By far the best barbershop in Artesia! The private studio setup is incredible! having a 1-on-1 session makes a massive difference compared to crowded shops. Hands down to the man, JC, who truly takes his time, pays so much attention to detail, and never rushes the process. He is entirely focused on delivering the absolute best service possible. I highly recommend booking an appointment! read more

Whether you enjoy striking up a friendly conversation while getting your hair cut, or are just there are to chill, you will 100% always have a wonderful experience every time you come! So glad to have found and tried 1993 Atalier. The owner, JC, runs his business in a very professional yet personal way. He is great at his craft and really knows how to cut hair the way I've been wanting to look. His shop is a private space so you kind of have that special one-on-one treatment experience. Thanks JC for a great haircut and the good conversation. Until my next appointment. read more

JC's private studio is a hidden gem. Super friendly, attentive, and he has a great perspective when it comes to barbering. I have been a client of his for over a year now and his cuts are worth every penny. Got a consult and have stuck with the same haircut each time that makes my hair look fuller and easy to maintain. Tip: Book a reservation online through his website. His shop is inside the strip mall on the second floor. If you walk up the stairs, take a right and go down the hallway turning left. His shop is around the corner on the far end. read more

I have been coming to King for about 6 years now and he nails it every time. I'm proud to say that he has been the only person that has cut my hair for that duration. He helped me look my best at all of my events and is very flexible with making appointments. Commitment issues fears this guy! read more

Great service. He took barbering back to what it was supposed to be. A relationship between the barber and the client. Not only did he take the time to really understand what I wanted but he didn't do anything until I was ready. He lined up and faded my scraggly beard and cleaned me up right. The experience was well worth it, he did a great job and I had a great time. I almost want to grow my hair twice as fast just so I can go back. I cant give higher praise than this is what modern day barbers should strive to be like read more

I live an hour away and make the drive over for a cut because he give amazing service and always gets me right. Been coming here for 2 years now. Every time I come in, I don't even need to tell him any what I want, it he's take pride in knowing the style each person desires. Additionally, he give good energy and open ear for any topic you like to talk/rant/ask about. Juan also is super respectable of your time and ensures the best service in a timely manner. If you want someone who take pride in his work, this is the place to be. Plus have a quick shoulder massage at the end is a great way to end the session. read more

In the eyes of my teenaged son, there are three foregone conclusions - (1) everything is "mid", (2) anyone over the age of 22 is a boomer, and (3) barbers never give you the haircut you want. The first two are obviously untrue. The third one is not always true for every barber...although, to be fair, the barbers I have taken him to often disregard what he tells them he wants. So, convincing him to see a barber is a real chore most times. But, as summer approaches and he can no longer see past the bangs that reach his nose, I was able to get him to agree to see a barber. J.C. is the only local barber I saw on Yelp who had five stars. His prices were super affordable and we were able to get a same-day appointment. His shop is in the Sola Salon across from the mall. He spent an hour with my son, including a neck massage and straight razor finish. But, most importantly, he gave my son exactly the haircut he wanted and it looked fantastic. And, shocker of all shockers, my son said he would go to have J.C. cut his hair again...which is about the highest praise you can get from my kid. read more

Absolutely love this shop, Juan Carlos is the best! He always ensures I'm happy with my cut, gives great insight into what would look best and always does a great job! read more

Started coming here last year, and it's been the best barber experience thus far. I've tried 3 different styles so far, and each time I've been extremely satisfied with the results. Appreciate you JC, and the amazing work you do! read more

I was 40 minutes late to my haircut and rushed to the salon only to find a happy and welcoming barber greet me! He was understandable about the traffic and how he was just glad I still made it sade and sound. He was so funny that at one point I forgot I was getting a haircut in the first place! He always asked for suggestions afterwards on where he could improve when he really was already doing great :) thank you for such a kind service! I will tell anyone in the area to get their haircut at 1993 Atalier! read more

I had a phenomenal experience getting my hair cut. The space was well decorated. There was great conversation with the barber and others waiting to get their haircut! Juan did an great job! He is the first barber I trusted with my beard and I would definitely go back! While I was there, I got other advice and tips for my hair, a neck & back massage, and a facial treatment! Every penny was well spent! read more

Came in not really knowing what I want/what to do with my hair other than wanting to try out something new and what I wanted to avoid. JC took your concern in mind, asked questions and provided suggestions based on what may fit you. The place is very clean and he is very friendly. Really happy with the result and overall really great experience. Will be coming again! read more

I've been wanting to change up my style, and try having short hair after almost a lifetime of lengthy hair. I got the Deluxe Haircut and honestly, I just told JC I wanted to look "fly", maybe grabbing a fade and/or pixie cut. I told him he could have fun with it, and he sure did as we talked about anime, the Philippines, and other interests. It was a super enjoyable experience and I came out of it looking super "pogi", or handsome. Will be back! read more

1993 Atalier - Fresh from the barber and styled - Barbers Near Me - Artesia, California

Been struggling to know what to do with my hair after deciding to do a buzz cut. Decided to grow it out again and Juan has given me guidance as to how things are going to go for the style I want while still making me look good in the early stages. After going to several barber shops over the years, I sometimes walk out of those other shops not satisfied with the cut. Hasn't been the case with Juan, always appreciate the quality and service after each visit! read more

I highly recommend JC! He's amazing at starting conversations and makes me feel comfortable from the moment I sit down. The space is always nice and clean, which adds to the overall great vibe. JC is also incredibly consistent - I have been going to him for about a year now and every time, he cuts my hair exactly the way I like it. read more

I can't recommend this place enough. Juan provides not just a great haircut, but also a great experience. Juan lets you put your own notes when you setup your appointment which I greatly appreciated because by the time I got to my appointment, he knew what I wanted and we were able to figure out the rest in person. I am usually nervous when talking at the barbers, but I found it very comfortable and fun talking to Juan. read more

Hands down my favorite barber , nails every single one of my haircuts every time. The place has such a great vibe and the playlist on music is very tuneful. read more

Took my nephew to get his haircut for prom! Great service and my boy loved his haircut.

Great haircut, great beard trim, great conversation (and I'm usually on the anti-social side of things). Dude knows what he's doing and even had great music going to complete the experience. read more

JC is an outstanding barber and a great guy. He makes the experience personal, listens to what you want, and provides a service that is miles ahead of other barbers. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment. read more

He's a great guy! Really communicative and great cut. We discussed the options for my next haircut due to the fact that my hair needs time to grow out again. He gave me a couple of options in terms of styling which I appreciate. It's been years since I was able to see what I looked like without a perm and I honestly feel great. On the plus side he gives you a wash if you want to and brings back amenities wish I really appreciate. Thanks for the cut and I'll see you again soon! read more

Super picky with my barbers as I've had some not so good experiences in the past. I needed someone with a blend of modern techniques and experience cutting Asian hair. JC was professional yet down to earth. Super easy to talk to and does a great job listening to what his client had to say. read more

Don't know why I waited so long to see an actual barber! Glad to have found a barber that will help you find the cut that makes you feel great. Juan Carlos takes his work seriously and puts your confidence as his priority. Get that hot towel treatment and massage with your cut, won't regret it. read more

It's always tough finding a barber who can meet your needs at a great price. Juan Carlos made it easy! He asked all the right questions and cut my hair exactly the way I wanted. He took his time and made the whole experience enjoyable! Highly recommended! One of the top barbers in the area for sure! read more

Juan does a magnificent job cutting my son's hair. I've been to many barbers who don't understand straight hair and have given my son terrible haircuts. Juan takes his time, pays attention to details, and asks questions to make sure he understands the style you want to achieve. He also has a lot of flexibility and is punctual with the appointments. Many times hairdressers or barbers will give you an appointment and not show up or cancel your appointment last minute. Juan respects your time. We highly recommend Juan. read more

Great haircut as always! Juan is always a pleasure to talk to and he spends a lot of time making sure you get your hair how you asked for it. Always goes above and beyond for service. The price is also very reasonable for his quality of cut. read more

Sorry, this is a late post. My husband has been looking for a barber for awhile and we finally found this place. He had his appointment this past Friday with Juan. It's a cool spot and my husband was happy with his haircut. Juan provided quality service and my husband got to avoid the unnecessary BS that comes with going to a barbershop. If you want a haircut at a quality barbershop without the awkward or cliqueish environment, check this place out. read more

I am from out of town and needed a haircut. Took a flyer on the place based on previous reviews. So glad I did. I loved the intimate setting of the individual booth with privacy as well as the MUSIC! We definitely shared the same tastes and shared some new music with each other. A great experience and awesome cut. If I was a local, JC would be my regular go to barber! Heck, I might even just wait until I travel here again. to get the cut! read more

Great atmosphere, great haircut, great vibes. What more can you ask for. Highly recommend to get a haircut from JC.

In a world with many barbers to choose from, I can't recommend this one enough. He is professional, hard working and cares about the craft.

I have thick, polynesian hair and struggled with other barbers because they'd always use an electric razor to cut the back and sides of my hair. This caused my hair to grow in a way where it would stick out straight and not fall down like I'd want it to. However, King (the barber) understands my hair type and how it grows after a haircut. To cut my hair, King meticulously uses a scissor cut and gives me a taper fade without using an electric razor! In result, when my hair grows out, it naturally falls down instead sticking out. Additionally, King understands my face shape and knows which hairstyles complement it and ( more importantly) which one's don't. read more
