    We rented 54 chairs and approx 11 tables. The tables are very old and made of wood. You can…read moreobviously hide them with nice thick table cloths but one table fell 2x on us. We could not use it due to safety. It was a very heavy long table with a leg that did not have a safety on the latch. The chairs that were delivered were absolutely unacceptable as they look like they had been dragged across the concrete many times. They were very very worn and scratched. We called the office before the delivery man could leave. We were able to request a different chair that were provided for the same price as I was now going to pick them up. The lady was very nice. We were originally told the tables and chairs would be set up and taken down. There was somehow a mix up and the guy just said I don't do that and left. The lady at the office assured me it would be done for the pick up. We just took them down ourselves. Not a big deal but the set up sure would have been nice. I had free tables and chairs from our church but chose to pay$ in order to not have to pick up or set up. Their linen rentals are twice as much $ as our caterer too. I would definitely reconsider this decision if I could do it over.

I was needing to fill a propane tank and they had a banner flying that advertised as much. I went inside and was greeted promptly. I asked if they filled propane tanks or just exchanged them (empty for full ones, which some places only do). I was told that they do do refills, but there was a five gallon minimum. Wait, WTF? My tank wasn't completely empty, and I didn't want to pay for extra just to reach a minimum. This is still America, right? I asked the lady why they had a minimum. She said it was policy. I asked why they had that policy. I asked if they could change it for me. I then shook my head in disbelief as I exited. I understand why policies and rules and regulations exist in this world. However, when you lose a sale and a potential return customer because a policy that exists for no explainable reason is just inexcusable!

    My husband and I just got married last week at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. In…read morethe final month before the wedding, our original event rental company began bringing up some last-minute issues--things we had already agreed upon since the beginning of our contract. First, they suddenly said they didn't want to hang our paper lanterns. Then they changed their mind and said they would, but it would cost $30 per lantern--even though the lanterns themselves cost only about $2 each! I had done my homework and knew that other companies, including Platinum was quoting $2.50/lantern, so we were pretty shocked by the price. Second, just a week before the wedding, they informed us that they needed additional setup time, which would have forced us to pay an extra $1,400 to rent the venue for longer. At that point, I decided to shop around for other quotes. Our DJ recommended Platinum, and I was astonished to find that they were nearly $2,000 cheaper than our original event rental company--mainly because our caterer had been adding an extra 22% operational fee and 7.75% sales tax on top of the rentals. I worked directly with Sydney from Platinum, double-checked for any hidden fees, and she assured me there were none. So a quick tip for other couples: you may want to have your wedding coordinator work directly with the event rental company instead of going through the caterer, as the caterer may be adding unnecessary upcharges. We made the switch to Platinum the Tuesday before the wedding, and Sydney and her team did a phenomenal job. We were thoroughly impressed, especially given the last-minute change. Everything was on time, there were absolutely no issues, and the setup was so seamless that none of our guests even noticed the transitions. The courtyard looked absolutely stunning with the market lights and all 40 lanterns. Thank you so much to Sydney and the team for helping make our day so perfect. We didn't have to worry about a thing!
