Currently she is also doing a sale once per month so if you follow along on the Facebook page you will be able to see when that is happening. She also post pictures of current inventory so you can see some of the things that are available in the shop. Also attached to the shop is a little booth area that people have items in and you can check them out as well. Lastly she also offers dry cleaning service and a dry cleaner out of Shelbyville comes to pick up items weekly. This is very convenient for me as I have a little bit of clothes that need dry cleaned.

I stopped into this carpet store / antique shop and ordered some carpet for an outdoor front porch…read more I think the husband runs the carpet business and the wife runs the antique business, and the son-in-law is one of the carpet installers. How's that for a local family operated business! It took about 7 days for my special order carpet to arrive, then due to it being a bit chilly and rainy and this carpet going outside on a covered porch, we had to wait about another 30 days for the weather to be right to get it installed. The installers came and had it done in about 6 hours, and this included tearing up the old carpet and hauling it away. The new carpet is very soft, easy to clean, feels great on bare feet, has a 5 year warranty, and looks great on the front porch. The very old (30yrs??) worn carpet was one of the first things seen by anyone walking up onto the porch, and now it makes you proud to have people come to your front door. They did an excellent job, acted professional, and all seems to have been done very nicely and correct. To cover the porch with 1 piece of carpet and avoid having a seem, I did have to order a larger, most costly, piece of carpet. But with it being outdoor carpet I was worried the seem would give in a year or two and cause issues, and I will just use the leftover carpet elsewhere. The cost was right at $500 total for everything. Approx size of 8ft x 16ft, very high quality carpet.

The store could be a nightmare for sensory issues, or just an unpleasant shopping experience: Blaring top 40 radio station, complete with noisy static and screaming commercials. Migraine-inducing chemical air fresheners placed everywhere. Tightly packed rows of racks trigger claustrophobia and are hard to navigate. The racks are packed tightly too, so hard to flip through. Some of the clothes look too worn out, even for a consignment store. Very few shoes, not much jewelry. Very Midwestern styles. Closed on Sundays and no evening hours.

Several years later we decided to look up The Sampler. While there we told them how we had come to even find out about the place. It an odd twist of fate, the Clifty Inn had just remodeled and asked them to come pick up their furniture. They were in the process of restoring them. To make a long story short, we bought them. Their furniture is not inexpensive. It is not disposable. Think of it more as an heirloom. It is built to last. The color deepens with age. Incredibly sturdy--what you would expect with solid cherry. Four stars? I wish they had more examples of their work in their showroom so you could actually see and touch them I also wish they had a few smaller items like spice racks and napkin rings.

National Road Antique Mall is one of 17 antique shops in the town. The mall is filled with two stories of antique booths that carry primitive antiques and vintage Americana. Many booths were offering sale prices. I was greeted when I walked in by friendly staff. The mall is clean with mostly wide aisles. There is a restroom centrally located on the first floor. There as plenty of free street parking today, but probably at a premium when summer rolls around.

The booths were all clean and well organized. This was my first time in the shop and there were a lot of nice items and they were reasonably priced. It is a small shop but with it being well organized it makes it easy to navigate, we had a 5 year old with us and he was able to walk through without us worrying he would knock something over. I will stop in here again to check out the booths to see the changes after Christmas.
