She then waited until she finished talking to the customer she was with and then proceeded to tell me that my appointment had been auto cancelled since it was past "la hora" that i was late (incorrect) and said i would have to reschedule... Mind you I never even received a notification that my appointment was cancelled, it would've been impossible as I was BARELY late. So rude. If she had let her coworker help me nothing would have happened. Very unprofessional.

I found Dr. Castellano through my insurance company's website for convenient location to me in Miami Lakes, and was able to set up a Saturday appointment. (Actually 2, since I couldn't get do the dilation on my first visit..) Both times, her and her staff were pleasant including breaking my appointment into two visits. Dr. Castellano is knowledgeable, taking the time to go over the procedure and why the (torturous to yours truly) different drops and gyrations to my eye are necessary. Her staff was also helpful in picking out glasses, including the option to combine a different lens and frame combination. As mentioned, a lot of her patients are of the pint-sized variety, which gives her a great attitude in examining a "30-plus year old" not fond of stuff near his eye..great chairside manner! The office itself is decorated white and minimalist and the equipment seems well maintained. There's parking under the first floor, as well as nearby street parking. I can see clearly now, the drops are gone!

My insurance covers $300.00. They instructed me to a wall with about 10 frames that were cheap looking and cost about $20.00 so they're trying to tell me I have to pay $280.00 for single vision lenses that are just for reading. When I asked again, I was told yes, this is what they covered. Would not break down the lenses and frames separately. I called a few optical stores and the going prices for regular single vision polycarbonate lenses are between $60.00 to $120.00 dollars so are they trying to charge $180.00 dollars for frames that look like mediicaid frames. Do not buy glasses from this place and shop around as they are trying to rip off customers. I understand making a profit but cheap looking frames for almost $200.00, I don't think so. Reading glasses in pharmacy look better than these frames.

As a certified pediatric optometrist, she's the only one with the patience, skill and bedside manner to help when I need to have my eyes dilated...yes even into my 40's :) She recently expanded her practice to this other location in downtown Miami Lakes and works mostly from there. I was told by the front office staff that there's usually another doctor at her original location. Before I became more physically active, she was the one who said I should have my cholesterol checked based on what she saw on my eye exam. Both of her offices have imaging that can take an in-depth picture of the inside of the eye to evaluate the different working parts. The good thing about this device, I was told, is it gives one an alternate to the infamous dilation drops. Ah yes, the drops. Since I had a substantial change in my lens prescription, have a family history and had been a couple of years since I had the dilation she recommended I get it done this year (thankfully all is good). Yes, the drops feel like that scene in "Clockwork Orange" But Dr. Castellanos has a wonderful chairside manner and was able to keep me calm through that procedure. Like her original office, she has a digital lens system that lets her check multiple combinations for glasses pretty quickly. There's also a great selection of lenses, including some very nice rimless like the ones I chose. The candy part in the office name? You get a complementary dessert after the procedure (the raspberry chocolate truffle is my choice.)

My eyes had been hurting and although I only need blue light glasses for computer use, I wanted to have my eyes checked and make sure all was well. My eyes have been hurting and I hadn't had an eye exam in a few years. Anyhow I paid out of pocket since I don't have vision insurance, so I literally just lost $300 because I got a no good Rx I can't use, glasses from them that I cannot use and they refused to change or do anything and wanted to actually charge more money. The last time I had been at this office was Like 3-4 years ago to get eye exam and glasses but it's not the same anymore. There are different optometrists that I honestly do not think know what they're doing. The customer service in the place has also suffered and is bad. They are there to make money off of you as a customer and not in it for the interest of doing their job and actually providing quality services and products.
