The absolute worst! Wish could give zero stars!…read more If I had ANY idea how bad it is, would have chosen someplace else. I chose only because close to me. Always short staffed. I had to be there every day for three months, to make sure was cared for. Many times left in her pajamas until 11 or 12 noon. Pajamas torn and down to her knees, left in bed like that until after 11:AM. Took photos. Had to have family dentist twice, send orders to brush her teeth.. Still has all her own teeth. I'd go in at 9:00 PM bottoms of her pajamas not on or sleeping socks to keep warm. Jist put the top part on so easily change Depends. Menu always read wrong, No one there could read English. Did not even get what was ordered even though her slip was on the tray. The NEW dietitian fired. I took her in food that I had here, homemade soups and fresh fruit. She ate it all, they would never give her what she ordered. Supposed to be able to use the bathroom. Constantly told too busy. One day Mom back from dentist, I went by 4 hours later. Mom still had her coat and her winter scarf wrapped around her neck. Put her in front of a TV. I asked, " why in the world was she still in her coat," they said because she was cold. Are these people just so stupid that they can't take coat off and put her sweater on? 4 HOURS LATER!!! No common sense. Several sat in front of TV...had " Minds of Serial Killers" on. Pure stupidity. Head nurse came to mom's room once and asked if I called the Ombudsman in. She said, " if you have a problem, you need to talk to me! " "Yes I did call the ombudsman, her poster out front says, anyone has a problem or concern to call her. Few weeks later, I go see her, like she asked, I had concern. Mom not getting " prompt" to brush teeth, use bathroom, etc. She rose her voice at me...and she's a nurse! I said, " I'm just asking they prompt mom to do these things to help her....after stroke. She stood up, got in my face, said, " don't you dare say we don't use comon sense again". She got in my face like a high school girl looking for a fight. I'm old enough to be her mother, and she treated me with no dignity, or dare I say, common sense.. No empathy what families going through. She about had me in tears, I just looked her in the eye and said, very calmly, " that I hope none of her family members EVER have to be under her care." I turned and left. And I meant that, NO empathy. I was tired being there for hours doing their job. I literally had to cancel a flight due to fact mom would not be treated well if I left. She tells at me. Nurse at Central Baptist Hospital said, " that's why they work in nursing homes, they would never be able to work in the hospital." Mom had PJs ripped or bottoms stolen. What really hurts, cards made by great grandchildren on nightstand. Next day all gone. Some came all the way from France. They were taken. Told staff, and I was told, and I quote, " they must have accidentally fallen in trash can." These hand made cards were special...made by children. Accidentally my foot. I said, next time steal her socks, not her cards. One day..told social worker of concerns. Just stands there, not communicating. I ask her, if she would want her mother treated the way my mother was. Her answer was, "I really can't say." . A grown woman can't speak up. Mom got new roommate. Woman was heavy smoker, moms never smoked. Room reeked of smoke, all of this ladies clothes and belongings. I said I wanted my mother moved in 24 hours. Facility uses no common sense. Twice, an aid eating someone's desert off the lunch cart in hall. I mentioned it to someone, asked me to tell who it was, couldn't, afraid would treat my mother much worse. Always strong odor. There's been strong urine or smell in one hallway. Nurse said. " more men in that hallway, their urine is stronger" Told Ombudsman. "That's not true, lazy, not cleaning up." Carpeting discolored, holding stains , and it stinks! One day, an employee texting behind the sheets and towel area where they keep on rolling carts. Mother got perm. AIDS next day, washed her hair and wash the perm out! $75 down drain!. No common sense." They knew she was in beauty shop. The place is dirty, 6 days before mom moves, a scabies outbreak. Low staff. All residents had to be treated. Said "it's coming in from someone outside." Employee. Two AIDS leaving out the door...caught scabbies...leaving work early, two boxes of cream each, for scabies. Could not get my mother out of there fast enough. Where she is, is beautiful, so clean and mature adults working. A real mature head nurse. Nurse at doctors offices," It was the atmosphere that was doing her damage." They ssid, I quote, "get her out of Brookedale." Thousands $$$$ less too!

Three weeks later my parent went in to tachycardia, requiring an emergency trip to the hospital. Promised showers twice a week, did not delivery. Pay attention to reviews and do your research!

The only time I leave my home is to get groceries or seek medical treatment during the pandemic…read morequarantine. Well, the majority of the time. For this trip, I'd been referred to the Sports Medicine Center to follow up on my ankle. After the check-in, I was examined by the doctor. My doctor was very thorough and gave specific recommendations that will surely help speed up the process to recovery.

Writing this review is a mixed bag for me. My orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Burandt, is wonderful but I…read moredon't like having to see him because that means I have broken something! Last year he treated me when I fractured my fibula & this year I broke my leg in three places while on vacation and had to have emergency surgery in St. Lucia! Upon my arrival back to the states, he came and saw me in the hospital because I could not get to his office. He told me the surgeon had done a wonderful job (thank goodness!) & I would be going to a rehabilitation facility for a couple of weeks, Home therapy after that & that is what I am still doing. He has seen me each month since the break (May) & always explains everything to me so it is easy to understand. The office staff is very efficient and I usually don't have to wait too long-they don't overbook appointments so you are not sitting there waiting forever-that's a real plus! I hope you never have to go, but if you do, I highly recommend this practice.
