This shop is a treasure! I booked a seated tasting for a group of six ladies. The owner, Preeti, was super helpful in creating a wonderful experience for my friends and me! She and her daughter are so nice and created such a fun private event for us! They also prepared a delicious light lunch using the quality olive oils and balsamic vinegars they sell and educating us all about the health benefits of these products. This is not the same as the typical products sold at grocery store and definitely worth the splurge! They sell so many flavors of both olive oil & balsamic as well as other ingredients and super nice gift bundles too! AWESOME selection of vinegars and oils. Their selection is mostly infused, but thankfully they offer tiny little cups for you to sample each and every one. I love that you can really discern each individual flavor. For example, the dark chocolate one certainly was chocolately, but it wasn't overpowering or too subtle. My wife and I bought 3 750mL bottles and got a 200mL bottle for free thanks to their promotion. We ended up getting one of their newer oils (thyme and something else), a traditional 18 year old aged balsamic, and a pomegranate balsamic. And of course, as a hot head, I got their green chili olive oil for the free bottle. It is noticeably spicy, but not super. It really did taste like fresh green chilis too! Can't wait to use it as a finishing oil. Another oil that really stood out to me was their Japanese roasted sesame oil. The moment I smelled it, I could tell this was some real gourmet shit. Nutty, sesame-y, and toasty. It tasted exactly like how it smelled. Unfortunately I still have half a can of sesame oil left at home, otherwise I would've picked up a bottle, in addition to our other 4. This would go GREAT with some Hainan chicken and rice, or congee. I'm not sure why the review from N K is so needlessly pretentious. Did they not notice the EVOO they had in the center of the store? They had several options to choose from, as well as a regular traditional balsamic too. "UGH! Suburbia. Pfft, I'm from LA. It looked too polished, too curated--like something that sold overpriced lotions or flavored air. But on a lazy Saturday, we wandered in. Maybe it was the lighting. Maybe we just had time to kill. Inside, the layout is clinical. A slick, stainless steel temple to olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Each dispenser offers a tiny tasting cup, a ritual more akin to communion than commerce. Blood orange, lemon, fig--bright, vibrant, unexpected. Suddenly, we're not in a mall anymore. We're two kids in a candy store, debating the fate of each flavor: over a salad? On pizza? Ice cream? It's surprisingly... fun. The place feels out of place, like a Roman trattoria set down in the food court of late-stage capitalism. We were the only customers, but they've been here for years, which means someone out there is quietly fueling their kitchen with jalapeño olive oil and aged black cherry balsamic. We left with the blood orange. It's a knockout, acidic, punchy, the kind of bottle you find yourself reaching for again and again. But not everything landed. The staff? My friend hosted and pre-arranged a private tasting with Preeti for six of us. The beverage (sparkling water), appetizer, salad and entree used some ingredients that could be purchased at the store. For instance, the organic pasta, the oils, vinegars, and olives. I even did some early Christmas shopping. Preeti, the owner, is a trained chef and her creations were easy, delicious, beautiful. You're given a wealth of information and cooking ideas you can easily apply in your own home. Preeti's daughter made our group comfortable (i.e kept our glasses filled, took photos, and answered our questions). It's a very relaxing time to catch up with friends, be served, and shop. One of the crappy things about shopping for anything niche in suburbia is that it's all catered to what I'll call Applebees America. The type of people who think mayonnaise is spicy and who eat at Outback when they want a nice steak. Was looking for specialty olive oils for a gift, and it's basically all infused olive oils and vinegars. That's the only variety you'll find here. Do you want your mystery olive oil infused with thyme? Or infused with basil? Or perhaps infused with lemon? The fact this place exists in the mission Viejo mall should've been a dead giveaway but I had misplaced hope. This place was awesome. The store intrigues you to try out all of the different flavors of olive oil and balsamic vinegar they offer and the staff was very friendly. The Olive oil itself is so good. The flavor infusion is strong, we got Garlic and unlike other garlic infused olive oil, this one really tastes like garlic. We also got black currant balsamic vinegar and I hate vinegar. I had received an expensive gift from this place one and a half months earlier. I didn't care for the flavored oils and vinegars, so I drove 50 miles to take them back for an exchange. The woman that helped me was very rude and refused to exchange them because I didn't have a purchase receipt, even though the gift was still in all of the original packaging and was fully sealed. She said olive oil is too old after 30 days. If their olive oil is considered old after 30 days, that represents a pretty poor product or bad labeling that doesn't have an expiration date. Also, the location isn't easy to get to, as it is buried inside of a large mall. Save your time and spend your money at a local small business which has friendlier staff and higher quality products. read more

I have been to this store for the last 5 years only to be met with an awesome customer service. Not today, very rude sales associates that was extremely unprofessional during the final transaction when I was checking out. They have a promo to give free sample with 4 or more bottles. So I picked out my sample and I told them that I have email coupons that I get regularly. So the associate took the sample back from the counter telling me I can not get a sample and the coupon which I usually get with no issues in the past. She was extremely rude as she too the bottle away. I told her I have been coming here for years and never once had a problem. She goes "you don't understand me" in a derogatory manner. I told her you lost a customer and she just did not care. If I am buying over 100 bucks worth of olive oil which is considered luxury item, one would not care much about sample for 10 bucks. But it is the way she handled it. I walked out of the store And will never buy from them again. This is a reply to your message. This is not about store policy, and if I am not happy with it or not. You misunderstood my complaint. I am complaining about your sales associates that did not care to be professional. Like I mentioned in my original message, if she said it in a more courteous manner I would not be writing this complain now. She was unprofessional the way she treated the situation. I was so happy to find that my favorite Olive Oil & Vinegar store in Orange County was still open during Covid-19 AND they were offering specials! They currently have a 15% off Cinco de Mayo special and in the past they have offered Easter and other specials so if you miss the Cinco de Mayo one then check out their website or Facebook page for more details. Of course in person this is the best store ever because you can sample with little pieces of bread all of the flavors - however, now in the age of Coronavirus you can read the descriptions of the oils and vinegars online and also the website offers photos and options for what to pair things with (they also have a great blog for cooking instructions). My favorite thing to do is dip bread in them with an antipasti platter but I also use the oils and vinegars to make my own salad dressings, and cook meat and vegetables. I even cooked brussel sprouts tonight for dinner in their blackberry ginger dark balsamic vinegar and it was delicious! My favorite vinegar is their Peach White Balsamic because I have tried the Peach balsamic from over a dozen oil/vinegar stores and this one is by far the best! What I like also about 41 Olive is that they offer 60ml tiny bottles for only $6.99 where you can sample different flavors of the oils and vinegars. As a Mother's Day present to myself I ordered 15 of the small bottles and I'm going to have an oil & vinegar tasting party with fresh baked bread as my Mother's Day event (my kids are little so my husband will probably come up with something too but if not, I'm going to be set ;-) ) I also ordered large bottles (you can choose 200ml or 350ml or even the huge 750ml) of the White Truffle Oil, Black Truffle Oil and my beloved Peach White Balsamic Vinegar. Having an oil & vinegar tasting party at home is something fun you can do for date night or a special event for those you are self quarantining with! You could even order some delivered to other family members and do a taste event over Zoom! Overall the whole process was super easy! I ordered online and they even have a chat window where someone really does reply IMMEDIATELY! I was impressed with the fast response and I was also impressed that since I live in Orange County they delivered my order to me the very next day! Such great service to get doorstep delivery and everything was packed really well that you can order some as a great gift for family too!
