My view from the seating area
Ella A.

Got THE best haircut of my entire life by the angel that goes by Bree! I'm from San Jose, CA and have access to a lot of hairstylists in the Bay Area. I found Bree's account on Instagram and they truly are great at what they do! I would definitely travel again to see Bree and continue to make all my hair dreams come true! Not only was Bree great, but the setting of the salon was amazing! I felt very calm in this space and absolutely adored the greenery in the salon. Everybody in there, even other clients, were so nice and put me at ease. Love love LOVE this place and Bree so much!

Wow wow wow WOW! I am beyond impressed with this salon and my new lovely hair stylist STEPHANIE! Not only is this salon ADORABLE but the service here is beyond amazing. I have had some really crappy hair experiences since moving to Oregon. My hair has been fried, then fried again and then trashed/fried again. I was worried about going to yet another stylist but after checking out her Instagram page I knew I was going to be in good hands. First of all she's so sweet, listens to every word you're saying, wants to create magic and is passionate about her job. She's kind, open minded and very talented. My hair was a mess when I came in but when I left I was a like a super model only way cooler. This is my new spot and she's my new stylist from here on out. Thank you darling! You rock!

Alyssa Sholl (https://instagram.com/alyssachrystinehair?igshid=1dh2y1kpxki3p) is the BEST stylist/colorist in town. She has made my hair every shade of blonde I've ever wanted. She gets it right every. Damn. Time. She listens. She creates. I hate getting my hair done (kudos to everyone who does) but I love love love going to see Alyssa and being the lucky recipient of her skills. I leave confident, happy, and beautiful every time. I am happy she is now at 220 and love this new location.

Nikki is amazing! I was in need of a stylist after moving to Portland last year, and after a few meh cuts at other salons, I've found my go to stylist! Not only has she taken me from brunette to this shimmery silver/blue haired mermaid, but she knew handle my hair and cut it to look fuller. Best of all, I know a good cut can last me about three months and her's definitely held up. Can't recommend her enough! The space is really amazing as well! It's vintage, boho-chic that makes you feel like you're in a really cool loft, which made going to get my hair done feel like less of a chore.

Coco is very adorable and welcoming!

I saw Amber Kelley for a cut/color today and am incredibly happy that I did! First of all, the space that the salon is located in is breathtaking from the moment you walk in- a cool and spacious loft with a very relaxed vibe and a great mix of vintage and modern furnishings. Amber and the rest of the staff (including the adorable dog Coco!) were extremely welcoming from the moment I walked in. Amber also exceeded my expectations - she spent time getting to know me and my hair and then made suggestions to my hair color and style that truly "upped my game" and made me look more stylish/beautiful when I saw the finished results! The cut she gave me also works well with my hair texture, thus minimizing the time I need to spend styling it daily (which to me is the sign of a great hair cut!). She is obviously very knowledgeable about her craft as well as the products she uses. She was also very easy to talk to and down to earth. I am new to Portland so she also gave me great recommendations of shops/restaurants/activities to check out which was helpful. I will definitely be returning to see Amber and the rest of the staff at 220!

Before and after a haircut and balayage by the cuhrazy talented Tina Jackson.

*see photos* Before and after a cut and balayage by Tina Jackson, who I am now convinced is a (totally lovely and amiable) cyborg, as this is the most absolutely perfect cut/color I've had in my freakin' life. As someone who is generally apathetic, at best, about my fine, stringy, won't-hold-a-damn-thing hair, I'm genuinely so excited about my hurrs right now that I feel inclined to spam everyone I know--and now loads of strangers--with photos of ze transformation. In short, you should probably just go entrust all of your hairs to Tina right now, because said hairs will be in very skilled, possibly even cyborg, hands.

My fiance wanted a colorful, exciting haircut and Natalie gave him this amazing color-and-cut w/chevron pattern in back!

Of course, on any given visit, there would be different local artist's works exhibited, and there's no guarantee that some or any works would appeal to me (or to anyone, on any given day. Art is so subjective, and the featured artists here change regularly). I was just lucky that I loved so many pieces of art when I visited. There are many things I loved about this gallery: they showcase a wide range of artistic works, from photographs to paintings to sculptures to glassworks to artisan hand-made jewelry and more. All the artists are local. All the art pieces are for sale. There is a huge range of prices for the works, so there really is something for any budget. (Note: when I was there, there were postcards and small prints with the featured photographer's works on them, and these were super reasonably priced). And best of all, you can often chat with the artists who are there! I loved the fact that the featured jewelry maker was there, and she talked about her inspirations and her artistic process. It was fascinating (and she was super talented - and nice to boot!). I love supporting local businesses and local artisans and artists, and this gallery checks all the boxes.

Ceramics, pottery, paintings, prints, photography, metal works, sculptures and greeting cards. Truly something for everyone across a spectrum of prices. What I particularly liked is that the art isn't all about PNW scenes. So many local galleries predominantly filled with local scenes and while stunning in real life, it may not necessarily go with everyone's style in their home. At Alberta Street Gallery, there are abstracts, nature scenes, people, birds, animals and more. Definitely worth a walk through any time you are in the area and also worthy as a destination. There is never any pressure to buy, but always helpful and informative service if needed. The art is always changing so stop back frequently.

This exhibit just opened recently so I believe it will be around for awhile if you get the urge to get over here. PDX Contemporary Art is doing that. This gallery specializes in quiet minimal work from Portland artists, American artists, and international artists. The work runs from maybe $300 into five figures. They sell Portland artists there and through extensive collector relationships worldwide. If you are a collector, this is a good spot.
