Unfortunately, ML Dance does not seem to be one of them. My teenage daughter earned her own money and registered for a class all by herself. She was told she could try a class at no charge. Sadly, she was not treated well by the instructor when she attended and there are no other classes available that fit my daughter's schedule. This would have just been a simple disappointment but they told her she owed$12 for the class! It is a small amount of money but we are baffled that a business would treat a teenager like this. Even if there was a misunderstanding on my daughter's part, which is possible, I've not seen a local business so willing to lose a customer over $12.

Hello There... I am…read moreso sad to write this negative review of this studio. My dance partner and I were students there for almost 5 years. Our experience there began in a good way but over the years deteriorated badly...until I personally had no choice but to quit. We are older adult dancers and the challenge of Irish dancing was especially difficult to us because of age, job responsibilities and time constraints. We chose to do this because we believe in it and we loved it. As dancers at this studio, we hoped to inspire other adult dancers to believe in themselves, to try this type of dancing and to rise to the challenges. We hoped to represent the studio in a very positive way...even though we were dancers in our 60's! Over the years we danced at this studio, we were screamed at at a dance recital, not informed of public performances we were asked to perform at in time to put them in our schedules, the owner of this studio did not order our recital/performance outfits in time or lost the measurements, he reacted in a childish and juvenile manner time and time again. We were treated rudely and our recital/dance routines were not taught to us in time for us to learn them prior to competition and classes were cancelled at the last minute. Over the years, 6 adult dancers that were passionate and dedicated to this dance one-by-one dropped out of this school. The only exception to this that I MUST stress is that the owners's wife, Yulia, is impeccable beyond measure. Her classes (that we also participated in) were taught and carried out with professionalism and integrity. A professional and well-known dancer does not necessarily make a good studio manager or teacher. It is with my very sad realization that I must warn other people about this so they can be warned about what they might experience in advance of the experience. Former Student

This would have been my nieces first year going with us. Not only did we all have to wake up early to get a rapid Covid test (due to them only being viable for 24 hours), but we also drove all the way to Columbus arriving 20 minutes early to find a sign on the door stating the performances were cancelled for today. I was furious, because I had just received an email before Christmas confirming my tickets. I then checked my email and BalletMet had sent a cancellation email at 11:35 for a noon performance. That's ridiculous. We drove over an hour, so unless I would've checked my email while driving on the highway, we still wouldn't have found out until we had already arrived. We will be going somewhere else next year, because this was a total let down. My five-year-old niece cried herself to sleep on the way home, because she was so excited to finally see The Nutcracker. To say this didn't put a pretty big damper on our holiday season would be a lie. They are reimbursing ticket sales, but what's money compared to a fun-filled day of making memories at the ballet :(

I have continued that Christmas tradition with my kids in Columbus and 3 other cities over the years. I have to say this was the most disappointing. The story line was difficult to follow and the dancing seemed chaotic. The Nutcracker has always been so traditional, peaceful and magical. This year did not give any of those feelings.

Although I am not the best dancer in the world, It is truly my passion and I love to learn! Artisan is really the only studio in the area that has affordable, drop-in friendly adult classes. Been going off and on since around 2016 and there are lots of class offerings in all styles on evenings and weekends to try. If you want to work on technique or be helped by the instructor, make sure you start with the "absolute beginner" offerings because most of the classes are choreo based and are fast paced. Don't know what I would do without Artisan! It has been key to helping me re-visit my passion for dance and give me opportunities that I thought would be lost after college!

Artisan is that place. Not only do they have an awesome new-member deal ($30 for 30 days of unlimited classes), but they have a wide variety of beginner classes that you can either sign up for ahead of time, or just drop in! I agree with a sentiment expressed by a classmate during my last class at Artisan: "This is the best place in Columbus for beginner level, adult dance classes." Because of the awesome deal, we decided to try a variety of different dance classes: hip hop, contemporary, ballet, heels, and jazz! All of them were great! Though each style of dance is different, each beginner class is formatted the same: a warm up at the beginning, followed by a choreographed routine. The teacher picks a song ahead of time and then breaks down the choreography throughout class into easily-digested chunks. The classes move at whatever pace the participants dictate and typically end with a group performance of the routine. Overall, I cannot believe what an awesome find this was! I would absolutely recommended Artisan to others.

Once again, I am just so impressed by this wonderful dance studio…read more The instructors and owner are so kind and compassionate. They really care about students learning technique so they can progress as dancers, whether they are in it for the fun of it or in it to become a professional dancer. In fact, a couple of Butch's former students currently perform as Rockettes, another has been performing on Broadway for years, and others have been on college dance teams. Many of the Jr. Miss/Mr. Dance or Miss/Mr. Dance of Ohio have been instructed by Butch at some point (mostly during conventions, summer workshops) throughout their dance career. Many of the students have opportunities to perform locally and nationally whether it's through a local show or competition. Dance Masters of America is a large competition that students will compete at as well as Showstoppers and many others including local competitions. There have also been master classes offered at the studio but also at other studios/competitions that students have been encouraged to attend. Take a look at the wonderful ratings the dance studio receives on their Facebook page and you'll see how happy people have been with their experience. While I'm at it, I'd like to address the negative review on this page. It really saddens me that someone had a bad experience at the studio. I am certain if a dancer has an issue and it was brought forward to Butch it would be addressed in a positive matter. Again, he really cares for ALL students and pushes them to be the best that they can be.
