There are actually two restaurants by the same name, owned by brothers, on each side of the square. I gave this restaurant a try since the reviews were above average but I was disappointed…read more The service was very good, and the location front row on the port. We had the caprese salad, grilled prawns, and grilled sea bream. The salad lacked flavor, the grilled "prawns" were not prawns but 5 medium sized shrimp (about $50) and the fish although fresh also lacked taste. Service: 8/10 Location: 10/10 Food: 3/10

But we had about an hour before our tickets to the aquarium and wanted to catch a light lunch so we decided to give it a try. The menu is heavily seafood-focused so that's what we went for. To start we got the marinated fresh anchovies - delicious! Light and flavorful with a bright olive oil and lemon dressing. I got the mussel soup next, which was outstanding. Beautifully fresh, tiny mussels in a delicious tomato broth that was perfect to enjoy with their bread. My husband got the linguine with crab, and I must say, it was perhaps the best crab I have ever tasted in my life. Sweet and meaty, served partly in the shell, just outstanding. Everything was so good I wish we'd had more time and more appetite to try more of their offerings...but perhaps on a future visit to Genoa.

As we discussed food plans, our driver suggested eating in Santa Margherita as the food was better quality and better priced. We took his advice and stopped by a row of restaurants. When we asked for recommendations, he simply said "all are good." Pressed for time My brother made the quick decision for this place and we crossed our fingers and hoped it would be good. BOY, was the food BETTER than GOOD!! We tried the gnocchi w/ pesto, another pasta with pesto, two different spaghetti dishes, and the ravioli. Some of my family is vegan and vegetarian, and the food fit their needs. The ingredients were simple, yet fresh and flavorful. We ordered the house wine, and beer for my dad. We walked away paying 20€ a piece (4 people) and I was very pleased. Customer service was great. Although their was a language barrier, our server spoke English, and was very personable. He was even kind enough to give me a mini lesson on Speaking Italian. We dined al fresco and the view of the parks and ocean was beautiful. I've been home for weeks now, and we still have not stopped talking about this dining experience. Definitely one of the best food experiences of my trip. I would definitely recommend.
