Well it's my first morning after staying at his B&B and have to say.. Very nice. Sandy was very helpful. When we checked in she had some coupons that saved us a bunch of cash at the Mayflower and mill. She accommodated our food allergy issues. Daughter was entertained with piano and her dog Sandy's dog Maddie. Sandy was flexible on room assignments since we were the only guests this early in the season. Had a nice nap on the balcony overlooking the garden Woke up early and coffee was made. So overall a good experience.

After the third call I found Along the Harbor. What a surprise! No website, no publicity, but a truly lovely place to stay in a plum location. The Winslow suite has a beautiful view of Plymouth harbor and gets a natural cross breeze. There is a porch on the rear of the building that also overlooks the harbor - an ideal place to unwind with a glass of wine. The location is in easy walking distance of all of the downtown attractions, including the Mayflower II and Plymouth Rock. Please note that this B&B does not serve breakfast. I guess that just makes it a B. Instead they provide vouchers for local restaurants. As we wanted to sleep in this turned out to be a boon. If I make it back to Plymouth we're returning here. Along the Harbor is a pleasant surprise.

Luckily everything in our range was sold out, because if not we never would've experienced this cozy nook. Ms. Beverly, was more than happy to take my call and book the Winslow Suite for us. She even mailed us directions. No not email, good ol' regular post mail. That alone made me extremely excited and even more grateful that we found this spot. Upon arrival at 4am, we were greeted with a handwritten welcome sign hanging from the doorknob and a very clean quarters. The bed was a bit worn in and too soft for my liking, but we managed to sleep well enough. The next morning our senses were awoke by the gorgeous sunny views and fresh ocean cross breeze. Though breakfast isn't served on property, vouchers ($20/ea, which are included in the cost) are issued for local fair. We chose to opt out of the vouchers and take the $40 off of our rate. We spent all day venturing through the towns antique shops and sight seeing attractions. All of which were in very close walking distance. Ms. Beverly, even suggested an ice cream parlor just up the road in Duxbury, where we had the time of our lives wandering through all the ocean front communities, eating the freshest lobstah ever and savoring the creamiest ice cream for dessert. The first impression of this place was so good that we almost forgot we were there for a wedding. No matter where you need to be in eastern, southern or central MA, I would suggest you stay here and drive to your destination. I won't continue to rant... Just go!!! It is beyond worth it.

It's like two blocks from the water and the House of Seven Gables; a few more blocks to the Witch Museum and everything else. We stayed in the Great Room, and it was amazing. There's a fireplace in the bathroom! I don't think it works, but it's still awesome. We also did the house tour, which turned out to be one of my favorite tours for the whole trip. Vijay was our guide (and also our point if contact during our stay), and he was super nice and informative. The house has a rich history, and you can tell that Vijay is really excited to share it. The tour is just the downstairs area, but it was so fascinating that it was totally worth it. When we stayed, they were still giving vouchers to Red's Sandwich Shop, which turned out to be perfect for us. We ate breakfast there most of the trip. I'm a vegetarian, and my husband can't have any dairy, and Red's had something for each of us. I'd recommend everything about the Daniels House, and we'd definitely stay here again.

The Father called me back and without any kindness- no I'm sorry for your loss or any offer of what others who have called him do instead- he said Catholic policy doesn't allow the body to be spread; it must be interred. I can respect that his rules and beliefs are different from mine... But when someone calls with a dead parent looking for help to put that parent at rest, maybe the first response of a religious leader should be one of compassion before you throw the rule book at them. No wonder young people want nothing to do with the church. Also the ban on spreading rather than interring seems like a strange rule to enforce considering all the body parts and blood of multiple saints that the Catholic Church holds as relics- shouldn't the Father and his colleagues start interring those with the saints bodies in that case? Anyway it's a tax free vacation house for Catholics with 32 rooms in the wealthiest part of town. End of a Gated community with a security guard. Stays at the house cost upwards of 3000. Meanwhile in downtown Gloucester there is an overfull homeless shelter struggling to help everyone, and as far as I know the retreat center does little for those folks. Between that and the constant Priest abusing children problem in the church, I would say if you are a true believer find a better place to spend your time and your money- one that actually serves your God and his children. Pretty sure Jesus would flip the tables at this place.
