His colleague, a very pretty, tattooed lady, was a bit shy but nice. Where else can you get a caneca and a bottle of Heineken for a total of only €4.50? I'll tell you where - the bar across from the train station in Tunes (Silves) down in the south of Portugal! But you won't hear any rock and roll there! We were staying in a beautiful Airbnb just up the hill northwest a mile. We could see Guincho, but Bar do Guincho is tucked up just off the beach with a big beautiful open deck with glass railings. Other outdoor sections are more protected from the frequent wind, and then there is a great room indoors with a big fireplace for the off season. Service was awesome. Each table had a unique QR code on a caddy that allowed you to not just see the menu but order at your own pace and also pay at the end. They also offer regular table service for curmudgeons and luddites. (just joking!) We ordered the delicious passion fruit sangria and it arrived in 5 minutes. All of our food was excellent, particulary the Portuguese fried shrimp (sauteed to Americans!) and the ceviche. The fries and bread were also delicious. You will not find a more beautiful view or a better vibe. We never go back to the same place during a short visit but we hit Bar do Guincho twice in three days. Can't wait to return next visit!

It's about 10-15 minutes from Sintra, in the small village of Colares. Unlike Sintra, there aren't any tourists and it's truly locals only. We both got the steak and fries and it was the best steak ever. After we got done, the owner came over and chatted with us about the area and the restaurant. She's lovely and very proud of the restaurant. We asked her to pick out a dessert for us and she brought us cookie cake and it was SO good. When we were having lunch, a delivery came with fresh produce, so you know the food is fresh. The restaurant was authentic Portuguese food and worth the trip. If you're going to Sintra, I highly recommend coming here on your way! If I was a local, I'd eat here every meal. The best food and the best people. Truly felt like they welcomed me into their home.
