to stretch his legs * Friendly customer service. Everyone waves, says hello, starts up the conversation if you're interested. * hospitality house - serves morning coffee! * they help you back into your spot. Even though I didn't really need this help, I think it's a nice touch. I'm sure they also want to make sure nobody bulldozes over a fence lol * site is very small, All the spots are around a loop * full hookups * very close to nearby attractions, Columbia historic State Park, moaning caverns, etc * cute little old west gold mining exhibits on site. There is a gold panning spot that we did not use but apparently you can make appointments with the office. read more

Overall: I would not come back to stay again. We always have a wonderful time camping and make great memories but this is just not the place to do it. The pros do not outweigh the cons. It would work for emergencies but I definitely would not recommend this site to a friend. Pros: Location! Columbia and the surrounding areas are beautiful. Our family loves it there! Scheduling was fast and easy. The general store was well stocked and the overall facilities were clean. Cons: 3 out of 4 or 5 staff members that we met were incredibly rude to our family and surrounding campsite families, leading to pretty uncomfortable conversations. They are definitely not the most hospitable! The owners also closed the game room on a holiday weekend and then made it clear that our children were disturbing them by riding their bicycles within the campsite. The gold mining area was also closed. The adults in both ours and our neighbor's campsites were also yelled at to "shut up" shortly after 10 pm, with a few other choice words that I won't quote. This is not the place for family camping unless you plan to keep your children offsite for the majority of your trip. Do not plan on smores or conversations around a campfire after dark. Do not plan on taking a ball or bicycles for the kids. We were told by the staff that Marble Quarry is a better fit for families with children. We have a family of four with two young children and were essentially asked to leave while they played. We then began to notice that there were very few families on site. The 4-5 campers around us who were upset and dealing with the same issue also had children. Unfortunately, their preference for no children is not communicated on their website or at the time of booking. The campsites are also incredibly small and most RV's and Travel Trailers had a very hard time trying to squeeze into their spots. There appeared to be a few sites that are more comfortable but most are backed a foot or two away from the next trailer. read more

49er R V Ranch is one of the nicest places we have stayed since buying our RV. We spent the last few days exploring Columbia CA. We zip lined at the Moaning Cave prior to exploring it (on a guided tour of course). We spent the next day at the Railroad Museum and rode on a steam engine from 1897 in Jamestown CA. But I digress the RV park was clean, very well maintained. The caretakers were sweet and very friendly. We had full hook up and no interruption of electrical services. The area was beautiful. I highly recommend this park for all glamping adventures and would go back in the future. We have only had our RV for about 2 months and are venturing farther and farther from home. My husband and I highly recommend 49er RV Ranch to all of you. Great place for family and friend reunion. Highly recommend this RV Park for week or weekend. read more

We wanted a 3-night getaway and 49er RV Ranch was a great solution. I'm recovering from a leg injury and it was easy for me to get around, the women's bathroom/shower was very clean, and the WiFi was excellent (fast, stable). Yes, the sites are smallish but there is a picnic table and fire pit, and the hookups worked great. We found the staff to be friendly and responsive, and it was great to have a "hospitality" center. This is literally an RV Park not campground. The sites are shoulder to shoulder and there is no privacy. That being said, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and after the competent staff helped us park my trailer perfectly, we were told that dinner on that night was complimentary. We didn't go because we had other plans, but, that was a nice unexpected offer. The hook ups, 30/50 amp and water are easily accessible. Each site has a tiny table, but, there are no firepits or BBQ grills in the sites. There is one community firepit. We happend to have the site adjacent to the community firepit. This was fine for us as Friday night they had hired someone to play the guitar and sing. He played for about 2 hours and it was fun to prepare supper while being serenaded. There's a Hospitality House (free coffee in the morning) along with many quaint buildings. Huell Howser did a show on the place and you can watch the video on the website. There's a lot of history here. We stayed here as a base to visit Columbia State Park (I highly recommend a visit here), Murphys, CA for the Irish Days Celebration (Packed with people and fun), and the Calaveras Big Trees State Park (Absolutely gorgeous and incredible trees) so we didn't need more than our trailer spot for eating and sleeping. This RV park is located in a great place to access these other places. There was a large group visiting, but, they were considerate given all the dogs they had with them and I only mention them because the park can easily accommodate a large group. The group also used a very quaint dining hall for some of their group meals. This place is old and charming. It's maintained and clean. I used the bathrooms and shower (free) throughout the weekend and found them always clean and stocked. We were pleased. read more

I love this little RV park. As the name implies, it is an RV park and not a campground and this is accurate. The park is clean and charming with free gold panning lessons and a hospitality center where you can get a snack or have the central campfire lit (they will even supply the wood and marshmellows!!). A group of RVer's came in for a meetup (the park has a cool old building for groups) but everyone was friendly and courteous...not creepy old people. And while Italian Bar Rd is close to the sites it really has light traffic...sure you can hear the cars drive by but in all reality it was maybe a dozen cars the entire day, and I heard NO cars at night...not one single problem sleeping in til 9 am (and my husband slept in til 11am). Columbia is an old gold mining town and fun to visit. There were kids on a field trip having a blast riding in the stage coach and sampling rock candy. The hubby and I road our bikes to town, grabbed an old fashioned breakfast at the Columbia House and then walked down the old streets sight-seeing. We also hiked at Natural Bridges (about 30 minutes drive from the RV park) which I highly recommend. Murphy's and Moaning Cavern are also close by...and a must see!! We stayed in a 32' RV for 3 nights...and would definitely come back. read more

This is more a RV park than campground. We went to the 49er RV Ranch for our first trip in a new travel trailer. This is the first time we stayed and it won't be the last. We arrived later in the evening than I had originally hoped. I called and was told it wouldn't be a problem. When we did arrive, folks were waiting to assist us to our site. Check in was super fast and very friendly. I was handed off to Dustin to get my trailer situated. Dustin and another gentleman assisted in getting me maneuvered just right. Yes, as others have said, this is a smaller RV park and it was full, so space is tight, but doable. After I parked the trailer, Dustin spent some time giving me the low down on not only the site, but what the park had to offer. He ended it with an open invitation to call on him for assistance at any time during our stay. We set up and I found the site was not perfectly level, but close. despite the rustic look, all of the amenities for my trailer were updated and appeared to be well maintained. It was close to 100 degrees when we arrived, so the first thing I did was plug in to get the A/C running. A quick test of the post showed that despite all the other sites running A/Cs, etc, I still had 120 volts on the 30 amp side. I don't think it dropped much the entire weekend, and it was hot. Water pressure was no problem as was the cable signal and decent wifi. Quite time is enforced and it was dead quite by 10:05 PM each night. There were campfire get togethers and free coffee each morning. Lloyd the Miner gave my 11 year old son lessons in gold panning. He was an outstanding instructor! The bathroom and shower facilities are in an old barn, modern, but on the small side. We didn't use them much. They have laundry facilities also, again, small to fit into the overall theme of the park. Everyone I ran into was great and it was a wonderful weekend to figure out all of the stuff on our new trailer. Very relaxing atmosphere that we will visit again! read more

We just returned from camping at 49er Ranch for Memorial Day wknd. We had a great time. It was our first time here and the hospitality cannot be beat. From the moment you check in, they help you back in, help you get your rig hooked up, will even build you a campfire if you'd like. They have free gold mining lessons, free coffee/cocoa in the mornings, free smores around the group campfire, free hot dog meal on Fri nights, the list could go on and on. They have ping pong tables, laundry facilities and bathrooms/showers. If you are camping with a buddy you can ask for the buddy discount of $40/night. Normally $49/night. And, when you book your next trip while camping, you get your next trip for $49 (for TWO nights)! So it's practically a night free. We were in site 55 which is at the end of the corral loop and overlooks some other sites. It was nice if you prefer to be set back off the road. Cons: I booked for a group site months ago, and I was assured we would all be right next to each other. When we pulled in, our party was placed all over the campground. To say the lease, I wasn't thrilled that they promised we would be together, they had even sent my mother a map of all the campground and the site numbers we were supposed to have. Since they messed up the sites so bad, they gave me one night free. They also shorted us a site because they overbooked...so I ended up having my uncle stay in one of the campsites with us. The management quality completely sucks, they do not know what they are doing. Sites are way smaller than what is pictured in the website-so if you like space, don't come here. Pros: although I felt the management was completely incompetent, they do help you get backed into each site. If your doing a large group(like we did), you get use of a kitchen/clubhouse that is equipped with tables and chairs...great for our large group, and it feels like your in the gold era...you also get it to yourself the entire time your here. Dog park, nickel coffee, a little general store, close to Columbia state park, tether ball, full hook ups. Final thoughts: if there was no other place to stay, then book here...otherwise, never planning on coming back. I wish I could give 2.5 stars. If they had followed through with the promises they had made, the only negative would have been the size of the rv spots and I would have given them a 4 stars. read more

This place sucks, it's small, the camp sites are really tiny, no place to hike, this place is not kid friendly. The store smells like butt, (farts) no camp fires, this place is loud (traffic) the employees wake up early and make a lot of noise (7:00 a.m.) , I couldn't sleep, 49Er RV Ranch feels like the movie " Hills have eyes" creepy, the old people who live there stare at you, they watch everything you do, save your money go somewhere else or stay in a hotel, the RV managers are nice and helpful. read more

It was everything I was hoping for. Very charming and well maintained. In a very beautiful location,but mostly its the people...from registration, to helping me back in!!. And the interesting characters throughout.. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. And the nightly entertainment was lots of fun. Marshmallows around the campfire. great place when we pulled in the host called me by my name i asked how did he know it was me he said i was the last guest to arrive. he knew my name-- thats the point. it was completely filled up. the staff memebers helped me into my spot made sure i was familiar with all the hook ups and told when 'im done go in and check in ( most places wont let you do athing before you check in). that was nice after a 7 hour drive. hook ups were easliy accesable and in good location all my connections fit with out needing extentions. staff super helpful and freindly. my spot was not that wide but its okay enough to put out awning and table. we spent the days touring so we did not spend much time here at camp. other spots looked good size. staff is constantly check the groups so you hear the carts but the grounds are realy nice. the old buildings and mining stufff is really cool. at night at the campfire pit we talked to some of the empolyees and they gave us some great history and facts about the place and the area. great place come visit plus huel howser was here read more

Forget being able to sleep in and enjoy a weekend vacation, people up at the crack of dawn arguing and talking very loud, allowing their dogs to bark constantly. My wife and I wanted to visit Columbia State park so we went online looking for RV resorts in the area. We found 49er RV resort so we thought we'll give them a try and I'll so glad we did ! When we arrived we greeted by Dawn she was very friendly and she checked us right in. When I went to the truck another member of the staff (Larry) was there ready to show us and helped us back in our trailer. The park was only about 3/4 mile to Columbia State park it made very convenient. It was also close Sonora, Jamestown and Murphys. The Park offer a dog run area which was great for our dog. The park has group campfires every night we were there and to top it off free s'mores for everybody!!! There were a lot of kids in the park but at quite time we didn't hear anybody that was a big plus for us !! We checked in on a Friday afternoon it was perfect timing because they offer hotdogs and chili on Fridays for a small donation. I want to thank the staff for everything!!! We'll be back !! read more
