AVOID GOING HERE AT ALL COSTS. There are plenty of amazing treatment centers in Orange County. Do not choose this place. I went here and was treated horribly by staff. They do not care about your well-being, they only care about clients being here so that they get your money. After leaving this program, a male house manager attempted to add me on Snapchat. Please note that the majority of the good reviews for this place are from from several years ago and that there really aren't any current good reviews. That's because this place has taken a turn for the worse over the last couple years when Rodney (The one who made what it used to be which was amazing) passed away. A lot has changed with new ownership and 449 is completely different than what it used to be. I literally hadn't even started the 449 IOP program yet before having a negative experience which was when I arrived at their house and met the house manager. She came into the garage wearing a T-shirt (nothing else) with no teeth in (she wears dentures) and proceeded to tell me that I had "too much shit" and that I would need to get a storage unit before even saying hi or welcoming me. She told me this while I was standing in the garage that stored everyone else's shit (with almost every pile being equivalent or more of what I had) so I couldn't quite wrap my mind around why I was being told that I would have to pay for a storage unit. The 449 program itself is repetitive and the groups suck and I can honestly say that I didn't learn or gain anything from the months that I spent in the this program! An example of this is that every single week for the first month I was there, I was required to attend the new client group held weekly which is the exact same shit every week! They don't provide you with lunch and's it just was overall a complete let down and waste of time. One last thing (there's plenty more to complain about but this is the last thing I'm choosing to focus on). They do a beach day every week (or every other week...I can't recall) but that involves being required to stay at the beach for the ENTIRE TIME (six long and painful hours) with no shade and absolutely nothing to do. I can understand being required to stay if there were activities planned or groups being held but there was none of that! So it's basically you being forced to stay at the beach for six hours with nothing to do, no shade and they don't even bother to provide you with food. The thing that I had a huge issue with was that I have a history of skin cancer and cannot be in the sun for that long (even with sunblock, it's not safe for me to expose my skin to that). They wouldn't even allow me to get an excuse from my dermatologist and told me that I would still be required to attend and didn't seem to even care that being forced to stay at the beach for six hours on a weekly basis was extremely dangerous for someone with my skin type & history of skin cancer! If you're looking for a solid IOP program, 449 is not it! read more

I was referred to 449 via a treatment center in San Francisco and attended the program there for 3 months. On arriving there I was greeted by some of the friendliest and caring councillors. I have been through the program and graduated in September 2016 and have been back many time as an alumni. The Key difference that stick out to me was how all the staff there are in recovery and work a good 12 step program them selves and they are truest passionate about there recovery and helping you find your own path. I moved from London, UK to attend this program and have been back and fourth a few times and I need to be grounded and I have access to the program any time I need it. This has to be the best program I have ever been to and they have a great success rate as almost of the successful people seem to move around the center and keep coming back to reconnect but primary to help others through their story giving other Hope that's key to recovery. They have me so much and my life back and I'm eternally grateful to them for that. Especially my family who have there done back. Garry has been a great Counciller to me and change the way I look at life now. Rodney has taught me humility and shown me how success can be possible through hard work and discipline as only though that routine we find our true freedom in life. I'm back in the UK now but will be back again to attend the lovely alumni program and meet all my 449 Family as now these strangers have become my support group as we all together can beat this disease and recover. I'm so grateful to all of them for there compassion and dedication to helping others recover and enjoy life again. My sober date is 23 May 2016 and I now have 7 months and 26 days, funny as I could not stay sober for an hour and at one point I had 8 years of good sobriety and feel like that time was not lost as I get that back daily. I had a relative in this outpatient program that has been in business a little over a year and though two psychiatrists we asked had not heard of them, we chose it anyway. There were some things that I found highly disturbing, especially from Mr. Robinson who's bio says that he has extensive experience working at other rehab facilities. To address more than one participant by an obscene name during an open family group session was highly demeaning and unprofessional. Having "counselors" gossip about current and former participants is unethical. Also, parents who were given authorization were not being informed about their child having problems like not regularly attending or even dropping out of the program. Of the 12 participants that were in this program on family group day, seven had relapsed and or dropped out of the program in less than 30 days following, not a positive success rate. If you have insurance, great. be prepared for them to skirt around how much the program is going to cost. No matter how many times they were asked, a straight answer was never given, usually it was "your insurance is going to cover it". We finally saw what they charged this family member's insurance. Ninety days of "outpatient therapy" was over $75,000, yes, $75k! Mind u they only had to pay the deductible, but some of the top "inpatient" programs in CA don't cost that much WITH insurance and they tell you what the cost it is going to be upfront. On the positive side, the building was clean, set up nicely and centrally located. Mr. Vitto was always accommodating and Therman was always nice and professional. As for the reviewer Kenny H. who commented about my post, its very clear you haven't attended 449 as a patient or participant, so you shouldn't even be reviewing the facility. Also, to make a snide remark about my character when u haven't a clue, being a "counselor", aka recovering addict counseling other addicts in rehab, is just as unprofessional as Mr. Robinson was to the two people he addressed in a derogatory manner. I'd address u the same way here, but It would be flagged, but one name used was pompous P and ends with a k. (4 letters) Maybe being a "counselor", u can figure out what I think of you. read more

They provide a family atmosphere with top of the line treatment, including a variety of groups and one-on-one counseling. All of their staff are well educated about addiction and alcoholism and empathetic to the client's situation. 449 also provides phenomenal alumni services once you have transitioned out of their facility. I cannot say enough good things about 449. My brother was a patient at this facility and experienced OUTSTANDING care! I am in the medical field and have had an abundance of exposure to numerous facilities around the country and this is, by far, the best I've seen. The staff really cares about, not only the patient, but also the patient's family. They are extremely dedicated and strive to make a difference. I worked a lot with Andrew, when my brother was at 449, and he is WONDERFUL! Again, I cannot elaborate how great of a place this is and how much I appreciate all that they have done! I went to 449 Recovery for a very short period of time and my experience was absolutely horrible. Let me start off by saying 449 was a step towards staying clean after completely my inpatient rehab which went really well. I was actually looking forward to another treatment program as I've always done well in structured environments and felt I was ready to take the next step to outpatient. Once I got to 449 they drug tested us frequently which was to be expected. I had clean tests for the first couple weeks, no big deal. I spoke with the psychiatrist associated with 449 about my ADHD symptoms that I had been suffering from as a kid and was hoping to get on some non-stimulant based medication to help me with my symptoms as I felt my symptoms affected my sobriety and were part of the reason I would use certain drugs. The psychiatrist put me on the maximum dose of some medication, I believe it was Strattera. It was AWFUL. I felt so uncomfortable and the medication made it so I literally couldn't even function. It made my anxiety way worse and I felt like I couldn't even speak at times because I felt so messed up from the medication. I then tried speaking with the psychiatrist and the staff of 449 about my side effects and how awful I felt and that I thought it was my new medication. Fastforward 2 hours. I'm still feeling awful from my medication and just want the bad feelings to subside and the councilors at 449 tell me they need me, just me, to take a drug test. I thought okay I wonder what this is about? I proceeded to offer to take the drug test but I've always had a shy bladder and didn't feel comfortable with people watching me go to the restroom. Let me add I was 17 at the time, a minor who did not feel comfortable with adults staring at me in restroom. I convinced them to allow me to take the drug test without people watching me after not being able to provide a urine sample. They made me remove my shoes, socks, and patted me down to make sure I wasn't carrying anything that would skew the test. I finally was able to provide a urine sample and I went back to group afterwards. I sat through the rest of group and waited for the "methamphetavan" (the nickname that was given to the van that drove us to and from the rehab center and was tolerated by the staff. Really appropriate, right?), but when van arrived I wasn't allowed to leave with the rest of the people. The staff told me to wait until everyone had left and then told me my urine sample was too cold. Okay? How is that possible it came out of my body? They then proceeded to tell me that I'm never allowed to give a urine sample without a supervisor to verify that I did in fact pee in the cup ever again. I was extremely upset at this point but continued to chug water and hope to give them a urine sample ASAP. It took me 2 HOURS before I could finally pee in front of their creepy staff member staring at me while I went. They absolutely WOULD NOT let me leave until I peed in front of them. I finally did it and got a ride home from one of the staff members because we were advised not to have access to our own cars because cars = relapse (even though this rehab center is maybe 5 blocks away from a head shop and in the vicinity of plenty more.) On the car ride home I expressed my frustration and anger towards them for holding me and not believing me and the staff member driving me home said something along the lines of "it's not about believing you it's just another way to hold yourself accountable". Accountable for what?! A few weeks later they got my urine sample back from the lab and found that I tested CLEAN. Needless to say I left the program shortly after. These people are not compassionate for anything you are going through. They don't understand or try to understand anything you've been through in your past or why you may or may not want to, for example, pee in front of their older creepy staff members. I felt so uncomfortable the entire time I was in their program and the patronizing staff made me want to relapse more than it made me want to stay clean. I also had a lot of trouble with billing after leaving the program. They tried charging me hundreds of dollars that my insurance already paid them. This program seems really low end, scummy, and deceitful to patients looking back. Their staff isn't as reputable as they say they are and I would definitely avoid this program at all costs if you or a loved one are considering this program. I managed to get 2 years clean since leaving this program and another year and some change after a small relapse After working through a lot of things in my past I've finally felt compelled enough to share my experience for something that has affected me negatively for quite some time. If you're honest, open, and most importantly willing overall to simply learn about yourself and your condition, 449 staff will help you in every way they can. I've found a safe place I can call home and I love to go back every once in a while. The staff members are wise and they all work honest programs. They live recovery, and I'm so happy I could surround myself with people like them in my then nascent sobriety. If sobriety is something you're willing to work for, this is the place that will help you, without a doubt. You get out what you put in. Remember that, cause they certainly won't work your program for you. But I received many of the necessary tools to build the foundation in my recovery and I'm still sober almost 2 years later. Previous to going to rehab, I was homeless. I was sleeping in my car and occasionally stayed with friends. When I made the decision to go to treatment I no longer had my car or the luxury of friends to stay with. After 60 in a rehabilitation program I still had no where to go. 449 offered me a place to live, under the condition that I continue my treatment in their IOP program. I gratefully accepted. After attending groups for a week, I realized how much I needed to be there. You see, the inpatient program I had previously attended was an intense and structured all female facility..... I had gained 60 days clean but I still had no knowledge of how to live a normal life or how to function in society as a sober adult. 449 gave me the safety net I needed while I got back on my feet. Drug testing multiple times a week, consistent groups, and a caring staff kept me accountable while I found a job, and solidified my sober network. Today I have 17 months clean and sober from all mood and mind altering substances. I have healthy relationships with my family, I have genuine friends, I live in a beautiful apartment, and I have an incredible job helping other addicts and alcoholics. Today I contribute to society and I'm a woman that I can be proud of. Drug addiction and alcoholism had ripped my family apart and crushed absolutely anybody and everybody who ever cared about me whatsoever. As a last ditch effort, a surely life or death effort I assure you, I entered treatment. I had been to treatment centers before, and I was met with little to no success. Short intervals of hope were time and time again met with yet worse downfalls into the moral abyss that my life had become in the tornado that was drug addiction. I removed myself so far from everything and anyone I had ever loved. If treatment didn't work this time, death appeared to be the only solution. The people at 449 recovery changed my life. I felt a love and warmth that had been pushed so far below that I hardly knew it existed in me anymore. They tarted me like a family, they loved me when I couldn't love myself. They showed me how to live life, how to be an adult, how to be a productive member of society. The amount of care and concern that goes into each and every client is remarkable. The people at 449 recovery genuinely care, which isn't something I could say for other treatment centers in my experience. The detox process was something I had always feared, but with the support of the staff, it became something I could find the strength to overcome. Today I have multiple years sobriety, I have a stable job, and am a full time student at a college where I mantain an A average. The life I have today is far beyond anything I could have ever imagined possible even on addiction.
