We bought some blinds from the Ventura store a few years ago and had a problem with one and need to have it replaced. I dealt with Mari in the SB office and she is amazing! She got back to me right away, figured out that I should have the one next to the original blind replaced as well (for the same price) and kept me up to date on shipping speed etc. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. As the office manager, i thought I had exhausted all the affordable options to cool our upstairs…read moreworkspace. Initially I was pricing out A/C splits and portable ACs ( which need to vent heat) and evaporative coolers which need open windows. None of these were good fits for the office. I then found 805 Shutters and Mike gave me confidence that a shade cover will help modify the temperature. The landlord and I were leaning towards selecting the honeycomb shades but opted to try the shutter shades that were recommended as they can withstand the heat better, hence last longer. Mike and his team member came out and installed the shutters very efficiently; and we were finally able to enjoy the space! Wish I found 805Shutters sooner so we could have utilized the upstairs as a great workspace For the past 3 years. Currently, the office staff are working comfortably and appreciate that the office space has been 'expanded' to accommodate more staff. -Jina / Office Mgr

Faitell Attractions, opened during the pandemic, is a REVELATION…read more The only reason I stumbled across the store was my passion for coconut frozen yogurt, which Yogurtland currently sells (along with pistachio). Parking in a garage downtown for a frozen yogurt irks me so I rarely go. I passed this consignment and the moment I entered, my eyes grew big. It's mostly furniture---a mix of mid-century modern and other classic pieces--but also one of the best designer resales I've seen in the back. Every bench, piece of art, chair gorgeous. You just have to go in to appreciate the extraordinary taste of Lisa Faitell, who moved to SB from Westchester County (a tiny town my dear friend lives and I just spent three nights). It's a mother-daughter operation, which I love. They also do custom window treatments and you can arrange for delivery. In the hour I spent, a woman in Laurel Canyon bought a large bright aqua sectional couch. I love absolutely everything. Note: the clothing runs small. Best if you are a size 2, 4, or 6. I love that a New Yorker opened this store--in a pandemic no less. New Yorkers have grit and chutzpah, always rising to the challenge in the most fraught conditions. I bought a dress (48 dollars) and an incredible long sweater-jacket with pattern (50). Wearing the dress to the Granada Saturday, my first time since 2014 before I moved to the city. If you're downtown, you must go in. It's impossible not to come away with a treasure. I went in to look for plant stands and found an outdoor set for 50 they only sell as a pair. I might have to go get it, though I really only need one.
