I had never heard of this place prior to buying a Philly Beer Week Opening Tap ticket last week. Apparently it has existed for a while, so good for them. If you're coming from Center City, it's kind of in a weird location, but I guess that's what Uber is for. The building is essentially a dark box. I imagine cats would love it. I, being a human, wasn't totally enthralled personally. It could've used some lighting, for starters, but also it was too small for a large-scale event like OT. Fortunately they did have a little outdoor section too, so that helped with recharging in the light. Bathrooms were a-okay. I didn't buy food from them but apparently they sold expensive chips. No idea how parking is...just know it's in deep South Philly. TLDR: Dark, small, not my favorite event venue in Philly but not atrocious either.

Well, this was a new experience for me! I have never been to a live fight of any kind. A friend was celebrating her birthday and this was her choice of entertainment. Arena 2300 was hosting the Warrior Cup Mauy Thai fights and my friend's trainer and teammates were on the roster. The venue is in an industrial area but feels lively and well lit. There is plenty of parking. Inside, we bought tickets at the box office and proceeded to the inner room where the ring is located. This seems like a very organized and clean space. There were people here for this event of all ages, men and women. It is very comfortable and well maintained. I guess I was expecting something grittier, in a back alley...I don't know why? There is a full bar and lounge area apart from the ring, as well as food and beer. I thoroughly enjoyed my night at the fights and Arena 2300 was a great venue.

Amazed what they've done with this place, and even more amazed at the future plans for it. This is definitely a religious shrine for wrestling fans. Had a blast during the day for an autograph / meet and greet event, and then they tore the house down with the matches that night. Already planning the next trip back.

Is there a mural in the ladies room too? It could be that the men's room wins out for decor for the first time ever.

Former Ecw arena is great. Prices for the bar good. Seems like a safe area too. Friendly staff.

The elevators are not great and often only 2/3 work. I think more transparency would be nice. 2) Showers start to flood within 30-seconds. It's gross and I, again, wish there was some transparency on why this isn't addressed. 3) The lack of outlets. This one is most frustrating as it seems to have the most straightforward solution. No outlets under the table in the library? Come on guys. Get a power strip or something please. Outlets by more seats on the 3rd floor mezzanine and terrace would be game changing! Please

A TON of group fitness classes if you're into that including free reformer Pilates classes (if you can get in.) Issues (that are unacceptable in general or just completely insane to have at the membership price point...these are things you deal with a budget gym or someplace you go for free): Constant elevator issues which cause lines and long wait times during peak hours. And for the last 6+ months they've only had two of three functioning if that. You know it's an issue, fix it for goodness sakes. Good luck if you rely on parking here. The entrance are closed half the time causing you to have to detour for a good ten plus minutes to get in and then exiting you're stuck behind trucks delivering in the alley they've left "open" for you to get out. And yes the validate but they randomly increased the price from $11 to $12 one day. Not a huge deal but why not tell members in advance? It's just sloppy. The sound systems are suboptimal for group classes especially in the HIIT studio. It is a vibe killer for sure. The spa that we were promising was coming soon when we joined in November of 2023 is still nowhere to be found. The locker rooms are adequately maintained but there are so many privacy issues. Often there are signs that there will be men working in the women's locker room. And the phone use is NUTS. People are on video conference calls! How is this allowed?? The cafe hours stink for early birds. If I'm done with my workout before 7am and I want coffee, I'm SOL. It's also insanely expensive. I cannot speak for the food there because I won't eat it after I saw a mouse in the cafe area while I was working from there one day. Treadmills are constantly broken. They added a bunch and now there's somehow less available because they cannot seem to maintain them. Out of service for a day or two is one thing but it goes way longer than that. Good luck and Godspeed accessing an assault bike or a ski erg between 10:15 and 2pm on weekdays. They're fully monopolized by the turf class and the HIIT studio is used for classes including mat Pilates (??) Generally speaking maintenance seems to be an issue. A pedal was hanging off one of the two assault bikes on the main floor this week when I was using it. A tread was sticking a few weeks ago when I started to run on it. I couldn't strap my foot into a rower the other day. It doesn't seem like it would be too much to ask that they keep their eye on this. I do feel like it used to be under control but had fallen off a cliff recently. Too many people here are shooting footage for social media. I cannot complete a workout without being concerned I'm in the background of someone's selfie-video or photo shoot. Hotel guests have full access to the gym. It adds to the insane crowds on the weekend and needs to get in check. Many of the trainers and instructors are great but a handful of trainers that either do personal training or turf classes are flat out RUDE. I was treated disrespectfully and even bullied by one of them while minding my own business just trying to complete my workout. This is embarrassing for the gym and needs to be addressed. Ultimately, I could no longer justify being a paying member with so little care shown by management about the member experience. Perhaps spending less time posting less on social media and more time listening to an addressing member feedback would be helpful.

If you see me walking down Spruce St in my squash whites, NO you did not. Anyways, The Racquet Club has been truly amazing. Despite what may come off as stuffy, old money, "white people nonsense" vibes (these were my thoughts upon my first visit), I've actually found the club to be diverse in many ways, accommodating, and (most of all) VERY well run. I have gotten to learn a new sport, meet wonderful new people, and enjoy the amenities of the club for ~$100/month with summer membership. While full membership is not at all in the budget, summer membership allows you to forego food and beverage minimums while still enjoying the many perks of full membership. As someone who works in community building, seeing the lengths the team here goes to ensure all members feel included has really blown me away. Active happy hours, pros who are there to support you, a great newsletter, etc. I love the experience of being bad at something and gradually getting better, so working on my squash game week by week with incremental improvements (REALLY incremental) has been glorious for my mental and physical health. I look forward to taking better advantage of the full club throughout the remainder of my membership.

Why does this location not have real pickleball courts and hardly any open play times?? 2. The gym is mediocre at best. Half of the machines are very old, especially the cable machines Also, their business tactics are shady in general. When going to sign up online, my only option for membership was "the signature" so I assumed that is all they had. Turns out after 5 months I realized they have a standard membership that is slightly cheaper, but is not marketed anyhwere because they want you to pay up for the signature. So I was paying around $414 a month for x2 people to get subpar basically everything.

I'm usually staying on the 3-month membership so there's repeated intervals of getting motivated again to make good use of the money I spend. There's three floors here. First floor is mostly the lobby, but also some locker rooms, squash courts, and the pool. Upstairs is the main gym area, including the rooms where classes take place, basketball court, rock wall, and indoor track. If you come over the course of an academic quarter, you'll notice the ebb and flow across time of day and know exactly when midterms and finals seasons are. Suddenly it's a lot easier to get a squat rack for some reason. Things are kept pretty clean for the amount of traffic that comes through, especially student traffic, and the students who frequent are pretty good at re-racking correctly and wiping down benches after use. Membership team here has always been helpful! For some reason, they have limited hours on when you can process membership payments and renewals, but usually it's not a huge issue to get it done. The pool is essentially a children's pool, and it is filled with children most of the time. Unless you go before 7:00 a.m., it is very difficult to enjoy the pool for its intended purpose. The pool was the main reason I signed up, so the experience was nothing like what I expected. When I decided to cancel my membership, I called and spoke directly with the general manager. Despite having to follow up with her multiple times, my membership was not canceled promptly, and I continued to be charged monthly membership fees. To make matters worse, I was ultimately charged a $102 cancellation fee in addition to another monthly membership fee, even though I had not been to the gym in weeks and had already been trying to cancel. I am extremely frustrated with how this entire situation was handled. Between the pool experience, the difficulty canceling, and the additional charges, this has been a very disappointing experience. My advice: Before signing up, make sure you see the pool during the hours you would actually use it, and carefully review the cancellation policy. I joined specifically for the pool and ended up dealing with a frustrating cancellation process and unexpected costs.

They offer a wide variety of sports with lots of fun people. The league is organized by the Bayou Bar on Main St. and you get a free beer after every game there. (An obvious ploy to get you to spend more, but at least it's a cheap place to eat and booze!) You also get a free "banquet" at the end of each season which is held at the bar and includes a 2 hour open bar and free baked ziti and wings. However, the league loses 1-2 stars for organization. Almost every game I attend has started late, which often sacrifices warm up time. Some of the refs are not very focused on the game at times. (One ref, who is very nice and fair nonetheless has still regularly been observed having conversations on his cell phone during the game! Seriously!) They also started making us pay a ref fee separately; in and of itself not a big deal, but it inflates the price. We've had multiple last minute schedule changes over the years, and in these cases, the league is usually not very adept at communicating efficiently. Also, the website is not updated as regularly as other leagues which can also lead to scheduling and communication problems. We have let the guy who runs the league know about these things, but not much has seemed to change in 8 years... Overall, I've really enjoyed my experiences in the league, but they just seem more focused on pulling in the money and getting people to the bar than they are on how well things go for the players.
