I never have identified why, but most grocery stores don't stink like this one. Today I stopped in to get a few days groceries. As usual, I pick several extra items because of SALE tags. My wife and I both have the old Valli Produce card from years ago, so I type in my phone number on the keypad and confirm with cashier that it was accepted. She tells me that I would "ONLY GET THE SALE PRICES IF I HAVE THE APP!" I mentioned the sale price is the only reason I selected many items. She asked her manager if she could help by scanning her own app and the manager said they no longer do that for customers. Today this grocery store went from might stop at to never will again. This was my first time in the store, everything looked clean and orderly, employees were friendly. it was a good vibe. I grabbed a few other items, some mushrooms, soda pop, a cantaloupe and a 12 piece chicken dinner. This morning I looked at my bank statements and noticed the charge at Gray's seemed a little high. I still had the receipt in my sweater pocket and instantly saw the "discrepancy." My $1.49 cantalope was priced by the pound, something I've never seen anywhere else. Naturally at $1.49 I picked the largest one, I paid $8.27 for one cantalope. I guess I should have paid better attention, but I've never seen cantalope priced by the pound anywhere else, ever. No more visiting Gray's Foods for me because it's a little out of the way and the chicken wasn't that good.
